@R1spam I just started replaying it a week ago, and this time bought the DLC to try it out. I haven't been able to experience much of the pass yet, so I'll let you know what I think when I've tried it all out, but at the moment I'm doing my playthrough on master mode, and I'm absolutely loving it! It completely changes the way the game is played, and makes you really make the most of everything in Link's arsenal. Obviously that by itself isn't worth 20 quid, but I'm hoping the master trials and the extra divine beast will make it all worth it overall!
Started another file in Super Metroid through the app thingy. While I wish I had an actual D-Pad, the game is just so brilliant, even after all these times playing it. I should probably play the randomizer at some point, I love the Ocarina of Time one.
Started up New Pokemon Snap yesterday. It really is a lovely looking game, though I haven't unlocked anything other than the starter course (and it's variants) yet.
@RogerRoger, on that last point, don't give up hope yet.
@BranJ0@Octane thanks for the @'s, think I'm going to pull the trigger on dlc (found it for £16) and a second hand copy of botw. Will try and post thoughts if I get it and try the new content.
@R1spam If you complete the story in BOTW, and want more game, the DLC adds several hours more of gameplay. I loved BOTW, and can't imagine skipping the DLC. The DLC was meant to be played after you've finished the game's story, and the DLC is not going anywhere. So, you can wait until you beat the story to decide if you want buy the DLC.
@Ralizah I might just grab one of those then. NES and SNES games on Switch sound great until you try playing them in bed with that stinker of a stick. Attempting to accurately shinespark or even just using screw attack felt completely wrong.
In New Pokemon Snap, just working through the "story" to unlock new areas is pretty chill but all these darn optional requests can bite me. The hints are often incredibly cryptic, so it feels like I'm constantly taking pics that I think should be a shoo-in, but nope. It doesn't help that you can only choose one pic (of each Pokemon) to keep at the end of a run, and you don't know whether or not a specific picture meets the criteria to complete a request until it's being graded.

Had a bit of a switch splurge recently! Had some old games and traded them at cex for super mario 3d world and age of calamity. Also bought a physical copy of hades new. I liked the demo for calamity, its mindless fun and after playing mario with my daughter yesterday, I can't wait for more. I have never played a rogue-like and thought if I'm going to try one, why not go for one of the best. Got a couple of other games to finish up (hzd frozen wilds, outer wilds and inside) before I give it a try but really looking forward to it.
I love (most of) Nintendo's games.
I love my Switch.
But they can kindly eff off when it comes to how they're treating the Fatal Frame IP. Fourth game was Japan only. The Wii remake of FF2 didn't even come to the States. FF5 was released digital-only on the goddamn Wii U. Now they've just turned it into pure casino fodder. The only Nintendo-era entry that received a "proper" release was that crappy 3DS spinoff that nobody likes.
It was better for everyone when these games were releasing on Playstation consoles.
@Ralizah Yeah, I was not happy at all with that one. Pachinko machines? Really? I wish there was a similar deal with movies, where sitting on the rights for too long without meaningful use means they could revert to another studio.
Nintendo reportedly co-owns the IP, although it's difficult to know how it's actually managed between the two companies.
Still, it wouldn't be an issue if they weren't just... sitting... on the IP when it comes to actual games. And since they also publish the games now, the complete absence of any sort of support for the series is definitely on them in that respect.
Moreover, this series was consistently enjoying retail releases worldwide until Nintendo got involved. Suddenly, one main series entry is stuck in Japan, a remake never came State-side, and another main series entry was left to rot on the Wii U eshop.
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy I've not heard anything particularly negative about the Wii remake. It has better graphics and changed to an over-the-shoulder perspective with the camera, but otherwise it's comparable to the original.
Watched the credits roll in New Pokemon Snap this morning, and according to the play log I've spent at least 15 hours on it so far.
That's more time than I've spent on titles such as Onimusha, Devil May Cry, & Republic Commando, yet it doesn't feel as fulfilling as those titles. I'm NOT saying it's a worse game, just that story completion feels like scratching the surface rather than a satisfying endeavor in & of itself.
The only problem with this is that the meat of the game, these darn challenges, can be super obtuse & it's not fun replaying a course 3-4 times in a row and have nothing to show for it.
One of the early controversies in Fatal Frame V was how NoA censored the game by replacing 'sexy' optional outfits with Nintendo ones, despite the M rating already filtering out the younger audience (in theory; I think we both know most kids can play whatever the heck they want). So instead of controlling one of the characters while she was wearing lingerie, you instead had the option of dressing her up in the Zero Suit from Metroid.
The truly funny thing is that Nintendo had no problem whatsoever with putting sexy versions of classic Nintendo outfits in Bayonetta 1 & 2. Supposedly Platinum initially made the Link costume in Bayonetta 2 fairly conservative, but Nintendo told them to sex it up a bit. And this all was just... so bizarre when Nintendo was actively censoring tamer outfits in other games.
I think the answer to this question lies in how old is the wearer of those costumes?
Because if it's anything like people get up in arms about not letting Lin wear a skimpy bikini in Xenoblade X when it was localised and decrying censorship, then it's safe to say it's not worth listening to.
Lin was 13 by the way, for context. That stuff don't fly in most of the world.
