Topic: Memorycard woes

Man I love the Vita, though the number one issue with a lot of us is the memory cards. I really hope the price drops for them in the months to come.

I lucked out getting a 4GB with the starter kit for $30. Then I ran out of room then, used my $20 gift card to pick up an 8GB.

I picked up a 32gb the day before the official launch.  I've got way to much money stashed on my PSN account and not nearly enough games on my memory card.  Hopefully that will change over time.  I've had the 8gb card that came with my launch bundle on Craigslist for a while and not a whole lot of interest in it.  In ya'lls opinion:  $25 too much to ask?  They're going for around $32 locally (with tax).

Just honestly I wouldn't even consider going somewhere like Craigslist just to save 7 dollars. I guess there might be someone out there who would but I'd much rather just go to the store and get my rewards points and be done with it.

Have not tried it yet, but Vita comes with what seems an outstanding software to create backups on your PC and then sync these at will with the console. I guess that you might have some games of immediate use in your memory card and the rest in your PC (hopefully).

The absolute only regret I have with my Vita is obviously the memory cards. My 4GB is nearly filled-up, and I just can't bring myself to shell out all that cash just to have the ability to get more games. This is one of the times that Sony has decided to be not-as-awesome-as-normal. I'd even go as far to say that Nintendo made the better decision to region-lock their consoles. At least for now. I will change my mind though if An MH Vita comes out exclusively for Japan, couple with a price drop on the friggin' expensive memory cards. Then I will get back on my knees, worshipping Sony, and re-light the candles in my Jack Tretton shrine in my basement.

Since I posted this topic, I've been running in to problems since I got the second memory card; The system recognizes previous games I've played but acts like I haven't played the games before. I guess a majority of data is added to a memory card instead of the game card. I know there is a few games that keep the data to the cards but it just is weird that I have put my other memory card back in the system to continue my progress.

Another issue I have is when I switch out a memory card, and play a demo on the new memory card, the system acts like I've just began playing the game for the first time. My notifications for my PSN profile says, "cyphid is playing 'insert title' for the first time (1 mins ago)" I've played several different demos at least twice but continues to say its new.

It seems the Vita itself, has little memory and relies on the memory cards. I believe the 3DS has at least 500mb of internal flash so its odd that Sony didn't at least have the same approach to Vita. I think a lot of issues can be ironed out with firmware updates. It is only a few months since the system has been out to the public. Hell, I picked up a 3DS on launch and have seen the system evolve in the year, so I think though its a little frustrating with some issues with Vita, its still impressive.

the PSN update thing definitely seems like something that could and should be fixed. Instead of just relying on the memory card having no previous info about that game (which is understandable),the PSN account should be able to just check if it's had the update "playing for the first time" before and never say it again.

@Squiggle55 Indeed, I think a lot things will be altered or fixed in the future. I get excited for a notification saying "new update available" so I can't wait until next months update for the Vita.

I also bet that DRM is to blame for some of the data isssues. I really hope sony allows users to delete or move DLC. At the moment I can only view my Ridge Racer DLC in the settings.

But how did you put these already-played games in your new memory card? Using the PC sync option built in with the Vita?

The option to have the save files in the "cloud" like the Xbox would be nifty.

I would really like a 32GB; Sony's website says 4GB can handle about two Vita games T-T

I downloaded the Ridge Racer dlc a second time on my new memory card. Its weird the system will not let you delete or move the files individually. Any games I played have data tied to my first memory card. I dont think Ill be able to get the data moved to my new memory card unless I do a back up and restore on the new card.
