Topic: Do you think Sony may consider a Vita price drop?

Sure, I know Sony firmly said no to any price drops on the Vita some time ago, but really, the way things have been going with Vita sales in Japan, I was wondering if anyone's expecting Sony to undergo a drastic change of mind.

I know it might be too early, as the Vita hasn't been released in EU and NA yet, but with it just round the corner, it won't be too long before we can judge. Many people've also said they consider their overall Vita order (handheld, games + memory card, maybe even an accessory to boot) too expensive, and may wait until a price drop, or maybe just later in the year to purchase one.

Anyway, on the question. What do you guys think?

I think Sony will drop the price eventually but it might be a while before they do so. Personally, I am waiting for a price drop before I pick one up. I'm sure Sony is eager to see how the Vita performs in other regions outside of Japan. Depending how well it does will surely determine how soon and how much of a price cut the Vita may get. I'm holding out hope for a nice Black Friday bundle.

I dont see them doing a price drop as soon as Nintendo did with the 3DS hopefully they saw the disaster that the 3DS launch was.  I am sure there will be bundles and such around the holidays but other than that unless the launch really bombs than it will probably be awhile till a price drop.

~and unless some game that I have to have comes out for the Vita thats when I will be getting one when the price drops or a sweet bundle comes out this holiday season.~

Hmmm, let's see...

$249.99  PSVita
$99.99    32GB Memory (Seriously!? - SD would be around $35!)
$49.99    Uncharted: Golden Abyss
$39.99    Other titles...
$29.99    Other titles...

Add that all up with 1 game from each price range: You're looking at just under $500!
That's a lot of groceries or rent money for some. Of course, my rent is way more than that.

I don't think they have a choice in the matter when it comes to dropping the price, but that's just for me. Others might not be bothered. I hope it sells strong because I wish for it to succeed, but I'm not bothered if it fails.

Sony isn't as glamorous as Apple. People flock to Apple products. Sony doesn't have that allure. This is being typed on a MacBook Pro, but the only other Apple product I have is a 160GB iPod. I find the iPhones and iPad to be useless for my needs... much like the Vita actually. That doesn't mean I wouldn't be happy with one.

Nachos, anyone?

I'm expecting a price drop much later this year- possibly for the holidays. Or, they'll be dropping the prices of the memory cards. That's what's killing me right now from even getting a Vita sooner.

But I'm patient enough to wait for a revision or even a blue colored Vita

Not for a while, but I'd say the greatest price drop would be is cutting a chunk out of the memory card price.

I think it's still too early. It's very understandable that Vita performed poorly in Japan seeing as how popular the PSP is for them. I think it will be only a few months until we see an increase for the system in Japan. On the other hand, now that the Nintendo 3DS is picking up stream, I still think the Vita will fair just fine. The launch lineup for Vita is by far some of the best the industry has ever seen. The hardware is much more capable than the PSP for sure.

Price drops occur when it makes sense;  holidays or new bundles, as examples. The ps3 was priced based on the size of the hard drive, typically two different versions, just like the Vita has two versions.
