@Th3solution The Raccoon City Edition comes with RE2 Remake, I completed RE2 OG as a teenager. Thanks for the info, I'm sure I'll pick it up at some point.
"Even in the face of death, the samurai stands unwavering, for honour is a blade sharper than steel".
@NeonPizza Well said. Makes me want to play them both again. š
I actually plan for RE4 Remake as my next RE project. Unlike most people, I didnāt like the original. But Iām willing to see if the remake lands better for me.
@Black_Swordsman I think youād be pleased with what they did to RE2. Getting both in the Raccoon City package would definitely be the way to go. I had played and enjoyed the OG RE2 back in the day and it was great, but the remake does it better, imo.

This is my Resident Evil collection. I have a variation of each RE game released (without the gameboy game). Here are my thoughts on each game:
1. Resident Evil (original) - this started it all. I played this but never finished it before I got the DS version. It is a good game with some neat designs and the DS version is my favorite of the original release.
2. Resident Evil 2 (Original) - I opted in for the N64 version as it is all on the cartridge and I love cartridges. This is PHENOMENAL GAME! Way better than RE1 original. The RPD is so creepy and atmospheric! My favorite section of the whole game!
3. Resident Evil 3 Nemesis - this is the only game I have not finished or got far into. It is my next game to finish!
4. Resident Evil 4 Original - at first, I did not like the game but that was because of the controls. After some struggle it clicked with me! Also, it is really cool that the whole game is on the Nintendo Switch cartridge
5. Resident Evil Revelations - I did not like this game. Maybe I have to replay it, but the setting was really uninteresting to me
6. Resident Evil 5 - One more game that I did not like. The atmosphere was gone and it was boring!
7. Resident Evil 6 - Absolute disaster The only thing I liked was the first half of Leon's chapter. Everything else was absolute crap
8. Resident Evil 0 - I thought I was not going to like it because of the dual character gameplay but it was an ok experience. Nothing remarkable
9. Resident Evil HD Remaster - That is perfection Absolutely amazing game and it deserves ALL the praise
10. Resident Evil Revelations 2 - This was SO much better than Revelations 1. The atmosphere and the 2 timelines were good! I will definitely replay that
11. Resident Evil VII - I played this blindly and I was expecting something even worse than RE6, but I was blown away by the horror atmosphere! This was a damn good experience!
12. Resident Evil 2 Remake - Another RE game that gets the score "perfection" from me It is so atmospheric and terrifying ... I played thought it at least 6 times and some moments do not get stale
13. Resident Evil 3 Remake - Seeing the comparison videos of Resident Evil 3 Nemesis and this ... it hurts. This is the worst remake and one of the RE games that is in the bottom of my list. The cut content is too much.
14. Resident Evil Village - Some people do not like Ethan but with this game he is one my favorite RE protagonists! Also, the game is so trippy and weird and I LOVE it. I really want to experience this in PSVR2 but I am still on the fence ... it is more expensive than new PS5 in my country Damn!!!
15. Resident Evil 4 Remake - The only bad thig I can say about this is that ... they did not include the DLC on the disc for the Gold Edition Amazing remake and a joy to play! I also want to experience this in VR

My Sculptures
Competed my first playthrough of RE3 Remake (PS5) this evening. Don't think I ever played the original so it was good to have seen the missing piece so to speak. Seemed much more of a cinematic blockbuster type affair than the survival horror I was expecting. Though the last section in the base was kind of horror I suppose.
The game moves along at a frantic pace - game time came in just under 6 hours and total time with cut scenes just under 7 - I think I've been disappointed if I'd paid any decent price for a game that short.
Managed to only scrape a C rank on standard difficulty for my efforts, down to number of saves, deaths and overall time. think I'll next play it on easy mode with a collectable guide to pick up all notes, destroy the statues and any other missable stuff I missed first time through.
Main takeaway from my time with it is that Jill Valentine is proper boss b***h. Love her.
If the rumours are true, then I hope the RE0 remake will have item boxes. It wouldn't detract from the experience at all, it would only enhance it. I might actually consider playing through it again if they made that change.
As for a Code Veronica remake, at first I wanted to play the original game but now I'd rather play a third-person remake in all honestly.
On a side note, it's been a while since I played a Resident Evil game. As mentioned above and because my gaming time is limited, I think I'll hold off on Code Veronica for now. I'd rather play either Resident Evil 2 Remake or Resident Evil 7 as these are the next games on my list.
So to me some of the Resident Evil games seem to be one of more underappreciated games around. While i understand that some have played the games I wounder a little bit how many play them to completion and take time to explore them in a good way. I mean because its a little bit interesting to me how much that there is so much to notice in them.
The environments are quite detailed which is just one impressive thing about them imo.
Its quite cool because after a break I just got into one of the remakes again. As far with what comes next in the franchise I personally think it would be quite cool to beside anything other to see a remake of 5.
Beside the nice and detailed environments (which I dont think many take time to appreciate) I think about the inventory system as one of the coolest things in the games. It must have taken Capcom quite a bit of effort to implement the system in the game. The inventory system and the puzzles in the game also makes me also think about Resident Evil as a game which implements quite a bit of math and that the developers must be quite math oriented. As a player you often not only have to keep track of just your inventory but also about how much ammo you have left. Because you usually don't have too much of it.
@Th3solution Just made it to the Police Station in RE2 REmake. I played the og game as a teenager and with the deluxe version of the game I have the og soundtrack applied to my current playthrough. I like the updated visuals and apparently a lot of the content has been updated, which is not entirely evident so far, if memory serves correctly, but, yeah.
Definitely loving how cinematic it is so far and enjoy having the 'hub' area of the Police Station lobby to rest up, playing on the 'Assisted' difficulty setting so my status goes automatically back from 'Danger' 'Caution' whatever to 'Fine' at the next checkpoint if I get attacked!
Also applied the Extra DLC pack so have the Samurai Edge with infinite ammo currently equipped with the Minigun with infinite ammo as my sub-weapon for hairier situations. Might sound a bit op, but, yeah, felt a bit rusty since I haven't really played shooters outside of the Uncharted series since I was 17, and felt like I needed that extra edge! Should be a blast! (no pun intended).
@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN So youāre coming along with RE2, and working your way through the police station with Leon. Itās a great game and really can be scary at times.
What do you think so far?
And I know youāre still probably early on, but do you think you might want to do a Claire playthrough also? A lot of it is the same but there are definitely differences so itās possibly worthwhile, depending how much you enjoy this first one.
And Iāll be curious if this entices you to play RE3 or RE4 right away.
āWe cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.ā
@Th3solution It's a lot more 'cinematic' than the original so far, for sure, plus the movement is a lot easier to handle, handles more smoothly. I will be using a guide from now on, as, after consulting one, realised I had missed a green herb earlier so will go back to get it, and also make sure that I don't miss anything else plus I will need it for the puzzles, and to help me out with Mr. X when he inevitably shows up. Much gorier/scarier than the original as well with the updated graphics.
I have the og soundtrack on that I got with that same DLC pack as well, for the best of both worlds, really appreciate the blending of old and new in that sense. A Claire playthrough may be possible, we'll see. Also, I was gonna play RE4 directly after but decided to ask someone on here for advice as to what to dig out of my backlog next, based on what I told them of my personal preferences and whatnot and they recommended Alan Wake II, so I think I will follow her advice and play that next, if I can complete RE2 REmake first, of course. š
@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN good way to describe it. Iād say itās one of the easiest REs by far.
Thereās no real need to go back just for a herb.
A guide might not be needed. Itās quite easy to navigate the game on your own without missing too many important stuff. Itās better for immersion and convenience too.
Mr X type characters in the remakes donāt pause a huge threat actually.
Nemesis will be a pushover as well and I play in highest difficulty.
My games are uhhh not going great actually. I hope Iāll find some free time this week and stick with something.
@BlAcK_SwOrDsMaN Yes, definite cinematic along with the updated graphics and movement/controls. Thereās a charm to the original and the tank controls, but I prefer the remake.
When you do get to RE3 Remake youāll find that it plays very similar to RE2 Remake. New characters, new setting, and slightly new wrinkles to the gameplay, but overall it was quite parallel.
After playing the remakes for 1-3, I played the original RE4 (well the PS4 port, actually) and just didnāt like it. The series shifts from survival focused with small combat encounters, to a combat focused with smaller survival focus. Thereās hoards of zombie enemies and it becomes a third person shooter much of the time, which was frustrating with the old control schemes. Iāve picked up the RE4 Remake in the last sale and Iām going to see if I like the game in a remade format where itās easier to play and has updated controls. Iām not sure when Iāll play it but maybe around Halloween time.
I also want to try the Alan Wake series and I have the first game, so maybe Iāll try that first, depending on my mood.
āWe cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.ā
@Th3solution Iād argue yes. REmake4 is much more āmodernā, I didnāt mind OGRE4 myself, but I can still see someone who didnāt like it would enjoy REmake4. Itās definitely an excellent game, smooth, great visuals, the whole shebang.
@Yousef- My main gripe wasnāt even the lack of mobility when aiming and shooting, although that was quite annoying in its own right, but it was the lack of quick change of weapons. Since the best tactic was to either shoot an enemy in the knee or head to cripple or stun them, then either do an awkward kick animation or pull out the knife to slash them until they were down permanently, it was a lot of switching weapons and moves and the controls were weird because of going into the menu every time to equip a different one. I donāt know who thought that system made sense, but it wasnāt someone who plays a lot of action games š Especially in a game where ammo is scare, you need to switch back and forth a lot, use a high powered round to stagger and then switch to the pea shooter to finish them off, or switching back and forth between weapons when one of the guysā grows one of those hydra snake creatures out of their heads. š
Anyway, so the Remake apparently fixed all that and also the ability to run and shoot seamlessly without the tank controlling issues. Also the presence of difficulty options will be welcome because there were many times I felt like I was just barely surviving and if I could have only dialed down the difficulty one notch then I probably could have kept going. But as it was, I eventually gave up because I wasnāt having fun.
āWe cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.ā
@Th3solution uhhhhh then I donāt think Iām happy to inform that unfortunately RE4R maintains that particular aspect that doesnāt bote well with you.
In fact, Iād argue itās even more āsimplisticā than the original due to modern sensibilities making things āeasierā in a specific way.
Unfortunately Iām yet again unhappy to inform you that higher difficulty modes in REmakes arenāt properly playtested. At least thatās the impression I got from REmake3 which got worse the higher I turned the difficulty and borderline felt buggy at times despite the fact it was TECHNICALLY functioning as intended, just not fun.
But thatās just my two cents, my opinion isnāt word of law or anything xD
@Yousef- Urgh⦠youāre killinā me. š
Welp, Iāll just have to hope that I can adjust. The good news is that I paid a fairly low price for it. I think it was $20-$25.
So, the didnāt just make a radial wheel or a quick select with the D-pad or something to switch weapons? Strange.
āWe cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.ā
@Th3solution hey⦠thereās light at the end of the tunnel! Iām confident REmake5 will actually be an improvement. I donāt belong in the mainstream crowd so I actually think all the OGREs from 1 to 4 are fun and the remakes are not really necessary, but 5 does not get that praise from me xD. If you know, you know.
Neither does 6 either but I actually literally have no clue how a remake of that would even look like. Whatās there to even remake? The REmakes tried to keep as much content as possible (except RE3Rā¦.) but 6 is the only that would shockingly benefit from trimming its length. Iām not sure who at Capcom okayed 20 hours third person shooter campaign. Only GTA can pull that off because of the amount of breaks youāre given but RE6 has no downtimeā¦. But Iām really getting ahead of myself.
Please enjoy your time with the series!
