@GirlVersusGame oh, it's Sam Raimi? Interesting. I'll maybe add it to my subconcious pile of films I may one day watch 😄 (I may have even seen it and forgotten it, too, to be fair. It rings a bell. Maybe once when it has been on tv or something)

@FuriousMachine Knowing me i'll end up watching totally different things in the end, anyway. Perhaps Sci-Fi and adventure will call my name instead, especially when Project Hail Mary arrives. And there's some Spielberg-y stuff I have lined up, too.

As for the period/historical-fest (the list is growing in my mind already, so a fest it shall need be) I recently got the arrow Troy, so that will be one of the first up in that mix, but it's a bit sword and sandal, so then I might have to pivot to Gladiator 💀 Also I forgot I picked up The Patriot which straddles the period/western adjacent catagory nicely, too 😬 and yes, Tombstone can follow or lead in that.

Needless to say, the collection is swelling nicely (perhaps out of control? 👀) But it feels like there's a good choice of physical media to suit any mood, season, or occasion, so really there is no pressure, as anything chosen will have some aspect i'm interested in. And no longer will I have to rely on the poopily curated lists that the streamers manage to put together.

Like, recently, for example, I picked up Blow Out which i'm incredibly giddy about, it is not the kind of movie you often see on a streamer or making the popular lists, despite it being far better than 90% of content on them, and if we want to watch some Noir flavoured stuff (which why wouldn't all of us want to, immediately?) Then how are we to find Blow Out and Blood Simple and then maybe pivot to The Long Goodbye unless we ourselves make it so by creating our own collections? And then say you want to also go and watch Fight Club or Coraline instead, or The Million Dollar Hotel which is just is not happening unless you have an open invite to Bono's house! (Okay, that is actually on Prime, but Wim Wenders made me get his german blu-ray release because, despite it being shockingly bad, it is also actual nostalgic perfection) Which reminds me, I need to seek out some of those harder to find Nic Cage movies still, dammit. And speaking of Noir adjacent and Coen adjacent (more utterly manic genre reaches) Arrow is releasing their 4k of Fargo this year, a movie that would pair well with maybe a Misery which Arrow also recently put out. Yes, i'm trying to directly make Furious spend more money on Arrow video releases, if he hasn't already taken the whole release catalogue off their hands 😛 Man, I've seen Fargo so many times, but one more version couldn't hurt, could it? 😁

Talking about picking what to watch over the next few months is making it seem like some daunting task, too, but in reality i'll let moods and occasions dictate. At least with your cinema officianado hat and platinum cinema-pass, Mr Machine, you have to actively go and see whatever is on or lose access to Oracle status. You know, sometimes I think GvG has it right, in that choice is an illusion and 'real ones' simply do as they are told 😛 cough... watch The Guest... cough. As a matter of fact, I will actually rewatch The Guest nearer to Halloween, myself. And I shall force as many others as I can to do so, too! Ha ha ha! 🎃

@JohnnyShoulder @FuriousMachine oh, yeahhh, I forgot I needed to pick up Sicario, I think I was going to grab it on a 3 for 2 or whatever offer ages ago and simply forgot all about it as nothing else interested me at the time. And that would fit into my Deakins Desires for cinematography following Jesse James and Coen Adjacents, it'd pair well with a No Country for Old Men I think, too.

As for western adjacent i'm still thinking There Will Be Blood is coming to 4k, too right? Right?!

I got carried away here, I wrote a little this afternoon, and then some now, and I know it's an utter shambles, and I am aware I am parodying myself, too 😛 especially as some parts got lost as I tabbed-out by mistake and re-added far worse and far more rushed efforts covering some similar titles I probably mentioned.. so, Good luck, Have Fun, Don't Die when trying to read this mess 🫶

And I really will get Tombstone on the schedule sooner rather than later. It feels like it will follow Jesse James nicely, tbh. And from there, who knows. Sicario is a good call but i'd need to pick it up from somewhere. There is some kind of link in theme that can be extracted from a lot of these ideas. I'll keep it simpler when I just post whatever I end up watching in the next week or two, I guess 😛

And I see, you are all going to be getting your serious horror on in October, which is cool (remember to all add The Guest to your rotations while doing so) but most of my horror will be coming from The Blood Of Dawnwalker, and Halloween time will probably be more about Tim Burton and Laika stuff, as well as The Guest, which I may have mentioned is horror adjacent, rather than horror, but totally has to be watched in October 😛

I will keep an eye on what you are all watching, though, and definitely not try to influence you to come around to my way of thinking vis-á-vis what to watch, and when, I.e The Guest.

And I realise, @furiousmachine I still should literally just copy out and paste a list of stuff I have and you can then critique it and pick for me what to watch, as agreed in our student/master-oracle contract that we definitely bound in blood that one time. (Theoretically we could all do so, and pick for each other) but I'll probably just let ever changing moods lead me, for now 😅 i'd happily pick for anyone who is pondering what they might want to watch next though.
