@FuriousMachine I didn't think to check back on the thread, of course most people were aware of it before me. I agree the final joke is the best part of the teaser. Seeing Akiva Schaffer is writing/directing gives me a little hope as I found Hot Rod & Never Stop Never Stopping very funny and generally like The Lonely Island stuff. Seeing Seth MacFarlane involved tempers that hope though, although he isn't credited on writing. Will have to wait and see.
I didn't know about Spaceballs 2 though! Is it an actual sequel or reboot?

Following the talk of Val Kilmer and Naked Gun has everyone seen Top Secret? Not quite on the level of Naked Gun or Airplane for me but more than enough laughs to be worth a watch.

@BearsEatBeets I had the exact same reaction to the credits as you: Schaffer, sweet! McFarlane, not sure. I'm a huge fan of Lonely Island, Did you see their live medley from the SNL 50 concert thing?

Unsure of what "Spaceballs 2" will become; they've been calling it a sequel (and Brooks have given it his blessing; I think he may even be involved in some capacity), but I wouldn't be surprised if it's more of a legacy sequel/rebootquel in the vein of "Ghostbusters: Afterlife". Time will tell.

"Top Secret" is actually one of my favourite Zucker/Abrams/Zucker productions and I love it dearly. Been wanting to get the "ZAZ: The Collection!" on 4K, containing "Top Secret", "Airplane" and "The Naked Gun", but it's a bit pricey for my wallet at the moment. Will hopefully get it down the line, though, as those three movies are stone, cold classics!

I picked up the Criterion release of Godzilla Vs Biollante. I mainly wanted it for the cover art by Eric Powell & the poster he did too. What a movie though. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Can't wait to sit down and watch it again.

@BearsEatBeets Yeah, classics! Unfortunately, neither Timberlake or Schaffer was on hand for the live show, though. Lady Gaga filled in for Timberlake for "D*** in a box" quite nicely

@MightyDemon82 That cover art is seriously sweet! Never seen the movie; I am woefully malnourished when it comes to the old, classic Godzilla movies. I've seen the original, but hardly any of the Toho sequels and none of the non-Toho movies. Will have to do something about that.

@GirlVersusGame That's why it sounds a bit "off". I wasn't aware, but that explains a lot. When you sat your friend down to watch, did you say "I have such sights to show you" in your best cenobite voice? Please say that you did

@FuriousMachine I'm the same. I remember seeing some of the older movies on t.v. as a kid but I couldn't tell you which ones. But seeing a giant lizard emerging from the ocean to that iconic theme really made an impression.

In a moment of madness I bought The Showa boxset in the early hours of the morning. I've wanted it since release but held back due to the price.

FuriousMachine

@MightyDemon82 That is a madness I can get behind! I am occasionally struck with similar maladies and now that you've opened my eyes to the existence of The Showa boxset, of which I was blissfully unaware, odds are I will be struck with the exact same madness in the future. I will, of course, place all blame squarely on you when that happens. It's only fair, after all.

Curious how others feel about this film. I've never been a Superman/DC fan as such so the extra 'heroes' seen in the trailers mean nothing to me and seem like possibly too many characters to explain in one film. The Superdog in a cape screams kids Saturday morning tv rather serious movie so I can't say it has provided any excitement yet.
With that being said I have some faith in James Gunn as a storyteller so will give it a chance.

@BearsEatBeets I've never been a huge Superman fan, but there are plenty of DC properties I've enjoyed a lot (in particular the Giffen/DeMatteis run on "Justice League") so this may be right up my alley.
I think that superheroes are inherently silly (in a good way) and colorful, so I prefer the movies to be the same. I'm not a big fan of "grim-darkening" everything, though some properties/heroes work better in a gritty setting than others (Daredevil, Batman). Superman should be optimistic and fun, in my opinion.

So yeah, looking forward to this, I think Gunn is a very good match here. And for just a second I was a bit sceptical of the inclusion of Krypto the Dog, but then I remember what Gunn did with a talking raccoon, so U'm good

I've seriously been out of the loop about movies. I had no idea they were doing anything more with Tron so this was a very pleasant surprise.

Felt I had to revert my profile pic back to the original in honour. Fingers crossed in turns out good.

@FuriousMachine yeah to be fair when I first heard about Guardians of the Galaxy containing a Tree man and talking raccoon I thought Marvel were crazy to make a film out of that. That ended up being one of my favourite Marvel films so I'm definitely extending Gunn some slack to convert me on Superman.

@BearsEatBeets still not for me. But that was a better look than the initial trailer which made me think it would be the single most worthless DC movie of all time. The first trailer was abominable.

Good to see the Dry Devil in it, too 😅

(No idea what character the guy in the actual Superman trailer is supposed to be, but it's certainly a powerful haircut)

@Ravix If you're referring to Nathan Fillion's character with the similar haircut to the dude in your screenshot, that would be Guy Gardner, the biggest d-bag the Green Lantern corps ever recruited. I'm stoked to see what Fillion and Gunn will do with that character (who's got absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever).
