@nessisonett Yeah, that really sucked. I suspect the reason that email even happened was because they needed to address some tensions already happening between employees but sounds like he did a really bad job writing it. Like, really really bad.
@Voltan I can’t believe anybody could really write a brain fart on reproductive rights and then follow it with several paragraphs about their cat’s birthday and this paragraph which I really really hope was just foot in mouth and not an intentional comparison being made about dogs knowing their place.
“dogs really are man’s best friend, they know their place, and perform useful functions like biting burglars and chasing balls that you throw for them.”
Often I've defended Jim Ryan because at the end of the day he's doing his job and people at times almost deliberately misinterpret his words. And while I get what he's going for, the whole story about his pets just comes across as tone deaf. Sony have many studios and offices in America with some being led by women, the last thing he should be doing is risk alienating them.
Having said that I'm glad Push Square disabled the comments, would have hated to see that s*** show.
@NomNom It would just descend into a farce with people declaring that "Playstation is dead" and "Jim Ryan is the worst thing in the world" and other hyperbole nonsense. People can go to Twitter or elsewhere for that, I'm glad PS takes a stance on that.
Pet thing seems weird, but yes, someone allows for diverse opinions but that’s not allowed. Follow the program or be in trouble.Someone defends a right to life and they are a horrible person now. @Herculean I find it funny you say to respect woman’s opinion while assigning them all the same opinion. Pet stuff aside, his email was about not imposing your opinion.
@LN78 Religious language wasn't used to justify the decision, so it wouldn't really matter. And even if they had, a so-called "separation of church and state" doesn't really exist in the constitution in any unambiguous sense. One arguably should exist given legal precedent in previous Supreme Court decisions over the years, but we've seen just how much that matters to this court.
And no, nothing is going to happen to the justices who lied during their confirmation hearings. Just like it doesn't matter that one is probably a rapist and another a religion zealot. Just like it doesn't matter that the wife of one of the justices was egging on people in the Trump Administration to stage a coup. Or even that one of the seats was essentially stolen.
There is no justice in this country. Democrats will continue to cling to decorum and plead for civility as a borderline fascist political faction continues to chip away at our norms and institutions.
@Jimmer-jammer Thanks! ,man, I appreciate that. Love to listen to some of your stuff sometime too. Your piano work especially.
"Preoccupied with a single leaf, you won’t see the tree. Preoccupied with a single tree, you’ll miss the entire forest. Don't be preoccupied with a single spot. See everything in its entirety...effortlessly. That is what it means...to truly "see." "
It's sort of a tough one I guess. Because a lot of other industry leaders, including Microsoft, have come out quite strongly for pro-choice, including the funding of access to specialist medical services and support, I guess they had to make a statement.
I have a very set opinion on this but I think regardless of your view, the email was a bit tone deaf in terms of how it handled such a serious topic. Possibly batting away a serious topic to then comment that doggies are great because they don't make me write these type of emails was a slight PR mistake.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
