Heya @RogerRoger sorry for the late reply, was prepping most of last week for a parents evening that we had to quickly rush out seeing as we might not get another chance to talk face to face with the parents for a good while.

So for the screenshot competition... Would you like me to take the landscape category Rog? 😄

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy No apology necessary! From what I gather, parents' evenings aren't exactly the most fun part of your chosen profession, so I hope it all went okay!

Yeah... You got that right.

Thankfully it went fairly well though despite that 😅

No worries Rog, happy to help out like I said previously. Now you can submit a few landscape shots alongside some action related snaps if you have them!

I do quite like that landscape shot I submitted that I'll have to axe but I may try and see if I can put up something else up in the other categories in it's place!

@RogerRoger No problem, can you remind me what your PSN name is, I'm sure I've got you on my friends list?

@colonelkilgore Thanks for the tag and update and, yes - I do think we were discussing Praey for the Gods, in the context of being such a fan of Shadow of the Colossus and wondering why no other game has tried to recapture the gameplay or style.

Of note, I’m seeing a lot of SotC comparisons made on the new Solar Ash as well, so I might need to eventually check that out.

graymamba

@Th3solution I do quite fancy Hyper Light Drifter and Solar Ash as it goes... I added them to my wishlist just last week.

I wasn't a fan of SotC when I tried it a few years ago... but I do plan on giving it another go.

**** me? Nah… **** you (right in the ***)!

@colonelkilgore And there it is …. Praey for the Gods stealth dropped yesterday, as you predicted. It looks actually really good, but it apparently has survival mechanics (keeping your character warm and fed) along with non-boss battles, according to the PS article. So I’m not convinced yet as I’m not the biggest fan of survival stuff like that.

And why it released to no fanfare at all it quite concerning. Once again, looking at the PS storefront - it’s not even on the front page as a “New Release” (on the app anyways) and instead I get icons for the new F2P garbage and random games like Stick Fight: The Game and Happy’s Humble Burger Farm. What is Sony thinking? With all due respect to Rec Room and Gardenia Prologue, I would think a game like Praey for the Gods should have a little more promotion that those niche titles.

Anyways, do you think you’ll give it a go? I think it’s only $30,

graymamba

@Th3solution that is very strange! I do like the look of it from the vids I've seen... but the fact that it's received absolutely no fanfare does give me cause for concern.

I'll probably have a look at a few reviews and see what the general consensus is I suppose. If it sounds decent I'll probably add it to the wishlist.

What will it take to convince you it'll be worth a buy?

Th3solution

@colonelkilgore yeah, same for me. It’s in the same budget price point as Kena, so if I go for a new game in that realm it will have to at least get solid (at least ~7’s) reviews in order to supplant Kena. Of course I have plenty going on right now, so it’s not a rush to buy either one. But given Shadow of the Colossus is one of my favorites, then I could see myself postponing all my other games and playing Praey first, if it got glowing reviews.

By the way, I just now caught the logic of using the word “Praey” in the title. 😅. I think I read somewhere that they had to change the title because of some issue with being too similar to other game(s) (I guess it was the game Prey which would cause a conflict) so I just thought they were being weird and pedantic by using a strange spelling. But it’s actually an interesting combo of “prey” and “pray” which carries a double meaning. Cool!

@Th3solution that is actually quite cool! These situations where corporations force name changes on products, even when they're clearly not gonna confuse the audience is one if my biggest pet-peeves of late... but in this case the change actually dies add something.

I've watched one review so far and it seems great... I'll watch a couple more and if they feel similarly it'll be on my wishlist before I log off today I reckon.

@Thrillho What do you think of the first day/night test? Great early wicket from Broad eh?
@Th3solution @colonelkilgore Before you buy Praey it might be worth your while to read this: https://www.reddit.com/r/ShadowoftheColossus/comments/an5a79/...

@TheBrandedSwordsman thanks for the heads up. I do think the game has a challenge in order to keep a SotC inspired style but yet not copy it too much. I basically want a game which is akin to SotC and has a beautiful world, lack of random enemy encounters or grinding, a mind blowing narrative, and yet handles and controls like a modern game. So it looks like Praey might not quite be that. I am still curious about it and haven’t ruled it out yet. I’ll wait to see what the PushSquare review says.

By the way, how are you doing? Have you chosen a follow up game after finishing Fable? I was going to start Demon’s Souls in earnest, but the Christmas holiday has me doing a little travel soon and I don’t want to start and then have to stop for a week and then restart. I want to be able to just sink my teeth into when I do start it. So instead I have played a little more Rime (speaking of Team Ico inspired games..😄) which is still lovely but a little slow. I still want to complete it first and maybe just do a few random short experiences over the next 2 weeks like play the new Matrix demo, maybe some Tetris or a racing game or something. I don’t know, we’ll see. Maybe I’ll just not play a ton of video games just yet. How about you, any holiday plans?

jdv95

so sony filed a trademark for the order 1886 recently.

sequel coming?

there where those rumors about someone seeing gameplay with a character in a familiar uniform some 2 years back, with people claiming it to be the order related.

jdv95

Voltan

@jdv95 Or is it just a "refresh" of the trademark? I'm not sure how these things work, honestly but I'd definitely play a sequel.

Th3solution

@jdv95 I’ve always felt like The Order IP has potential. I quite liked the game. It would be interesting to hear and see what the behind-the-scenes discussion was after the game flopped critically and commercially. Ready At Dawn studios sure has had a fall from grace since then. They had some decent work they had done and just disappeared into thin air and are doing VR only for Oculus?

Anyways, I don’t know why we have a million games set with Ancient Greek mythology another million now set in Norse mythology, and about 2 million set in the Marvel and DC settings, and are flogging those legendary narratives but haven’t really had much creative gaming approaches to the ‘King Arthur’ or the ‘Knights of the Round Table’ universe. It would seem there is a wealth of material to make some great games based on it. Granted The Order 1886 is pretty loose with its relation to the Knights of the Round, but at least it’s something.

Maybe the sequel to The Order 1886 is what Bluepoint is working on, as it would be right up their alley.

NedStarksGhost

@Th3solution I'm with you, whilst flawed there was potential. Always found the world of The Order 1886 really intriguing. Sony really should revisit and improve upon it, there's a good franchise there.

Voltan

Looks like this was right after the original trademark expired, so most likely it's just to keep the name "reserved"...

@Th3solution I'm good thanks, I haven't chosen a follow-up game yet ,I was thinking about SotC though, funnily enough, because I've only played up to the third colossus, I thought I had a bugged copy after my character wouldn't grip properly but hopefully it was just me pressing the wrong button or something, and I'll try again, hopefully it'll work out for me this time. You? Just Demon's Souls once you get back from your trip? Tell me more about that, is it work-related or what? So playing that and guitar and seeing family friends constitutes my Christmas holidays. I think you mentioned seeing friends and family yourself? How's that going?

@NedStarksGhost Focusing on jazz guitar and reading the Berserk manga at the moment (the partial inspiration for Dark Souls) games-wise I recently completed Fable II on the Xbox 360 and am considering Shadow of the Colossus as my next game, what about you?
