Topic: Question about game over in FF games

I know in Final Fantasy 6 after a game over you go back to your last save but keep all your experience points gained between previous save and game over. Is this the same for all main FF games?

Well your esper bonuses aren’t carried forward so you’re still punished for dying. It’s not a thing in about 90% of FF games though, VI is the only one I can think of unless you count the MMOs and XV for having auto save.

@Don Nope it's not a regular feature. That said FFs from 7 onwards are easier to finish and game overs are rare if you pay attention (other than fighting Seymour in FFX the monster!)

Thank you for the info. If the experience points are not saved when KOed in FF7 and FF9 I would be extremely tempted to turn on the cheats in the PS4 version if I’m in a situation where I gained quite a bit of EXP and is really close to getting killed just to survive the battle and turn it off afterwards. As for FFX, I actually completed the main game but couldn’t beat the optional bosses. The only other FF game I completed is FF4 (PSP version) and am currently in Kefka’s tower in FF6.

@Don Save points are spread out well in FF7 and FF9 plus you can save on the world map. The only times I died in those games were when I tried to rush through a dungeon or took on a boss far too early. They’re not particularly difficult games.

Most of the games will also give you opportunity to save before big boss fights; I can’t remember many occasions where I would stumble on a boss really.
