I dont get my hopes up till practice 3!
But the onboards on the Ferraris seemed to suggest the car was much less twitchy than recently, so hope springs eternal....
Piastri seemed a little further back than usual, and Im allowing for his slow starts to the weekend, but I certainly wouldn't bet on him staying there, hes bound to be pushing near the front tomorrow.
Looking forwards to it all 😀

@themightyant True, but I do believe Ferrari put extra effort/money on trying to do well at Monza.

Looking forward to qualifying tomorrow to see where everyone truly is. I'm doubtful we will see teams using there cars to try and give each other slipstreams anymore, I think the cars run so little drag nowadays that it's not worth the hassle.

Was not expecting George Russell on mediums to lead Q1. Could be in for some surprises here.

@BearsEatBeets indeed! I thought he might struggle to quality but still won Q1. They didn’t have a huge delta on Softs. Medium could be handy in the race

I was totally wrong about the slipstream not being that valuable anymore. It looks like quite a big advantage.
Could be about to get an exciting grid.

You can never count Verstapan out...

I've got a feeling this might be a dull one. With everyone running such low downforce DRS won't be enough to get overtakes done. Not sure we will see much variance in strategy either. Could all be decided by the first corner or pitstop.
That excellent qualifying lap from Max might get him another win like Suzuka.

Started so well with a few overtakes in the first few laps, but ended up a bit of a procession. The McLaren team still trying to spark up some drama at the end with the slow stop, but other than that nothing much to see. Was surprised McLaren on softs were only lapping the same pace as Max on hards. Max even picked up the fastest lap on the hards. In clean air that red bull is a beast.

Additionally tough call for McLaren, but I think they made the right call. After confirming “there would be no undercut” to Lando and him giving up the first pit stop to Oscar they likely had to switch or they won’t play the team game in future.

@themightyant Yeah the first several laps were great but nothing after that. The McLaren pit wall must not have believed it when that second stop messed up and gave them the headache. I agree it was the fairest thing they could do. I wouldn't be surprised if they just stopped giving an undercut to a following driver regardless of the situation.

Max must be looking forward to Vegas after that, maybe Baku as well. Dominated that race.

Hectic qualifying so far. Trying to follow the athletics and the football at the same time is making it even worse. Potential for some shocks.

This could be anyones....

Edit: ....except Ferrari...what a disaster for them!

Wow this is crazy. Going to be tight for people to even put a time in. Lando pole now would be huge.

6 red flags! Longer than the race! Absolutely bonkers

My Word!!! Looking forward to the race tomorrow. One of the craziest qualifying sessions I can remember.

Bonkers qualifying led to bonkers race. Title leader Piastri out on Lap 1, but Norris not really in a position to capitalise, not helped by a slow pit stop for a second race in a row putting him 2 cars back.

Meanwhile Max looking like winning a second GP race in a row while the McLaren’s drop points.

Action all over the track! Possible rain. What is happening. lol

What good fun. Its a shame that the drs trains so effectively stop overtaking in many situations.
Respect to Sainz, great drive and there on merit.

The race wasn't quite as entertaining as I was hoping. Eventful at the start but the DRS trains meant there was less overtaking than I had hoped.
Another wheel gun mess up costing Lando dearly.
It's going to be very interesting how Red Bull does when we go back to high a downforce track at Singapore. Will RB be less competitive again or is Max a true contender for every race now.
Good result for Yuki for once.
Really pleased for Carlos and Williams getting that podium though.

Couple or interesting / random facts.

1. After his DNF Oscar lost less points to Lando (6 points) than if Landon had finished P1 and Oscar P2 (7 points difference)

2. Carlos Sainz has a podium this season Lewis, who replaced him, does not. (Though Lewis does have a sprint win, pole and a lot more points)
