@Titntin yes! He’s just so consistent. Other than the mistake in Melbourne I can’t think of many Oscar’s had all season. Whereas Lando keeps making small ones that add up over a season.
Wow! That was a bizarre finish to Q3. Both McLarens lost half a second from Q2. Great Lap from Charles, that must make Lewis feel even worse about his position.
Conditions must have really changed somehow for Q3.
15 degree drop in temp really mixed that up. Great lap for Charles, as you say, must be another dagger in the heart of lewis.
Im willing to bet its an orange car that leads into the first corner tomorrow!
Blimey! That Hamilton interview. That man needs the summer break.
@Titntin I've got an strange feeling we might see some sort of contact going into the first corner. I hope the conditions tomorrow result in a closer battle between Charles and the McLarens.
I totally didn't forget the Hungarian GP was this weekend and thought the Summer break had already started. Not at all...
On a side note, seemed an interesting quali. Aston Martin doing somewhat well is a welcome surprise. Lewis definitely does not seem happy in that Ferrari. I think the honeymoon period has sadly ended.
I also read that, mathematically, McLaren could win the WCC as early as Baku. That's insane.
Not an overly exciting race but a good, tense finish. Well done Lando, I didn't think he was going to be able hold on to that.
Superb race from Bortoleto and a quality day for Aston. Very interesting radio from Charles, curious to know what it was all about.
Was away camping this weekend, but just about managed to watch quali and the race. Qualifying was bizarre with both Mclaren's and others slower in Q3. Many mid-runners improving, getting into the top 10 and Charles just put a lap together. His radio was hilarious, he couldn't believe it. Which was only confirmed in the race. Some great overtakes and an exciting finish, I was only watching with one eye on my phone but it seemed fun.
So Bottas and Perez for Cadillac next year. Not a major surprise to anyone I don't think but a sensible duo for a new team. I imagine once they've had a couple of years to settle in and see where they are at they will try and get an American driver but experience early on will be priceless.
@BearsEatBeets ooh nice, thanks the update, am on holiday and missed this.
Makes a lot of sense for a new team to go with experience, will be interesting to see how Perez does after Red Bull and a year out. Same with Bottas really.
Not sure I’ll be able to watch any / much of this weekends Grand Prix, but excited to get back into the action. 10 races to go, all to play for.
Now we'll get to see which number two driver is going to be the better number two driver and which number two driver is going to be number two driver to the other number two driver.
Good qualifying session for the first race back. It was always going to be a fight between the Mclarens for 1&2 (and it was an extremely close one) but the rest of the grid was wide open. Awesome result for Hadjar. The Astons (or should I say Fernando) not able to match their practice performance again with Stroll's sloppy wheel dip onto the grass really messing up.
I wonder how Hamilton is feeling about that session? Not too far back and pretty much matching Charles.
Not sure they have mentioned the weather for tomorrow but hope we get a good fight between the front 2 at least. Bring it on.
After all that I’m in the middle of a massive thunderstorm on holiday so ended up watching that.
Piastri got to be feeling good after pipping Lando to pole. Max and George about where you’d expect. Hadjar… where did that come from… great drive.
Charles and Lewis about where you’d expect though as you say @BearsEatBeets I wonder how Lewis will feel he was only just behind 0.05s but looked competitive.
Lawson also did well in P8 plus Sainz and Alonso round out top 10.
If I say I can’t watch the race it will be rain tomorrow, so I’ll say I’ll watch it all.
Pretty eventful race if not the most exciting for overtakes. Gutting for Lando and creates a monumental swing for the championship. Lando would probably have to beat Oscar in every remaining race to have a chance now (baring more DNFs).
Very happy for Hadjar, a quality weekend for him. Nightmare weekend for Ferrari.
I wouldn't be surprised if the upgrades Ferrari have brought to Monza are made specifically for this track. They are probably willing to take a hit at other tracks or revert this 'upgrades' for the next race.
Got to assume Lando not really trying for a fully quick run, not on the softs at least.
I would love for Williams to continue like this through the whole weekend, maybe even a cheeky podium.
