@themightyant I think he realised with Oscar now in Kimi's DRS he might not get another lap that close again and it was now or never. Plus maybe a tinge of frustration as he hadn't got it done after pipping him to the hairpin before the long straight. Like I said a split second choice whilst extremely close at top speed. A real shame as he had driven a great race to get to that position.
Just watched the 2011 Hamilton v Button version everyone mentioned.
Super happy for young kimi. Had a great weekend after a few bad races.
Norris is going to end up throwing his chance this year. At 22 points McLaren will start to favour Piastri, especially if they can’t run off into the distance.
Fantastic drive for pole from Norris. Hes so quick when he keeps it on the road.
Good to see the Farrari's in second and fourth, thats better than I was expecting this weekend.
@Titntin Yeah surprisingly good performance for Ferrari although Oscar and Max might have pushed them down a bit if they had been able to get a decent second run in. Don't think either would have beat Lando though, he managed to nail every session this time.
Great display from Bortoleto as well.
Austria is a good track for overtakes so hopeful for a good one tomorrow.
Of course the one week I take Bortoleto out of my fantasy team, he rocks his best ever qualifying. Happy for him nonetheless. Let's see if he can keep in the points tomorrow.
That Gasly spin definitely robbed us of a closer fight for pole though. Need a cracking race from the Mercs tomorrow.
I hope Albom can have a great race because Williams seem to be having some terrible luck of late. Curious if we see any mechanical issues due to the heat in the race.
@Kairuuu Very close call. Exceptionally close to clipping the back of Lando. Not surprised they told Oscar on the radio that was too close, don’t do again.
@BearsEatBeets Yep Williams are fast but keep getting DNFs and other eventful incidents
It's looking like it could be a great race for Kick Sauber and Haas. I imagine Ferrari would be quite content if it stays like this as well. Long way still to go though.
Good response from Lando, dominant weekend and just 15 points behind Piastri.
DNF puts Max 61 points off the lead which seems too far now… surely? (It’s a long season though) and Merc DNF means Ferrari overtake Mercedes for second in the constructors Championship.
6-9 in constructors also on knife edge. Sauber now 2 points behind Aston, 3 behind Haas, 10 behind RB.
I'm feeling another McLaren 1-2 with Piastri winning against Norris with Verstappen some ways away in 3rd. I also think Hamilton will either have his best or his worst race of his Ferrari career so far.
@Kairuuu I'm away all weekend which wasn't very well planned. Will be watching it all on catch up at some point.
But I hope Lando might pip Oscar, tighten up the championship a little more.
With Max dropping major points in 2 of the last 3 races 61 points seems like a LONG way back in the championship, especially with both Mclarens finishing on the podium in almost every race, unless there is a mistake. (They also both finished 4th in one race)
Thought talking of championships we'll only just be at the half way point after this race as Silverstone is 12 of 24 so still a long way to go and things can change quickly.
As for everyone else i'd love to see a bit more competition towards the front whether that's Max, or the Mercedes, or the Ferrari's. Behind is currently where most of the excitement is.
