Topic: PS4 sudden output issue

I encountered a weird problem with my TV output and I am hoping someone could point out what may be the problem.I turned on my PS4 and all of sudden there’s no signal on my TV under that HDMI setting. I don’t think it’s any problem with power because the system light is on and I checked my HDMI it’s plugged in. There were no unplugging of any cables from the system or TV and the last time I used it a few days ago everything was fine. Anyone know what may be causing the problem? Is it likely the HDMI cable?

Due to no image on the TV I couldn’t use the controller to turn the console off and had to unplug it. Will this corrupt the external hard drive plugged to the console?

I appreciate any feedback.

My OG PS4 did the same thing. It lost the signal. I had to enter safe mode and then my TV kicked in 720p mode. It seems my PS4 lost it's 4K setup somehow. But entering safemode fixed it, and I could start my PS4 in that mode and reset my 4k options under systemsettings after a reboot. So try that and choose Option 2: Change resolution.

How to Start a PS4 in Safe Mode
Ensure that the PS4 is completely off. Press the power button as usual, and it should blink a few times before your console powers down.
Press and hold the power button. You should hear a beep when pressed and another one seven seconds later. ...
Your PS4 should have booted up in Safe Mode.

Just a warning, DO NOT choose options 6 or 7 or you might reset your entire PS4 to factory default.
Options 2,3 and 5 is ok, but 5 will make all your folders go away, not the game installs, but you need to redo the folders and put you games back into them, so watch out.

I hope you get it to work !

Every 4K should read 1080p. Same problem, different resolutions. My mind mixed it up with another problem I had with my Pro a few years later

@Zeke68
Thank you for the suggestion. I will try the safe mode. I would like to figure out what caused this problem, it was so unexpected too.

I totally understand. It was the same for me, PS4 booted up but no screen (or rather,a black screen) but I solved it as I described it above so I hope it works for you too 👍
