As someone who has suffered from severe depression and anxiety in the last two years I know how valuable it is to know people are there for you and to be supported.
So henceforward I have formed this chat, if you are having a bad day and need someone to talk to, or are seeking advice feel free to leave something in the chat and hopefully people including me can help you out.
If you ever want to talk in private then feel free to hit up my Twitter @DonJorginho and I will always be free to talk to you and help you out.
You're not alone in whatever you are going through right now, I promise.
@linq Thank you man, as someone who has thankfully recovered from trying to take their own life I felt it would be good to provide support for those so noone would ever have to go through that.
I am so sorry for your loss man, and just know I am always here for you whenever you need to talk.
Gaming and music are what help me mainly, whether it is making my own music, listening to my favourite artists or just working out to some songs it always gets me boosted.
Gaming is something I love when I am in need to get away from some of the harsh reality we find in day to day life, it offers temporary escape and relaxation.
That is great to hear man, feel free to add my psn SamxSZN if you ever wanna play something (If we both have it lol), and I hope you enjoy the gaming!
And yes mate exercise is very vital, I have always been a bigger lad but a bit of football, running, walking at a pace or just taking the dog for a walk is a massive benefit for your physical and mental health.
Hope you're all good though mate and feel free to follow my Twitter if you use it and DM me to let me know its you!
@QualityGeezer hey man, with myself having an uncle who suffers from severe bipolar and where my job has me work with autistic children on a daily basis you have all my respect and support as I know how hard it can be sometimes due to the things I've seen and talked about with people.
Know that you can talk here whenever you want and me and others will all be here for you mate.
I just made an account for this site after seeing this topic specifically.
Thanks for taking the time to set up a thread on this subject, because it is very important to many people.
Sometimes we all just need to reach out to each other over common interests like gaming, music, or reading. My personal therapy, other than making and listening to music, has been college. After getting past high school, and a misfire at a tech school, I went into a community college and kept going from there.
Now I have a Master's and no clue what is next. But, I'm glad to see folks are reaching out to each other online in a positive way.
@TBK_bee17 Happy to have you here on Push Square mate and I agree it is an important subject and conversation to be able to have on here for people, that's why I made this thread as I understand how something as small like this can make the largest difference for people.
And I also make my own music so happy to have that in common, do you have twitter at all brother?
@DonJorginho - Great topic. I have Asperger's and as a result suffer from secondary depression. I don't post much here on the forum, mainly lurk but as @RogerRoger pointed out, just knowing this topic exists at a place I visit regularly is a bonus. Thanks man.
@DonJorginho Yeah you deserve kudos for setting this thread up. It can sometimes feel like the internet is just people shouting at each other. This goes to show that's not the case.
Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.
@Shigurui I am sorry to hear that man, just know that me and countless others are always here for you if you ever need support, advice or just someone to talk to about all sorts.
No need to thank me man, I just wanna help people like I was helped when I needed it most.
Hope you have a fantastic Christmas if we don't manage to speak before it.
@Gremio108 I agree a lot of the internet is overly hostile and due to that it is no surprise that cyber bullying is become a larger cause of depression amongst many young people.
Just know I am always here if you need to talk anything bro, whether it be on here or Twitter.
Is your name Gremio after the football club or am I just being naive? Feel free to correct me lol!
Hope you have a fantastic Christmas if we don't manage to speak before then man and stay safe.
@DonJorginho Ha, I've been asked that before on here about the Gremio team. It's actually from a character in the Suikoden series, but as a result of being asked about the team, I've ended up watching out for how the Gremio FC are doing from time to time. They were unlucky in the Copa Libertadores last year!
Merry Christmas to you too!
Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.
I just read the following article which resonated with me quite a bit. I totally agree that video games can be a great help in taking your mind off things, and have personal experience of seeing it help someone through a tricky patch.
@linq No problem and glad you liked it! Not played Celeste as not really into pin point platformers, but Thumper is definitely something that had me interested in. Just the description 'rhythm violence' had me!
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
Never thought I would have to use my own support thread but here goes..
I am booked for an appointment with a doctor on Friday after work as have hit a massive wall, I have had suicidal thoughts for the past month and a half non stop, I have tried to make myself happy during work, doing exercise, playing games and watching film, and interacting with people on here.
But it just isn't working the way I want to, if it wasn't for my loved ones and my younger sister especially I would have taken my life by now and I just feel so alone, I have friends but not as many as I used to have, but even if I did, I don't know if that would help.
I get anxious a lot and suffer from multiple panic attacks per day when I have to control myself from breaking down and have to block myself in the Work toilet in the fear of someone noticing my vulnerability.
I am just feeling so low and feel like I am worthless, so before I do something I regret, I am going to the doctors in the hope of receiving some form of medication as I just don't know what to do anymore.
Sorry to be such a downer, but I needed some place to vent it.
@RogerRoger Thank you for the kind words, I cannot fathom how much it means to me for your kindness and support, you are one of the best people on here and seem like a genuinely great person (unsure if you're a guy or a girl so I will say person lol).
It has been rough for a while and I decided there is only so much I can do and it would be a good decision to get a professionals advice, whether it is counselling or medication I go onto, I truly believe it will help and I want to make this year a great one so want to fight this with all my strength and as early on in 2020 as I possibly can.
I definitely feel similar to the ways you are describing, where I can actually see the light through the crack and know I just need that little push to finally prise the door from its hinges. And don't be silly, your words are of such value to me and your kindness intertwined with those words mean just as much as having a companion so seriously thank you, thank you a lot.
I would love to get in touch with some people on here (including you) on other social media sites such as Twitter if you use them as it would be nice to talk to more mutuals outside of PushSquare and have more direct conversations.
And thank you for holding out hope for me, and I am certain your hope will come to fruition once I see a Doctor and get the ball rolling on what will hopefully be a very good change in my mental health.
@RogerRoger Right place and time for sure! None the less I am still grateful for your kindness and support man so thank you a lot (as you said, bloking it up 😉).
I will definitely keep an open mind with professional help, and will try my best to not let any bad experience phase me and set me back further and I will build on the advice you are giving me, and I do hope you are in a much better place now as you do seem very strong mentally (which I wish was an attribute I had!)
I will definitely come back to your advice and this thread whenever I feel myself slipping but am hoping that professional help will give the equipment to finally climb the mountain we call Mental Health and hopefully I will reach its peak!
Ah smart choice to keep your internet presence to here as I can assure you Twitter can be rage inducing if you run into many popular trends and see some of the "clever" opinions. However I will definitely add your PSN at some point later tonight and will pop in a little message to let you know it is me!
And I treated myself the other week funnily enough to a 40" 4K UHD HDR Smart TV and have got some games to get through to enjoy on the new display.
My picks are between Horizon Zero Dawn or Metro Exodus (I got those both around November for my evergrowing backlog and am wondering which is more worth experience first.)
