@HallowMoonshadow Fabulous! Congratulations and welcome to the circus!

Similarly to previous generations, I started out with leaving my PS4 hooked up and planning to still use it from time to time, and then as the months went by I used it less and less and now when I try to turn it on and use it I am annoyed by how slow it is and how grainy some of the games look.

I still like the feel of the DS4 controller though, and when I pick it up I realize how much of a downgrade the DualSense is in the comfort department. But I love the haptics and the adaptive triggers, so it’s worth it.

The PS5 UI takes a little getting used to, but overall it’s fine. One of the first things to grow accustomed to is the fact that you don’t have to open an app to the store, it’s ever present on the cross media bar. Well… the first thing is actually getting accustomed to the behemoth size and awkwardness of the unit itself. It’s grown on me, but it’s still cumbersome to move and deal with, especially if you set it up horizontally on the little stand that keeps it floating in the air. 😅

Enjoy the exclusive (few) games, the upgraded boost and PS5 patches to existing PS4 games, and the much quicker download speeds! What’s your first PS5 game going to be? I hear Baldur’s Gate 3 beckoning… or perhaps Demon’s Souls Remake…?

@Yousef- You can use the DS4 with the PS5 also, but only with playing PS4 games via backwards compatibility. I just wish the DualSense wasn’t angular on the handles and smooth like the DS4. It doesn’t nestle into the palm quite as nicely

The PlayStation 5… without a doubt, my favorite thing on the PlayStation 5… definitely can’t wait to purchase a PlayStation 5 to get PlayStation 5 on my PlayStation 5

Oh wow... This reminds me of an old meme I saw when I read scans of the manga series bleach back in the day... That makes me feel incredibly old

No for real, happy for you sis!! Still don’t have a ps5 : ((
I’m too comfortable with my ps4… series s… switch… steam deck… to feel wanting a ps5, but it’s still been on my list forever despite that. Maybe one day.

Awww thanks!!

The only modern console I have is a PS4 so... I could really do with an upgrade finally. Only took me half the generation!

Well I have to play Astro's playroom first and see what all the hubub is about with the dualsense controller @Th3solution! Especially after having a phone call with my daughter during my lunchbreak and she wouldn't stop gushing about it!

I have a few PS4 titles that also have PS5 version (both digitally and phyiscally). But it's a toss up between Shin Megami Tensei 5 Vengeance and Baldur's Gate III for sure! Maybe SMT 5 just because I know if I play BG III I might be up til 3am or something

@Yousef- Interesting to know you have an Xbox just in order to play GTAIV, do you think you will ever try any of the Fable or Witcher games on there as well? I loved the first Fable and TW3 (admittedly I played that on Ps4, though).

@Yousef- Fable is really easy to get op in if you are willing to farm for xp for a bit, as, from what I remember, there is only a negligible amount of increase in xp price from level to level as you are spending your xp points on leveling up, and there are some very powerful spells that you can get your hands on as well.

Edit: Plus with all the options, like buying property, getting married and so on it's a bit like the open world rpg equivalent of gta.

@HallowMoonshadow Oh yes, definitely start with Astro’s Playroom. It’s a gem. But it sounds like your daughter has told you all about it. 😄

And with the news about the next big BG3 update coming in September, it might be worthwhile to postpone it (if you can stand the wait) and spend your time on SMT5. I’ve been waiting on this big Sept update to see what mods will be available and get the performance even better.

Ha please I'm fully aware of Ape Escape @Yousef- the game that demanded you have a Dual-analogue/Dualshock controller!

I've played both Ape Escape 1 & 2 (But never three).

I've played the original version of Snake Eater with Snake VS Monkeys too that features those delightful monkeys

She didn't spoil anything I didn't already know, just first hand impressions of the new tech @Th3solution.

And yeah that's no doubt the smartest thing for me to do, especially with that information!

The UI really has took some getting used to.

No qualms about the dualsense so far though!

Now I personally love the Japanese audio as I find the voices really cute, but the British dub is objectively superior to the American dub and respects the original Japanese names too. It’s no competition at all.)

Darn right I have! It's not the best dub ever in terms of actual quality but it's quite charming none the less. Especially as most the voice cast for Ape Escape 2 is from Children's TV over here! (I actually haven't played Ape Escape 1 since it released back in 1999 so I can't recall that one! (It is on my wishlist though and I'll be getting it soon-ish!))

@colonelkilgore
I wasn't previously aware of that Crackpet show game but it looks like it could well be something I'd get on with so thanks for the tip.

My most recent purchase was Jeanne D’Arc. I know I could have simply downloaded it with my PS Plus subscription, but I also wanted to own it a la carte for good measure.

Pizzamorg

Just bought College Football 25. I also downloaded a bunch of stuff like Zenless and Jeanne D'arc.

Was my local CEX had a copy of Dead Space remake in for £25 so took a bunch of stuff I no longer had need of and they came to £24 credit. So I purchased Dead Space remake (PS5) for One whole pound. Pretty happy with that.

@sorteddan
Oh Dead Space remake, a great game and a fun platinum (as was the original). Enjoy.

I actually just bought Severed, but for my Vita. I never got around to playing it and for some reason it’s been on my mind. It should be a good game to platinum.

@Kraven
Yeah good game that, as you say a good game to platinum though I do remember some mad swiping with the final boss/level and your finger will work up a sweat but nothing too difficult as I recall. Enjoy and great to again see some Vita action.

Max_Headroom

Dead Space remake was one of the first games i played on the PS5 and i loved every minute.

@sorteddan I do that a lot and it’s a real high when you’re able to flip some old games and end up with a new one like that. Occasionally I’ve sold back a game that I later wish I still had, but that’s not very often, and I figure I can always re-buy a game years later, and usually it will be quite cheap by then anyways.

Forgot to mention that when I bought my PS5, I actually got a copy of The Witcher 3 Complete Edition for free with it.

And a few days later because I'd bought and set the PS5 up between the start and end dates for some special event... I also got 3 months PS Plus Premium for free?!

So I may've downloaded about 20~30 games the past week!

Th3solution

@HallowMoonshadow Whoah! That’s awesome. Your family and friends will mourn your complete absence from their lives for the next 3 months. Don’t forget to peek at the sun every 2-3 days.
