F*** you, Sony 😭 I've caved in and got your stupid expensive controller. at least the sticks are in stock for once, though. Heads up to anyone needing the spare analogues at retail price rather than scalper prices
A little background flavour. The regular dualsense that came with the Pro is already drifting worse than any controller I've ever owned, and is leading the other controllers in the drift contest by a country mile, which makes menu navigation utter hell 😅
It feels like they make these things worse than ever. My first bundled controller that came with the PS5 was pretty chunky feeling and lasted years, with other subsequent ones all doing relatively okay, despite getting lighter.
The Pro only came out 4/5 months ago, and the controller gets no more use than any other 🤷♂️
@HallowMoonshadow As maligned as it was, Hogwarts was my GOTY for 2023. Really great game if you like the source material and don’t mind the whole open world collectathon.

Yeah I liked the films and the books so I was always going to get it eventually @Th3solution.
I was just waiting to see if it would get that rumoured DLC and re-release before buying in but seeing as that was supposedly cancelled recently though I decided to finally get it... And now it arrives on PS+ Extra the day I purchase it lol

Wow, I just did something I very rarely do these days: I pre-ordered a game! The "new normal" pricing of new releases is just to dear for my tastes and I honestly don't think many games are worth it. So whenever a new game comes along that interests me, on the wishlist it goes, awaiting a sale with a price point worth it.
However, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a game I've been excited about for a long while now, turned out to have palatable price point and considering that I want to play it right now (and I mean really want to), pre-ordering was a no-brainer. Now I can hardly wait for the 24th to roll around
@FuriousMachine I'm similar, but I've no issue with the price of games as I can personally afford to buy the games I'm interested in when they release. I just choose not to most of the time and the game has to be really special for me to pre-order it. I think only Elden Ring and the expansion I've pre-ordered this gen.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@JohnnyShoulder Yeah, I can still afford it, though not as comfortably as I once could. It's just that I don't think games are worth it at that price point. As an example, "Star Wars: Outlaws" would cost me, with the current exchange rate, $85 for just the base game, which is quite absurd. And this is at a time when the exchange rate for NOK to USD is at its most favourable in years. So that dreaded "will games RRP at $80?" future is already here for me (and has been for a while).
@Kairuuu I know! Been a long time since I've been this excited for a new release. I watched IGN's "final preview" earlier today, and just what he said about the storytelling alone was enough for my excitement levels to hit the stratosphere. Add to that the unique setting, the astonishing graphics and what looks like a fantastic combat system, this could quickly become an all-time favourite for me, if it delivers on its promises.
@FuriousMachine If it delivers, it'll be my game of the year, without a doubt. I was sold the second I saw that shot of the Eiffel Tower folded over and I've been needing this game ever since. The art direction just looks phenomenal and it looks like it's going to have everything I could want in a video game.
@FuriousMachine@Kairuuu I’ve been tempted by the Clair Obscur pre-order discount. It saves $5 to pre-order, and as you say, it’s actually launching at a reasonable price anyway ($50 here). I’ve hovered over the pre-order button a few times but as it stands I have so many titles lined up to play that it will have to review astonishingly well to cut in line ahead of the other games I have. So as of now I’m holding off, but I’ll be very interested to see how everyone likes it!

@Kairuuu@Th3solution The release timing is quite fortuitous as well, for me, as I've just finished up a long stretch of "Marvel Midnight Suns" and I've started "Life is Strange 2". I typically try to not have more than one game going at any given time, as it too often leads to games going unfinished as focus wanes, but this rule doesn't really apply to "Life is Strange" type games. There is a good chance that I'll finish it close to release of "Clair Obscur" and, if not, I think I'll be able to alternate between them without any problems
@Th3solution@FuriousMachine You'll have to let us know if you pick it up. I don't think we have a dedicated thread for it so I'm considering possibly making one where we can discuss it if a few of us will be playing it.
Sorry Hogwarts Legacy but you're on the backburner cus I just bought The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
Couldn't help but give into the shadow drop hype. Oblivion is SOOOOOO much better then Skyrim to me so I'm really looking forward to playing this gem once again!
@HallowMoonshadow I’ve never played Oblivion. I’m sure I can find this elsewhere with a simple google, but in your experience and opinion, why is Oblivion better than Skyrim? That’s probably a complicated question, so apologies. I really loved Skyrim back in PS3. Among my favorite games of the entire generation, actually. But subsequently I’ve not felt any desire to play it again, nor it’s DLC. I think I spent so much time in that world that I really had my fill. Is Oblivion really all that different? In my mind I’m imagining it to play like an expansion to Skyrim so I’m having a hard time getting hyped. 😅
Just out asking the big questions huh @Th3solution?
I will admit bias with the original Oblivion being my first Elder Scrolls title and a lot of my critiques will be in comparison to Skyrim. (I also don't want to type Oblivion and Skyrim a hundred times from here on out so I'll call Oblivion "IV" and Skyrim "V" from here)
For starters... I kinda despise the nords in V (Which is like 80% of the entire cast) so that's always a good start
Especially as I like playing as an Argonian, Khajit or an elf so I get all the hateful dialogue from those snow eating idiots
I never really cared for V's setting of Skyrim honestly -Which is disappointing as I do like a good ice/snowy level in a game- and I really didn't like the dungeons either (Not that IV's are much better).
Bleak Falls Barrow in particular to get the Golden Dragon Claw in V is the constant wall whenever I tried to replay it to give it another chance before giving up on it for the umpteenth time.
Wasn't a fan about the two big storylines in V either anyway. The dragons returning main quest is rather boring to me (Plus after IV and liking the Blades, they came off as really stupid in V) and the civil war is just laughable. Let the Jarl's (Especially Ulfric) burn for all I care.
In particular I thought the Dark Brotherhood storyline was a significant downgrade compared to IV's. Whilst I would say V's has a more "notable" cast (As in I can remember a few more names)... That's about it really.
I don't recall there being a whole lot of actual assassinations happening in V whereas that's most of the starting storyline for the DB in IV which a bunch of memorable/interesting missions (A pirate ship, a bandit camp, the ONE everyone talks about set in a mansion).
I liked the thieves guild in IV too where you actually had to go around stealing and selling items to fences and hitting a certain quota of gold before the next quest would be given to you (It's laughably small but it actually tried to be thievery related and built itself up from petty thievery to the hiest of the century compared to what I recollect of V's questline.)
The other guilds I don't remember as well. The Mages guild has an interesting set up with you having to get recommendations from each city's chapter before you can really dive into the meat of the storyline.
The arena literally just exists to give you a good amount of gold and the fighter's guild... Is about as interesting as V's equivalent of the companions.
I don't recall any of the side quests in V either, completely and utterly unmemorable to me, whereas I can recall plenty in IV (I can't recall most of the names of them and don't wanna spoil the premise).
Also I liked the levelling system in IV (As awkward and cumbersome as it originally was) whereas V's dumbed down pick either Health, Magick or Fatigue to up ten points and get a skill point always annoyed me with it's mostly percentage based perks.
There's also the DLC. Whilst I wouldn't say Shivering Isles is the best DLC ever like most would... It's a LOT more interesting then whatever V's was that wasn't the vampire one (I actually remember that one a bit if only for Laura Bailey voicing the main vampire gal).
I can't think of anything else right now... I hope that helps answer you question a little Sol~!

HallowMoonshadow
You’re no longer a wizard Harry, now you’re a stealth archer.
That did give me a good chuckle. All roads DO lead to stealth archer Cap! Especially with the new levelling system...
I started playing it as soon as I could too @GirlVersusGame. Went through the entire tutorial to see/feel all the new changes only for the game to have 60 gigs left to download at the sewer grate to leave!
I did beeline it to the Shivering Isles once it was finally done to see how that looked last night before heading to bed.
Gonna actually restart the game with a proper character and build I want, take it at a more leisurely pace~!

It does sound like Oblivion has some unique things going for it. From time to time I get tempted to replay Skyrim, just to see if I get obsessed with it like I did ten years ago. By virtue of PS+, I have access to the Special Edition on PS5 so it would be nice to play without the PS3 issues that the game had back then. But I have usually wanted to prioritize newer games instead. Perhaps Oblivion is worth a look instead if I get a Skyrim itch. Sounds like it’s a great one!

@FuriousMachine@Kairuuu For the Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 hype club, it looks like the game is going to live up to lofty expectations! The recent review has me even more tempted to drop an impulse buy. 😅
