Vampire Survivors in coop with family. The multiplayer experience is way more fun than I expected

I beat the First Sinner In Silksong on Friday night, but with the excellent Mount Fay section in the game, I was inspired to boot up Celeste. I've gone back and 100% Chapter 1, getting 3 trophies for my effort.

Just dropping in here to ask: anyone been playing Hades II since v1.0 released a little over a week ago? I've been playing myself and having a fantastic time, so if there's anyone in the same boat who wants to exchange thoughts, let me know!

@wildcat_kickz Glad to hear you've had a great experience with the Resident Evil 2 Remake! You seem like you're on a similar path as myself, considering that was my first survival horror title as well and played it almost a year ago to the day. By this point, I've finished all of the modern post-RE6 titles and their respective DLCs. Hope you're making solid progress on the journey yourself! It's easily one my favourite gaming franchises now and I see why so many people fell head over heels for it. Resident Evil Requiem can't come soon enough!

And let me know how you get on with Alan Wake 2. I played the first one in this last year as well since the start of my love for survival horror, but I haven't gone onto the second one so far because I'm under the impression I need to play Control first to get the most out of it. I'd started the game, but... it didn't quite grab me and now it's sitting there as a roadblock inbetween me and the sequel, haha.

@Tjuz Thanks! I just wrapped my first playthrough of RE3 over the weekend. Really enjoyed it, though not quite as much as RE2. It's a really great companion to RE2 and I love how the narrative crossed over, running almost in parallel.

I have RE4 installed and started it, but as soon as I finished the opening section in the village, I felt this pull to go back to RE2. I guess I wasn't done with that police station yet, haha.

So, I started and finished a first run with Claire on Normal difficulty. I even tried busting out a few trophies along the way with this playthrough (no storage, beating G2 with one crane, etc.).

All in all, I really enjoyed RE2 and RE3 and I'm sure I'll love RE4.

@ButterySmooth30FPS Glad you're enjoying Mindseye! I doubt I'd personally give it a whirl unless it was included in PS+ Essential, but I always thought the premise of the game was cool. I also think Alex Hernandez was fantastic in Mafia 3, so it's not surprising to hear he's great in this, too.

Do you have a sense of how far along in the story you are?

@Tjuz I'm looking forward to picking up Hades II when it finally surfaces on the PS5. Loved the first game and managed to get the platinum so hopefully this one is just as good.

@wildcat_kickz Happy to hear you got along well with the RE3 Remake too. I think it is my least favourite of the entries I've played, but it's still a very competently made game that's hard to dislike. The fact that it runs parallel is very cool as you say, and the buttery smooth engine and visuals really do a lot to make the cinematic nature of it stand out and fun to play. I understand from fans of the original games that a lot was cut from it, which is the reason it's ranked lower by veteran fans apparently. I think it definitely could've used a bit more meat to it, because while I enjoyed the game in the moment, I think it's easily the most forgettable one.

I finished Resident Evil 4 Remake only two weeks ago myself and you're in for a great time! Truly a case of saving the best for last, because it jumped to number 1 in my personal rankings above RE2 Remake. Definitely understand that you want to spend a bit more time with the latter before venturing into this wholly different environment, though! The Raccoon Police Station is some incredible level design. It's funny, because I played Dead by Daylight long before I played the RE games, and they obviously have a franchise crossover there. That also means that one of the maps in rotation you can play on in DBD is the Raccoon Police Station, and it really struck me how faithfully it was recreated in DBD. Aside from a few variances here and there, I basically knew the whole layout of the station before I ever set foot in it proper due to that game.

How was your first run with Claire? Did you enjoy the differences in the campaign compared to Leon? When you end up playing the RE4 Remake, make sure to pick up the Separate Ways DLC as well. It's a meaty DLC that's basically length of the entire RE3 Remake and does the same thing as that in that the extra campaign runs alongside the main campaign, just from a different character's perspective. I think you'd really enjoy it if you were a fan of that in RE3!

@Thrillho Ah, I had no clue Hades II was not yet on PS5! I see now it's console exclusive to the Switch for the time being. I've been playing on PC and just assumed it was out everywhere, but that explains the lack of discussion on this particular forum. For what it's worth, I've been having a grand old time with it and think its superior to the first entry. I have no doubt you'll enjoy it yourself when it does eventually make its way to PS!

@Tjuz I definitely enjoyed Claire's story. I think the personal focus of her and Sherry makes for a more compelling narrative, compared to Leon's and Ada's grander, conspiracy-driven story. I had already played her "2nd Run" campaign, so I already knew the large narrative differences, but enjoyed replaying it all the same.

Currently playing Ghost of Yotei with my wife. She likes riding around on a horse and exploring while also playing the gambling parts. Then I play the story and the fights.

Yesterday we downloaded Goat Simulator 3 to play with the kids. A perfect game for a 7 and 9 year old to just go crazy and create chaos.

@Tjuz Better than the first game?? Nice.

Hopefully this one doesn’t give me repetitive strain injury on my thumb from hammering the dash button so much

Level 37 of 60 Vigor at the moment in ELDEN RING, still preparing my build for the DLC, then have to go up an additional 7 levels with Endurance and then my build, stats-wise, will be complete, just have to get all the extra equipment I need and slay the mandatory bosses that I need to take down in order to gain entry to the Lands of Shadow. Dexterity is currently at 80 and I am rocking a Keen Nagakiba +12 as my main weapon, planning to get it to +18 before entering those darkened lands that have discouraged so many a player before me.

Goat Simulator 3. It's a much more polished experience than the first one and really chill considering you are out to ruin peoples lives and cause mayhem. I don't know if I'll push for 100% but it seems like a fun little game to pipe a podcast or audiobook into so maybe. I'm curious to see what kind of easter eggs are littered throughout the world too, the opening had a strong nod to Skyrim 'you're finally awake' but with goats in the cart not Stormcloaks.

@HallowMoonshadow Glad to see you are enjoying the game I'm just so happy to see SIlent Hill is back in the forefront of GAMING DISCUSSIONS again (been way too many years since it was this relevant).

Yeah The combat has never been top notch in any of the games, but I feel Konami/Neo-bards shouldn't hide by that. Don't get me wrong the combat is servicable just needs some refinements (imo of course).

Honestly this maybe recency bias, but the Japanese voice actress for Hinako should win the VA award this year because it was just that captivating (sorry Ben Starr and Jennifer English).

I’ll be on Battlefield 6 all weekend if anyone wants to squad up.

Abiotic Factor. I'm a few hours in an it's absolutely brilliant. I get why it was so positively received on Steam and I'm glad I gave into curiosity and checked it out.

Well, @Oram77 just gave a pretty scathing review of Forspoken. I think that would definitely fit those criteria. Maybe Dragon Age: Veilguard? The Callisto Protocol? Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League? Saints Row? Heck, any chance you have one of those rare copies of Babylon’s Fall or Concord? 😂

@ButterySmooth30FPS I have been keeping an eye on Unknown 9, actually. It looks pretty decent, and I think it reviewed okay. It just generated no buzz at all and I think it got a lot of hate from the anti-woke crowd.

Others that could fit your criteria (much derided, high-ish budget): Hellblade II, Lost Soul Aside, Atomic Heart… I don’t know, I guess those reviewed reasonably well, but just didn’t live up to the hype.

Whatever you choose, I’ll be curious to hear how it goes. I think it’s noble of you to give some of the maligned games a chance.

My progress in Hollow Knight: Silksong has ground to a halt in Act II and I realized a few hours into my second play-through of Silent Hill f that I was doing something that would render new endings impossible to earn (seriously check out the ending requirements before beginning new game plus - they’re on the title screen but I somehow missed it) so feeling somewhat frustrated I fired up Cronos: The New Dawn just to check it out. Very glad I did. It’s extremely well done thus far and I think I’ll just roll with it for now.

@Metonymy Real talk, I feel Cronos is slept on by a lot of people. I have said this before but considering this is Bloober's second game with actual combat in it, they have done a extremely good job with it! My only gripe with the game is I think it goes on for maybe 3-4 hours too long. But playing Cronos has solidified my faith in them nailing the Silent Hill 1 remake.
