Played the Ghostrunner 2 demo and it was very fun (unsurprisingly).
It also reminded me that I didn't play the DLC for the 1st one so I'll be doing that, while also trying to beat Chicory before it's taken off PS+ next week
@Th3solution I did find parts of the Uncharted games a bit of a slog at times. The section on the train with a helicopter after you which seemed to go on for ever, I seem to remember a particular bugbear of mine.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@JohnnyShoulder Some of the cinematic styled action set pieces do go a little overboard, and the cover shooting is a bit bland in some sections, depending on your preference. But UC4 adds some grapple mechanics and some stealth mechanics, amongst other things, which freshen it up. But yeah, there’s still a goodly amount of bombastic Hollywood style sequences which may or may not click for you. Lost Legacy is likely to be up your alley though because of its more focused approach, in the sense that it’s not very long anyways and the gameplay experiments with some light open-worldness that makes it feel a little more updated and different from the first four. Playing as a different protagonist also is welcome, as much as I really like Nate. As amusing and lovable as he is, his character depth isn’t exactly cavernous. 😄

Tried out The Crew Motorfest and Star Ocean: The Second Story R. The Crew doesn't feel good to play at all compared to Forza Horizon. It's too arcade-y, while Horizon has the perfect blend of realistic and arcade controls. It feels more like Need for Speed than Horizon, especially when considering that there are drift and nitro buttons in this game. I was planning on buying it on day one, but I'm glad that I didn't. I'd rather wait for Forza Motorsport next month for my racing fix (besides Onrush that I'm playing now that is).
Star Ocean looks incredible! Pixelated characters with detailed environments is such a unique look! I probably won't get this game at launch but I'm definitely buying it eventually.
@Bentleyma I don't think HD-2D would fit Star Ocean 2 considering it was originally a PS1 game. HD-2D games are more based on 8-bit/16-bit titles.
Looking at old PS1 footage, the characters were pixelated while the backgrounds looked pre-rendered. So I think the way they did this remake makes sense in all honesty.
Lies of p. Its a superb game but does have a couple of niggles but overall its an outstanding first effort and i'm eager to see what they can come up with either dlc or a follow up game. FromSoftware should use their game engine to run their games in the future as its very obvious its much better.
Replaying FF 7 Remake and doing the DLC after which I haven't got round to until now.
I do hope that they stick to this model for Rebirth in terms of combat I prefer it to 16 which I enjoyed and was flashy but this one just feels better.
In my usual pivot after completing a game, I’ve gone from HFW to Inscryption which is a somewhat baffling game but one I’m slowly growing to like.
I know a few on here have played it and I’m intrigued to see where this is going to go as I recently got the roll of film and just need to beat the boss now.
Finally sinking some playtime into Lies of P. Brilliant game so far and an improvement of what I played in the demo (beating the first boss).
I’m having a blast so far and I’m sure it’s only going to get better. I’ve just beaten the Mad Donkey and I’m approaching the next boss. I hope I won’t struggle too much.

The more time I put into Lies of P, the more I'm enjoying it. Some of the shortcuts you can unlock are quite creative as they're often more than just unlocking a door from the other side, which is quite neat. One of which required pulling a lever to change the rotation of this giant cog wheel that you can now use to lift you up to the floors above. I suppose it's not a huge deal, but it makes a change than what I mentioned previously.
I'm still getting to terms with the Perfect Guard system, but it really just comes down to understanding the attack timing of whatever enemy or boss you're fighting at the time. Speaking of bosses, the current one I'm up to currently is... interesting. It's a great boss fight and it has a really cool design, even though it's absolutely teased me with a cutscene after I 'killed' it, and I knew right away a second phase was imminent, and then I got absolutely destroyed.
Loving the game so far. It is early days but I think it could be a toss up between this and Armored Core 6 for my Game of the Year this year.

@KAIRU I’m definitely curious about Lies if P. (Less so, AC6 which I’m not sure is of interest to me). Bloodborne is certainly one of my favorite games, and although I hear the Bloodborne similarities are light, Lies does seem to have a really cool setting.

As you mention Game of the Year, I think this year will be one of the most intriguing discussions in that regard. I feel like it’s been one of the best years in modern gaming, as far as sheer quantity of great games. It may not hit the absolute highs of previous years, but there’s so many games to put in the discussion that it will be interesting to see how it all shakes out.
Each of the major consoles has a high profile (and in the case of TotK and Starfield) long anticipated major exclusive release that is critically acclaimed as well as beloved by the fans. Of course I’m assuming Spider-Man 2 hits, but I just can’t imagine a reality where it bombs.
There’s also still a Mario game coming out soon, but I haven’t heard much about that.
But on top of those “big 3” we have so many multiplatform and third party heavy-hitters too. Baldur’s Gate 3, Hogwart’s Legacy, Jedi Survivor, Final Fantasy 16, Diablo 4, Resident Evil 4 Remake, Dead Space Remake, Street Fighter 6, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Mortal Kombat 1… Not to mention some of the more niche games like Armored Core 6 and now Lies of P, along with smaller titles like Rogue Legacy 2, Octopath Traveler 2, or Sea of Stars which will have their advocates I’m sure.
It’s probably a 3 or 4 horse race, to be honest, but a case could me made for probably 10-15 games that legitimately are GOTY material. (Obviously I’m not speaking from personal experience with all these games but I’m just going off of critical and commercial success and overall general “buzz” about them)

Edit: I know I’m jumping the gun because we have a quarter of the year left, but it’s already an amazing collection this year to consider.
I'm still currently farming souls and full moon grass in Demon's Souls Remake, leveling up Str and plan to level up End next. I then intend to obtain Curse Weapon and a couple of items to mitigate the health drain that you must accept in order to use it. I intend to wield Curse Weapon with the Dragon Bone Smasher, two-handed for maximum damage, with the aforementioned couple of items for minimum health drainage. OP build: dead-ahead!
N.B I already have the Crescent Falchion+1 & Vitality & Magic leveled up to 50 apiece.

@Jimmer-jammer Yeah, it’s brilliant so far. Well worth playing when you get the chance!
That particular mission in Armored Core 6 gave me quite a bit of hassle as well. I think that was the first real roadblock I had that pretty much forced me to change up my AC because I kept having ammo issues. It was a tough one!

@Jimmer-jammer I went with tank legs, dual gatling guns and rocket/grenade launchers on both shoulders. It honestly demolished everything. It did feel kinda easy and I felt like I was cheating so I had changed it up for my NG++ run.

Okay, so the Black Rabbit Brotherhood boss in Lies of P can bugger off. The key to the boss unfortunately relies on using my biggest weakness in soulslikes: perfect parrying.
It’s always been something I’ve struggled to do consistently and with this particular boss doing lots of slashing and cleave attacks, it’s not just as simple as dodging out of the way.
Not to mention the other certain gimmick this boss has, whereby every time the boss loses 25% HP, the other members of the brotherhood, one at a time for each 25% HP you deal to the boss, come down and attack you, outnumbering you. It’s really difficult, but I’m definitely determined. Just not tonight.
Ultimately, it’s in the timing, for the most part. Hopefully I’ll be more successful tomorrow. Cracking game so far.

@Jimmer-jammer Nice job! Getting pretty close to the end now, I think! Be sure to play through two more times if you want to experience the true ending — it’s well worth it!
Another couple hours of boss struggles in Lies of P but I’ve finally succeeded in killing the King of Puppets. I managed to understand the first phase quite well and was starting to get past it and into the second phase without too many issues but man, that second phase was really tough in the beginning.
I kept trying to Perfect Guard (parry) the second phase’s attacks like I was in the first and I’d die almost instantly as a result, so then I decided to try to dodge and sidestep the boss’s attacks and that helped me out tremendously.
These boss fights are picking up in difficulty for sure but that’s part of the game and considering the game is obviously a soulslike, I wouldn’t have it any other way!
If anyone else is playing this, by the way, I’d love to know where in the game you’re up to!

Made some great progress in Lies of P over the weekend. I think I'm in the 'late game' now as there has just been an attack on Hotel Krat and the world is literally falling apart. It's gotten very interesting and the last few bosses do feel like they've had a little bit of a difficulty spike, and the current one I'm on right now, which is a variant of the Black Rabbit Brotherhood is absolutely insane.
It's been a really solid game so far and I've been very impressed with what I've played in my ~35 hours of playtime.
