For me, it has to be Ratchet and Clank. I loved the atmosphere, gameplay, graphics, and feel more than anything I’ve ever played. It was a short but awesome game that I loved!! I’d love to hear what others are!

As far as PS5 exclusives go, I have only played Demon Souls. Which is kinda weird, having only played 1 game for the system in the year I have had it. I don't regret my PS5 though since it runs PS4 games better. Also, Demon Souls was really good.

(I played a little Astro Bot too!)

Returnal for me. A game I started with no real expectations and got my mind blown.
Runner up would be Miles Morales because it got me in the feels hard

Ratchet was also great and a true showcase of the console’s capabilities - but it also kinda was just more Ratchet

Demons Souls for me too… much like @kyleforrester87, I haven’t played many PS5 specific games yet (though I’m accumulating a PS5 backlog already) but it would take a lot to top it even if I had. Returnal will be my next PS5 game… and from what I’ve seen, it ‘could’ supersede Demons Souls.

**** DLC!

Returnal, i wasn't even interested in this game at first but decided to give it a try after all the positive reactions. Now it's probably my favourite game of 2021.

Returnal 100% - gripped me from the start, and seemed to be a perfect mix of Hades/Souls with the atmosphere of Prometheus.

Incredible game, honestly never thought I'd beat it...!

Like others Returnal is the standout title for me. It's put everything else in the shade in terms of both story and gameplay and really shown what the PS5 is capable of.

Very much looking forward to Returnal but I do bounce off rouge likes and having waited this long already I will keep waiting until it’s more like £30

+1 for Returnal

A great showcase for the resistive triggers, 3D audio, and just how damn good looking games can be on the PS5. It handles like an absolute dream, has an intriguing story, and some truly excellent boss fights.

Brilliant game.

Astro’s Playroom. I played Returnal too but Astro will stay with me a lot longer. Just a brilliant game.

@kyleforrester87 I've been the same with rogue likes and was trepidatious about giving Returnal a go, but Returnal felt a bit different to any I've played, and ended up loving it. There maybe better looking games, but Returnal so far is the most next gen feeling game I've played with the way it implements 3D audio and the Dual Sense controller.

Astros playroom for me, I really enjoyed what I've played of demon souls (I keep meaning to go back to it I had got to 4-2) and am hoping for a returnal copy for crimbo now it has a save system as well as a shot of ratchet off my mate. However, astro as a love letter to sony systems and a showcase for haptics is tough to beat. Not only my favourite ps5 console experience so far but one of my favourite games of all time. Genuinely, no game has made me smile as often as atro! Miles morales was also excellent but as its a ps4 title also, I'm not sure it fits here.

Uncharted2007

Astro's Playroom. I mean... it's only been a year so there's not much competition. There also hasn't really been anything released on PS5 that's been something I've been genuinely excited about. In fact, the first game that's confirmed coming to PS5 that I'm excited about is Instinction and that's a year off. If Ninja Turtles Shredder's Revenge gets confirmed for PS5... odds are that'll release before Instinction but so far it's not confirmed for Playstation.

As for Astro's Playroom, it was a fantastic start to the generation by looking back at the history of the brand. Making hardware pieces through the years be unlockables was ingenious and a nostalgia party. My kids also enjoyed the game. The music was fantastic. It's the best pack in game to ever grace a console launch.

Will also pile accolades on Returnal and Astrobot, which were both fantastic. I think I’d give Returnal the edge on my GOTY and game of the generation so far.

If I include the games I’ve played on PS5 which are patched PS4 games then I’d also like to include Control Ultimate Edition. It became one of my favorite game experiences of the last few years and I know the PS5 build was a big part of what made the game run so well and be so satisfying. I heard many stories of the PS4 version chugging along and crashing, so I steered clear of the game until it came to PS5 and I have to say the game ran perfectly for me, smooth and beautiful 60fps with all the dynamic movement and enemies on the screen, as well as wonderfully rendered in 4K with ray tracing when playing fidelity mode. Loved every minute of it and to me it did feel “next gen”.
Contrasted with other PS4 games which I played the PS5 upgraded version (FF7R, Plague Tale, Subnautica) which although they seemed to run nicely, just felt like slightly touched up PS4 renditions, rather than true “next gen” games.

Still haven’t played Ratchet or Demon’s Souls. I suspect both of these will likely blow my socks off when I do.

Even though Final Fantasy 7 Remake was probably my best overall experience over the first year of the PS5, it was my second playthrough of the game, so I'd probably have to go with Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart then. It brought me back to the PS3 days, which was some of my best times with PlayStation since that's when I first experienced a lot of their exclusives for the first time.

@Th3solution I'd argue that A Plague Tale: Innocence was better than just a touched up PS4 version. Yes, graphically it wasn't a huge jump, but it did make great use of the DualSense features. I was actually surprised given that Asobo isn't a large studio and the game wouldn't be considered AAA even though it basically was.

Loving all the answers!!! It seems so far the by far most popular vote is Returnal…..one of the only PS5 exclusives I’ve yet too touch!!! Looks like my opinion may be changing from ratchet to returnal depending on how it is!
