Just wondering if there was any fans of Koei / Tecmo's work and the Warriors franchise?
I've always been a big fan of Dynasty Warriors since I play DW2 on PS2 waaaay back in the day and then me & my friend used to play co-op on DW3 for hours on end!
It wasn't till I grew up much later that I realised DW was partly made up of Romance of the Three Kingdoms and was littered in story telling and history. My mind was blown!
Later I played Samurai warriors 5, Warriors Orochi series and the Zelda spinoffs like Hyrule. I think they are all great. Somewhat button mashy but you can always turn your brain off and just play.
I'm looking forward to DW3 remaster for some major nostalgia vibes but its been delayed. Here's hoping we hear something soon!

Warriors Abyss is being added to Plus so thats a big one for me too! I've been wanting to play it for a while now but didnt know if it was particularly any good or worth the price. Glad i'll get to try this one out now

I loved Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate. Dynasty Warriors 7 was huge for me! It was the first time they told a more cohesive story and had the introduction of JIn i think?
I recently just played through Dynasty Warriors 8 and finished it last week! I'm playing Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate. The story sucks but the roster and the battles are pretty decent!
I'm gonna get started on Warriors Abyss next too i think when it comes to PSplus
I played Origins too which i did enjoy. its not quite a DW game at its foundations. It does give a good sense of epic battles though. i will say that! I miss all the characters though. Thats always been my favourite bit. The variations of how each play, their strengths and weaknesses etc.
I was waiting on DW3 remaster but then it got delayed which is annoying. I had been fancying some warriors action again so I decided to play DW8 to scratch the itch. Now its got me hooked all over again!

Did you play Berserk Band of the Hawk? i've played that one. I quite enjoyed it but i was guttered that it was heavily censored though! I didn't know Arslan had a musou game. Thats news to me!
I was tempted to dabble into pirate warriors but i know nothing about One piece and feel i missed the boat on this 1000+ episode anime. i dont feel i'd ever catch up! haha!
Gosh i've got a copy of DW6 on my PS3. Dont tempt me to dust the cobwebs off that and play it too!
That renbu system drived me crazy but I remember having fun with the game to be honest.
@Elodin Yeah! Definitely a chill series. Always a good way to feel like a badass and decimate entire armies with swipe of a staff or sword!
I stayed away from DW9 - I heard too much bad word about it but I nearly did try it. I was gutted when it came out and it got panned. Just stick to the formula and build on top of it adding more and more. I think thats all the fan want. Maybe more levels and interaction with the battlefields. More combat skills, moves etc... A great epic scale of the battlefield and more soldiers on the screen that don't disappear! Little quality of life updates.

@Mes_Urson I'll second you on the great fun couch coop with the earlier ones. My roommate and I would plan the whole map out and played enough to know what events happened when and where. Also how to get the awesome weapons and I think it was a red horse that was extra fast if I recall you could get as well.

Hahaha cleaning red off the map is my thing.
Do not pursue Lu Bu though! He was terrifying in the earlier games. He'd just look at your level 2 character and it was game over.

So I have been playing Warriors Abyss and im unimpressed. It feels like a port of a mobile game. It has the bones of something that could work, but it falls short in so many areas. The idea of connecting and building relationships to then have as support is nice. The runs are way to short and limited. They could have done more there. Also the lack of camera movement hurts as well. At least I was able to play for free with plus. I do not recommend this. I'd much rather play any of the other ones.
@Elodin Oh no. I thought it would be one of those titles thats like marmite, either love it or you hate it.
I'm definitely going to give it a go and i'll post my findings in here most likely. I've just go so much to do with Warriors Orochi 4 Ultimate at the moment I cant seem to put it down.
I was really hoping DW3 remaster would of been released by now too but still nothing on that front!
I need a more Warrior games to play because theres too much of a dry spell on them at the moment!

Which characters are your go to's when starting a new game (or a old one if you choose to play it again)?
I suppose this also answers do you go with Wu, Wei, Shu or Jin?
@Yousef- Good shout on the Jin team. I always like Sima Shi for his EX moveset. It absolutely deletes crowds of people on the map.
@Elodin Ahhhh same! Guan Yu is always a beast. I do love the bromance Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei team. They really do have some epic moments together!
I've always liked the obvious ones too like Lu Bu, Sun Jian, Ma Chao, Zhao Yun and Zhou Yu.
Big fan of Zhou Tai too. Its like Vergil from DMC moveset but on Dynasty Warriors.
Least favourites are the fan characters. I like all the strategists but their movesets always seem to be the worst with the fans etc
@Elodin Yeah, theres just some weapon types that might be "good" or "ok" in concept but just miss the mark when implemented it seems.
I still like the characters but when I see them with one of those type weapons i'll be avoiding them if i can help it.
Some, in the past iterations have pretty good crowd control moves but they just don't appeal to me!
Give me Lu Bu's spear / pike type weapon or a unrealistically large sword any day.

I've only played SW5 i think which is a reboot or retelling?
I actually quite enjoyed it too. I think it got a lot of hate for new style and looks but I remember it playing quite well I think? Might have to give that another go now!
@Yousef- Ahhhhh god I wish i had a decent PC to emulate games.
I always end up playing megadrive games because that stops it from blowing up haha!
Played Hyrule Warriors age of calamity? Or the Original Hyrule Warriors?
@Mes_Urson I have enjoyed the last couple samurai warrior games. There were 2 older ones that were too linear in structure that I did not enjoy, but the later ones are on par with Dynasty Warriors.
My favorite of all of this style of game ate the empires. Civ lite with Dynasty Warriors is quite fun
