I just noticed something in one of the Push Square articles also was wondering if someone can confirm (and I apologize for always asking weird PS5 questions) —
If you have a physical copy of a game that has a free upgrade to the PS5 version, once you download the upgrade, are you not able to ever purchase the actual PS5 digital version?
It seems a silly thing to worry about; why would I ever want to buy a game that I already have, right? Well, there have been times that I’ve converted over to digital from physical. Also, it actually is not uncommon that I’ve owned a physical copy, then if the digital is given out on PS Plus I sell my physical copy knowing I can always download the digital.
Surely if you delete the game data from the physical version then you can once again have the option to purchase or claim the PS5 version from the store? But I guess since you’ve already “bought” it by virtue of downloading for free via your disc, then you’ll forever be tied to having to keep the old PS4 disc as the key to access it? What if I convert later to a digital only PS5? I guess I’d be locked out of ever playing that particular game?

@Th3solution I have a PS4 disc for Sackboy, upgraded to the PS5 version on my console. I just fired up the PS app on my phone to check and it's listed at full price so looks like you can purchase it.
I don't have any other upgraded games to check if it's true for others as well but looks like the problem you described doesn't exist.
At the bottom paragraph:
“This means that if you purchase a physical copy of any of the games listed above, you won't be able to upgrade to the PS5 version if you purchase the PS5 Digital Edition”
I might have misinterpreted that. Now reading it I think it means if you were to buy the PS5 digital version then you can no longer claim the free upgrade....? That’s an even weirder circumstance. 😅
But it’s good to know the option still exists to covert over later to the digital version.

@Voltan@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy 😂 Ah man, what am I thinking? How did I read that wrong? 😛
“...if you purchase the PS5 Digital Edition console.”
Where I read it as:
“...if you purchase the PS5 digital edition of the game.”
In my defense, the whole article is about upgrading the games to PS5 versions so my brain didn’t switch gears to which console to buy. The fact that the digital edition can’t take a disc is a given. 😅
But I guess PushSquare had to clarify that in case someone thinks they can claim the PS5 version from their PS4 and transfer it over to their digital PS5 ... or something.
Well, regardless — I’m glad I got my stupid moment out of the way early today.

@phil_j I immediately bought it yesterday after discovering I lost over two hours of grinding in Persona. Had to comfort myself somehow, but I definitely should have wait!
Always the way. It's £9.09 in the sale, not a huge drop, so not the end of the world.
Yeah I always wait till the latest sale drops or the latest PS Plus/NOW games are announced before buying games on psn these days, if it is close to happening.

I just watched a match in the Soul Calibur VI Tournament that's going on right now. They're playing on a PS4 Pro and I'm 99% sure one of the players was using a DualSense. I thought they didn't work with PS4?
Random curiosity fact: the front USB port now works to recharge DualSense while PS5 is in Rest Mode. Not sure since when this is happening, just tried it today.
I just made the version error with dirt 5. Largely because they upgraded with from the demo which was the PS4 version. You can really tell the difference between the two versions particularly the rumble but also the lack of pop in on PS5. I’m now playing for 120 Hz mode. But I don’t think I can actually tell the difference between 60 and 120.
@Thrillho I did, actually. PS5 had a known issue on many units where the front USB didn't recharge the controller in Rest Mode for some reason. It shouldn't happen to anyone now. =)
