I maintain the walmart walk in is the best opportunity to purchase a ps5. Early monring, before store opens form a line. chances are you will probably be alone since its after Christmas, thus risk of covid is rather minute. Will be going for a second purchase this week using that formula. Good luck to all still on the search!!
I think I'll just call EB Games and ask to be put on my local store's waiting list to pick it up in store. I'm about to completely give up on this "online only" bs
@Bentley-Ma- I must admit I feel the total opposite, I agree if you have a ps4 pro and its a year or 2 old then yeah I would definitely not rush in to in, your only missing access to a few exclusives but I had a year 1 ps4 and I can tell you now that even though I haven't played one single ps5 game (apart from Astros playroom) its been so worth upgrading to the ps5 for reasons such as loading speed, noise, joy pad, Internet speed which was always good on ps4 I would get around 110mb but now with the ps5 when I test I get around 160 to 170, even minor improvements such as graphics which admittedly don't bother me to much anyway. The main 2 are the loading speeds and the noise and I can tell you now I played The Last Of Us 2 on my ps5 and the difference was incredible well worth having a ps5 over a ps4 just to enjoy the quick and easy load times.
I held of playing Ghost Of Tsushima, Final Fantasy Remake, Death Stranding, The Last of Us 2, Days gone and I even stopped playing games like Warzone and the Division 2 because of the load times and noise of my ps4 and I even changed the thermal paste 2 year ago and give it a good clean out every 2 years now I feel like I finally have a piece of hardware that will easily run these games
@MaulTsir Agreed! Though our Ps5s at the moment are mainly used for playing ps4/crossgen games. I cant imagine going back. Everything is just so much better, smoother, faster that alone is worth it to me.
And to be honest they really are getting easier to get by the week, at least here in the US. If someone wants one as is paying attention, its much much easier than the last 2 months. At least one retailer drops some every weekday
@redd214 Lucky! Can confirm that the situation hasn't really improved on the other side of the pond. The console hasn't been on sale in a store since early December. We have a website that tracks all Dutch stores, and the last time it was for sale was on December 4. Yikes! A friend of mine has been waiting for weeks to pre-order one. I don't see it improving anytime soon.
@Octane I stayed up all last night since Argos were getting stock in and then scalpers ravaged their stock and there wasn’t any released in my area. Got a bit of sleep in and woke up in time for Very to release roughly 5 PS5s that sold out in milliseconds.
@Octane Wouldn't call it luck as much as them catering to their largest market for the time being, fair or not. Though it also means that production is seemingly getting better which is a good sign for everyone.
@Octane you are right when taking all of Europe as a whole, I may be misremembering but I believe the US is the largest single country. I think I remember reading that though I totally may have made it up in my mind hahah. That's moreso what I meant though I can see how my comment may have caused confusion.
@redd214 Uh... I’m in the U.S. and still struggling. (Although it’s not nearly as bad as it sounds in some European markets). I’m not watching every retailer but they still seem to sell out in minutes everytime I see them drop. I guess it’s an improvement over a couple months ago if you mean selling out in 12 minutes is better than selling out in 5 minutes. At least there is supply coming every few days I guess, but it hasn’t really done me any good. I’m hoping for the day that I can log in on my own time at the end of the day and causally purchase a PS5 rather than having to be there at the perfect 5 minute window in the middle of a weekday.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
I had an email this morning from Amazon informing me that my purchase of the PS5 entitles me to 25% off 12 months of PS +. Strange to get it now, a couple of months later, but will probably take the offer to extend it cheaper. Anyone other buyers from Amazon UK get the offer?
@redd214 yeah just the fact that it improve the experience of playing ps4 games is well worth it in my opinion.
I'm afraid as far as getting one here in the UK it seems more likely of seeing a unicorn or completing every souls game with out dying once. Retailers seem to get very limited stock and obviously seems like the scalpers seem to know in advance when they drop
@MaulTsir yeah I definitely feel for you guys over there! Got faith that it'll improve reasonably soon. I don't think you'll see em just sitting on a store shelf like I have seen the Xbox Series S/X multiple times, but I hope it gets better.
Anyone have the Steel Series ps5 headset? Currently have the new Pulse 3d one but thinking about giving it to my son and getting that for me. Wondering if anyone had any opinions on it.
@kyleforrester87 Ha! I've done the same thing a couple of days ago. When you know you can't be bothered to get up from the sofa to plug your controller in for an update...
Just for kicks, I was browsing the backwards-compatible website that was mentioned in the article yesterday. Since I’m playing it now, I looked at God of War to see how it’s performance compares across consoles and I noticed on PS5 it’s actually able to get to 2160 resolution at locked 60fps if it’s unpatched. If patched then it only gets 30fps at that resolution. It seems counter-intuitive that a game would perform better before it’s patched. Doesn’t make a lot of sense. I guess maybe when the patch things they have to sacrifice graphical integrity to fix the other problems they are working on?
