Topic: Most Anticipated PS Studios Games?

Posts 1 to 20 of 28

RBMango

This is my first forum post, so forgive me if this is redundant or in the wrong topic area.

I keep an updated list of upcoming PS Studios on another site, and I was curious which of the upcoming PlayStation Studios games you all were interested in the most?

In order from not really to super excited, my ranking would go:
MLB The Show 21
Gran Turismo 7
Returnal
Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart
God of War 2 (I have doubts the subtitle will be Ragnarok)
Horizon: Forbidden West

I loved HZD and GoW 2018, so naturally, the sequels are the games I'm looking forward to the most. Rift Apart has potential, but I'm a little bit iffy because I didn't care for R&C 2016. Returnal seems cool even if I'm not normally a fan of rogue-lites. GT7 and MLB are at the bottom because I'm not a car nor sports guy.

I really hope they announce some more upcoming games soon. I'm always curious to see what cool stuff they have up their sleeve.

GT7 and MLB 21 are must-buys for me. A proper Spider-Man sequel would be cool as long as it really takes advantage of the hardware and has a bit more interactivity with the environment. Plus pizza deliveries! God of War should be great but I think it’s still a while off.

Right now it's mostly Ratchet. I'm also curious what Returnal turns out to be because it looks pretty cool but I'm still not 100% sure it's a game for me

@Voltan I don't know if you've played Hades yet, but that game is something I hope Returnal can at least match in terms of replayability, variety, and storytelling.

@RBMango Plus Hades is like £50 cheaper.

God of War is without doubt the game I'm most excited about. I very rarely buy games at release any more except for sports games like Nba2k or the show and even I skip a year or 2 but God of War along with Mass Effect will be the game I have to buy straight away.

Horizon Forbidden West, I loved the first when I really thought I wouldn't so yeah looking forward to it.

The Show 21, I've played 19 religiously since it came out, its a time sink and sometimes distracts me from games I should probably be putting hours in to instead but I'm a big baseball fan and I think especially mycareer mode gives you the best experience of any sports game.

Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart, well because I recently played the first one on ps plus collection and really enjoyed it so want to continue this journey.

Returnal has my interest but will definitely wait a while.

Resident Evil Village because I'm a fan of the series.

Final Fantasy XVI same reason as above plus I love the whole era their going for.

Games I'd hope to see in the future

A new Mass Effect(I know its been announced)
A new spider-man possibly leading to avengers(avengers done properly in the style of the first Spiderman would be brill)
Some sort of Titanfall game
New games, new games, new games. I hope this generation concentrates a lot more on new games and not remasters as much. I want new experiences as much as I've loved games of the past the only remaster I'm excited about is Mass Effect but to be honest if you told me to choose between having Mass Effect available or 3 new experiences I'd choose the latter.

@RBMango unfortunately I don't game on PC and don't have a Switch so no - I've heard so much good things about it that I'm willing to get it if it comes to PlayStation though - even though I'm not really into that kind of gameplay loop normally.

Voltan

RBMango

@Voltan I'm not either. Rogue-lites usually are a big turn-off for me, but I gave Hades a shot because I really like Supergiant's work. I was amazed by how addicting, deep, and fun it is. Without getting into spoilers, it also does some really clever things to incorporate the repetitive gameplay loop into its story and dialogue. When it inevitably comes to PS4, I would highly recommend checking it out.

Voltan

@RBMango Will do! And yeah, sounds like Returnal is trying to do a similar thing, so hopefully it succeeds too

Th3solution

@Voltan Yeah, I get the impression that the repeat runs have a definite narrative purpose in Returnal. It will be interesting to see how successful it ends up, since Housemarque hasn’t really done narrative driven games before. Their mojo has been the arcadey flashy gameplay loop. To add some character development and story will really stretch their talents. I feel good about it though. I said it elsewhere but it has potential to be like when Guerilla Games taking a genre leap with Horizon Zero Dawn. Hopefully it works out as well as that did.

@Th3solution I think I'm leaning towards getting it at launch. Still got a few weeks to decide so we'll see

@Voltan I'm on the fence with Returnal too. Never really enjoyed Housemarque's previous games but really like the look of Returnal. If there was a demo I would be all over that.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

We're all looking for to Horizon Forbidden West and God of War so I'll skip them on this list

While it's not PS Studios, it is a PS5 console exclusive Final Fantasy 16 is easily my most anticipated next to Kratos.

I honestly feel like I'm the only person on the internet that is 10 toes down for Returnal. I've been sold the moment I found out it was Housemarque. They are literally the reason I love indie games, Super Stardust HD was my first indie next to Fat Princess. So seeing them strap up their AAA boots is exciting to me and I'll support day 1.

I'm really excited to see these new IPs from Naughty Dog and Santa Monica, I feel like they're going to be insane.

Currently Playing:

Rainbow 6: Siege, Kingdom Hearts 2 (1st time), Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen

@nessisonett @RBMango Flash forward to the release of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 in a couple years and there are pizza delivery missions, but the accompanying music is just more generic orchestra, and not a cheap cover of Funiculì, Funiculà with a steadily-increasing tempo.

And there's your next Puddlegate.

@JohnnyShoulder I only played Resogun and thought it was good. It was essentially an arcade game though.
