@nessisonett The best storyline

It was so good that they had to use it again for Miles Morales recently

Screw that I want a Spider-Man Reign game or a One More Day game

@RogerRoger I've been playing some more Miles and I'm loving it. I still don't really know if I love the Miles actor, but his character has been translated to this game perfectly, love his writing. Also think some of the supporting characters have been done very well.

In general I like Miles' New York better than Peter's. And that has been a huge help so far in enjoying this game.

The fact the game is smaller in scope is very beneficial to the game. Makes everything more like a rush, like a superhero story should be.

Combined with the fact that they made the combat a bit more interesting and I just have t admit that I'm having a really great time.

Unless the story really loses focus, they start padding stuff out or the ending disappoints, I can easily see this game become my favorite of the two.

@Kidfried Thanks for the update; I'm real glad you're enjoying your time with Miles! Although I'm sorry to hear you still haven't connected with his voice actor. That's fair enough, though; I know how performances can be very subjective, and can click for some but not for others. Agreed on the writing and supporting cast. They really do feel like a community and, coupled with the smaller scope as you say, makes New York feel more intimate and immediate. Awesome!

Yeah, I obviously loved the ending but, as we've proven to one another before, that's no guarantee you will as well, so I'll be really interested to see what you make of it. Fingers crossed you have fun!

@Kidfried I enjoyed the more condensed game too but I think my opinion on the original game soured from playing the DLC straight after the main game. It was more of the same which would be great to come back to but I had pretty much had my fill before playing it.

The venom attacks in MM do add a bit more to it but I think there were still quite a few moves I unlocked that I never used. Similarly, I rarely used the gadgets but that seems to be a problem with me rather than games as I rarely use combat items in Ghost of Tsushima either.

The game does have “padding” but the side missions and collectibles aren’t so overbearing to become repetitive. Doing a NG+ run focusing on just the main story (there’s little incentive to do side stuff) makes you realise how brief the main story itself is!

@Milktastrophe Morning. Yes saw that.
Funny thing is Ms could easily have gone with Insomniac deal just coming from Sunset Overdrive. I think Mattrick would have gone for it. What a missed opportunity but all in all a happy ending for PlayStation and probably gamers.

The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.

@Milktastrophe Interesting information.

I think there was a little good luck involved as well, as according to the information, they started the process of negotiating the rights around 2014. At the time, the MCU was doing well, but not yet nearly as big as it would become. There wasn’t any involvement of Spidey in the MCU yet. By 2016 we had Spider-Man show up in Captain American Civil War and then Spider-Man Homecoming in 2017 and the video game in 2018. From concept to release in less than 4 years is pretty impressive, and they were able to take advantage of all the free marketing that the movies have provided.

If Microsoft would have taken the IP, I wonder if they could have turned around and released a game that quickly of the AAA quality that we ended up with. Who knows, but their track record of taking so long for their other games suggests not. Heck, even Sony’s other studios besides Insomniac would have taken much longer.

It’s interesting how such decisions take years to really crystallize.
