Literally today I treated myself to a new PS5 Pro.
Anyone have any good tips for the console, good games to get, useful accessories, etc?
Open to any and all suggestions.
Mostly I play GTAV, Gran Turismo, bit of COD/Battlefield, Minecraft, plus few others.
Just transferred all my PS4 stuff, and have just fitted a DVD Disc drive to the PS5 Pro and am waiting for a new additional SSD drive to be delivered (can never have too muhc storage, right?). Lol....
Impressed with it so far, now questioning if I need to get a new TV!!!

If Astros Playroom still comes free with the PS5 I recommended you start with that, it is a joyful experience start to finish. And as you say you enjoy Gran Turismo you should aim to pick up GT7 as it's great game and has just been added to and added to since release.

Thanx, yes Astros is still free, so will have a look...plus I note that some PS4 games have been upgraded for free to PS5, so will have a look in my PS4 library to see if I have any candidates for a free upgrade, Lol.... who does not luv a freebie? 8-)
Hi, I came from PS4, and my TV is a Samsung 50" (H6400 HD) and is an older model, eg: its not 4k. TBH its a good TV, nice picture, etc, but the PS5 would prolly benefit from a newer model.
Been thinking about a tv upgrade anyway, so this might be the nudge I need.
@pjgtech i'd let it nudge you into a new tv, too. If you are about to embark on enjoying your retirement then a decent gaming tv set-up will be worth it, i'd say 😄 especially if you already have the PS5 Pro ready.
Racing games on a 4k TV and ps5 pro in 60fps or unlocked fps will be a new level of greatness. Maybe some sony first party type games. God of War (2018 and Ragnarok) The Last of Us PS5 remake. Horizon. Even 'Death Stranding' if you want something truly unlike anything you will have probably played before.
And if you are looking for a tv make sure to look for one with 4k resolution, HDMI 2.1 capabilities, VRR (variable refresh rate) and either 120/144/165hz panels so you can make the most of all the Pro's graphics modes and framerate capabilities. I'd personally recommend OLED, but a lot of people also like the QLED options, too.
If you're in the UK you can do worse than calling up or dropping an email to your local Richer Sounds and just giving them an idea of the type of experience you'd want and they can help narrow down what size, what screen type and what features to go for. They can price-beat any other store, and offer 6 year warranties, too. They are pretty genuine and aren't ever focused on just making a big sale, but helping you get what you actually need. In the long run it helps them to have loyal customers rather than try to milk a one off customer 😄 just tell them you have a ps5 pro and are thinking of upgrading tv, the kind of space you have and what the most important things to you in a tv are and they will have enough to help you out, i'm sure. You can get some options for different budgets and weigh everything up properly then.
Thanx for the info, had a look at rtings, not sure I agree with their recommendations, the high end ones are out of my budget and the lower end they recommend Hisense, and I've read lots of negatives about their tv's. I follow a few guys on YT who repair tv's and occasionally recommend good/bad ones.
TCL seem to be the sweet spot for me, at my budget. Not interested in top end tv's as I'm only an occasional gamer and rarely watch normal TV. TBH anything I get will be better than my existing 10 year old TV, so its win/win really.... thanx
@pjgtech TCL has been good lately. I think they are known as the new kings of that price range. If you find out it has everything you need i'd still recommend checking out Richer Sounds for some friendly advice. But theybwill probably say the same if it ticks all those boxes for you.
Hisense were actually good for a while, making tvs far better features than the price range they sold at, saying that, my Hisense did develop an issue eventually, ahah. But then Richer Sounds took it away and reinbursed me and I upgraded the difference to my current set, anyway, so 🤷♂️ It ended up good timing as I wanted to upgrade it, and it saved me having to sell it on. Always buy from somewhere with a good long warranty program is the lesson here, as any set can develop a fault 😄
Well my brand new TCL 65" Mini LED tv is being delivered today (another new toy, Lol!) So will have a play around with that when it gets here.
I'm now looking at maybe a new TV stand, does it ever stop? Lol....
@pjgtech I’m really excited to hear how you like your Pro with your new 4K TV. In my experience it takes some tinkering with settings to get the optimal picture, but it will no doubt look and perform amazingly with the VRR, HDMI 2.1, the HDR and all the crisp 4K glory.
I am running on an LG OLED and I do love it but have a TCL (and an old Samsung! 🫠) and I have my base PS5 hooked to the TCL and it looks great too.
Despite my having the LG hooked up to the Pro for several months, I still am doing slight tweaks with the minute details of contrast, brightness, dark settings, and so forth. Playing Forbidden West had me seeing things in the picture that I hadn’t had to adjust for in my other games (HFW is such a looker and such a wide intense color palette) and the night day cycle uncovered some oversaturation with my previous settings so a few clicks up and down on some things got it looking fabulous.
It would be great for you to target some games that have good Pro enhancements, HFW would be one and you may have the PS4 version already and it’s a free upgrade if I’m not mistaken. But honestly, it’s getting to the point that most new games are Pro enhanced and the new PSSR 2 AI upscaling is making enhancement more the rule rather than the exception, as it relates to playing a PS5 game on the Pro.
You’ll probably notice that strictly PS4 games without a PS5 version or patch may look pretty similar to what you saw on the PS4, but load times and other benefits of ‘boosting’ from your Pro’s better specs will still make the experience much better.

Hi, yes got my new TV now, still playing around with settings, although the "TCL built in "gamer" mode is pretty good TBH. I'm not a massive TV tweaking enthusiast TBH, as long as it looks good to me, that fine, will not be spending too long on fine tuning things. So far I've just played a bit of GTA V PS5 version, I've completed the story mode on Xbox 360, then on PS3, then on PS4, so I'll prolly complete it again on PS5! Also had a look at Gran Turismo and the free PS5 game Astro(sp?), but thats it so far. Am gonna have a nice long session over the weekend and look at the current PS game sales/special offers, I also have Plus premium so will see what they have to offer.
I have all my old PS4 games saved on a USB 2Tb external drive connected to the PS5. I know you can't play PS5 games directly from an external drive, but you can store them there.
So I've also now added a 1Tb SSD drive (Crucial) so I now have 3Tb built in and 5Tb total storage, that should last me a little while, Lol....
Last night I got my new side covers (black) as the default white ones were not doing it for me and did not match the TV, etc.
