@ApostateMage Oh wow, that's unlucky.
No crashes, freezes, progression locks, or really any major issues for me yet. Reloading the game with Aloy in a remote location was the biggest thing I've encountered so far.

@Areus Good tip. I don’t think I’ve got that one but will look out for it.

@ApostateMage That’s really bad luck. I had that happen to me when playing Returnal but I managed to get it booted again and the only thing I’d lost was my save so bad to get a backup from the cloud. Shame about all your pics and vids.

Throb

I'm about 15 hours in, playing in Performance mode, I just left Plainsong and now the game has dropped to about 15 FPS. Thought it could be to do with a lot going on in the screen detail but it's still persisting even in non 'busy' areas. Switched modes, restarted etc but it keeps coming back...

Can't think of anything good to put here just yet, watch this space...

@Voltan Yea flipping hard when keep their mouth shut so much, in end I found that using the skill to boost tear and then attack it when it sucks you towards it worked best for me. Just have to remember to shoot the suction part before you reach it.

@velio84 I reported another one, not the map thing. I might do it later today.
Definitely do report the rest mode crashes. I don't use it myself so I wouldn't know (not going to try it just to test that)

Matroska

This is shaping up to be one of the buggiest games I've played. I've had jump and roll disabled randomly, teleporting to a distant area, various miscellaneous jank, and now falling through the world.

The whole console shut itself down while playing Horizon. Completely went. Had to reboot. Brilliant. Also, Horizon really told FF7 Remake’s NPCs to hold their beer it seems. Either that or the poor woman has had a stroke and an incredibly realistic voice modulator.

Plumbing’s just Lego innit. Water Lego.

@velio84 Friendly, you say
I killed a Thunderjaw last night (for a side quest). Luckily I already had tearblast arrows, which got rid of its disc launchers quickly. It still wasn't exactly easy but I think I'm adjusting to how the combat is meant to be played - remaining mobile is crucial and I guess you're supposed to run around while keeping the camera on the machines rather whatching where you're going

Voltan

KilloWertz

@Voltan It only took you one and a half games to figure that out?

I think you're right on the machines though. I don't think they're actually friendly.

@Voltan @velio84 I wouldn’t say no to some tearblast arrows, I haven’t got that option yet. Taking down a thunderjaw used to take me a minute but that side mission it must have taken me 10 minutes.

I did manage to take down a rockbreaker quickly though by calling in a mount as a distraction and then using the blast ammo on a spike thrower.

@RogerRoger Bet it’s good to be finally onboard the Horizon train 😀

@KilloWertz I feel like it was significantly easier in Zero Dawn but it's been a while. Also I'm definitely nowhere near halfway through this one

KilloWertz

@Voltan It's possible. I haven't faced the big machines like those quite yet as I'm still well behind. I think Aloy might be around Level 12 for me right now.

Ok, fine. One and a quarter games. Technicalities....

@velio84 I honestly don't even remember ropecasters being in Zero Dawn
I do remember tripcasters but I'm not really into setting traps that much (although I guess the special attack that launches both poles at one could be useful against machines that are just charging at you)

Voltan

@velio84 I think it might be worth taking a look through all the skill trees because I found some to contain skills I didn't expect - like one increasing your mobility with heavy weapons (I think it's in the machine master tree)

@velio84 @Voltan I’ve been mixing it up with the weapons and trying a bit of everything but it’s right what you say about the hunter bow and the elemental damage to a certain extent. The elemental damage does work but seems to take a lot longer to apply than in Zero Dawn however I do wonder if I’m misremembering that and it’s just because I had bows setup for each elemental type.

I also used to enjoy using the traps a lot more when I could deploy a load but being as that’s restricted now it’s just not quite as enjoyable. The few that you can put out do minimal damage with most larger machines so you then go through the cycle of having to wait until they aren’t alert to lay some more out to then just to a small amount of damage again.

@RogerRoger It feels way bigger and busier than the first game but it’s probably not. There’s a truck load of things to do and I keep finding new things but because the side quests are more relevant this time I’m finding that I’m remembering what they are when I pick them up again. That’s great for me as my memory is getting worse by the day. There’s also a more diverse selection of quests which helps as you can break things up a bit and if continues to feel fresh. I agree on your last point, it might actually take me forever 😀

Welp, that Tremortusk encounter was kinda terrifying.
Looking forward to meeting more of those.

@Voltan I’ve just taken two out in one encounter. I’m not going to boast though as they were both stuck in a valley and I was up on the mountain side. Just used a load of hunter arrows with tear to remove all the parts and then blew em sky high 😀
