I currently have a little streak of dying to the final boss in consecutive runs - too bad that doesn't count for anything lol.
Still only one successful attempt.
Mine are 40-ish if I get to the end and it's not like I'm trying to take things slow.
However, if you put a time limit on it via the pact thingy, I think the highest one you can set is 9 minutes per stage, so that would make 36 total (not sure if the final boss fight counts as part of the 4th though, as it technically takes place outside).
I still haven't spent much Titan Blood though and I don't even know what Ambrosia is for yet, so I suppose I'll be making them shorter in a while.
Seems like they vary a bit then. I haven't really been keeping an eye on how many rooms you get to go through on each level so I'm not sure if that's massively different for some runs or if it more or less works out the same each run.
I still haven't cleared the game but I've gotten to what I assume is the final boss. It's shorter than I imagined. I didn't beat the final boss but I got him down to a third health and I didn't have any extra lives so I think I'm okay.
One thing I really like about this game is that I find almost all of the weapons useful. It's not like I've picked my style and I'm sticking to it like I do on a lot of games. I use them all and keep mixing it up. The weapon I use least is the gauntlet because I just tend to not like punchy kicky weapons in games, but the others I swap between freely. I think I like the spear best.
Some combinations of boons and stuff seem pretty OP. I like getting a ludicrous build and laying waste to everything. I had one with the gun that turned the special into a cluster bomb and then the clusters did extra DOOM damage a second after impact and with a few upgrades to special power it was wiping out entire rooms with a few taps of triangle. Lots of fun things like that as long as you don't pick silly items.
@johncalmc I got that weapon mod last night, except mine had "chill" on it - and the regular fire had chain lightning, which was also pretty cool

@Voltan Bad luck. At least you got there though. I’m stuck on one part of level 3 that I just don’t seem to get past. I started a run earlier though which might work out as I’ve got some good levelled up boons.
This game is out to get me. Rather than make it easier for me the more I upgrade at the mirror the more the game seems to throw at me. Just done the bone hydra battle and it was on a whole other level. All of a sudden it was spewing out these bomb things that turn into the annoying shielded swordsman if I didn’t destroy them in time. I mean come on, give me a chance 😅
@DertieBertie I started doing that and then found that "stubborn defiance" worked out better for me as it gave me more chances. I've maxed that out though so I get a bit more health than the base one.
On my previous run I made it to the end of level 3 but got killed in the rooms after that with the rats. I then started this new run but I've already used the tooth that skelly gave me on that battle with the bone hydra and I've still got a long way to go. I might just jack this one and start another run where I've actually got a chance.
@Voltan You are making easy work of it. I’m doing it the hard way. Actually got to the end tonight but still lost against the last boss. So close, I was down to the last quarter. If I had another death defiance I’d have been ok but I always lose it on the boss battle before that one.
@Voltan 30 attempts now and have got to the boss twice and lost at exactly the same amount of health left each time. Are you using the same weapon each time? Both those times when I made it I was using the fists. This is turning out to be even more infuriating than Returnal 😆
@render If your finding it too much, there is the easier God Mode you can switch too. There's no punishment for switching, it's really if you want to just experience the story.
@render Nah, I use different weapons each time. Much like Returnal, I’m mostly wingin’ it I got out with the shield and the gun - and got to the boss with every other weapon.
The game rewards switching it up in a number of ways (making it easier is not really one of them though)
@Voltan I’ve been doing the same and just choosing the one that offers a reward. It’s been interesting getting used to the different weapons and just running with them.
My current run I’ve got the shield and have got all the way to the boss but lost my death defiance so I’ll just be relying on stubborn defiance. I’ve got a chance though 🤞
@AdamNovice I know about god mode and until I’ve absolutely exhausted everything I’m going to try and do it the hard way. I’ve got another few items on then mirror I can upgrade and some extra stats I can up on the weapons yet. If after that and another 10 deaths I might have had enough 😂
@render I find the shield great for boss fights actually, as usually you can block most of their attacks and charge at them right after. It might not have the best damage but is very good at avoiding damage. That’s how I got out the first time.
