If gta 6 doesn’t come out…. How am I supposed to eat???
If you’re up for playing Granblue Versus Rising, please ping me. I can also play Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Melty or Under Night. No SF6 or Tekken cuz I lack hardware space.
@Skarasny I sped through GTA V a couple of months ago and it really does have a cracker of a soundtrack. Gotta love Hollywood Nights by Bob Seger! Dirty White Boy by Foreigner is great too.
@Skarasny Space 103 is how I discovered Billy Ocean, Evelyn King too and Sho-nuff. I'd never heard Eddie Murphy singing before then either, I did know some of the others like Rick James. The game itself was 'fine', but I did spend a lot of my time sitting in a car listening to each station with my note-book ready to add them to my playlist. Adult Education was I think my favorite find, I could list so many great songs and bands I found from playing those games. The two things I'm looking forward to the most about this new Grand Theft Auto are the music, and the lighting. I love light and like to see new innovations with how it's used in game, seeing it in Red Dead Redemption 2 was so impressive. I could see it highlight through the subtle skin of an ear for example, I think that's incredible. I tend to not listen to much pop but for old early two-thousands Russian bands that no one here will know, Grand Theft Auto introduced me to: Wham, Fergie, Kelly Rowland, Corona, Lorde, Robbie Williams, I think Kylie Minogue too because I'd only known her perfume and heard her with Nick Cave (I love his music) Taylor Dayne I knew from her track for The Shadow which I shared in my last music post (it's a big one about Various Artists on soundtracks) The Shadow is my favorite Baldwin movie and I love the original radio-play.
I knew who Lady Gaga was but I'm not really allowed to listen to her anymore, knew perhaps three Britney Spears songs, obviously The Petshop Boys (I've heard all of their songs and really like them. This song 'go West', I did. I'm not always sure what they are singing about or for whom, I just know I like them. I did wonder if 'it's a sin' is about being gay. Or it's about religion, I can only go by what People offline tells me is a sin, and being told something a sin and believing it, these are two different things.
But yes Grand Theft Auto introduced me to most non Russian Pop, it's a genre that more of less passed me by. I'm not sure why, other than Classical and Metal were already formally established. This might also be why I like Grand Theft Auto Three so much. I'd like to think that it gave someone an interest in Mozart, Verdi or Puccini. If it introduced me to Pop and American Rap (again I'd only listened to Russian rap, some Albanian and Serbian rap/Drill too) I'd not really gotten into Westcoast or Eastcoast Rap before those games and because this was all recent. I think before Christmas, I arranged every game in the series with their respective console/machine and for those two-weeks perhaps three I experienced every one of those games like a kind of time-capsule. It gave me such an appreciation for how far the technology has come, I wish I could say that about the writing too. I preferred the old writing and characters, they felt more real to me, I'm not sure if Grand Theft Auto Six will, we will see.
One day I need to ask you for some of your favorite songs, of any genre really, not just Metal.
These violent delights have violent ends & in their triumph die, like fire & powder Which, as they kiss, consume.
