Spent 20 minutes on Takezo 😭 I swear this game is too hard at times, haha. I did the first phase in my bounty hunter armour fairly quickly. But second phase it wasn't having any of it, and my parrying went to sh** 😂 eventually swapped armour and kept at it, even with depleted spirit and no quickfire weapons as I went to the duel a bit understocked. Eventually got the c*** on the ropes. But wow, if you miss one parry in second phase you're screwed.

I suppose I could have done it once i've upgraded my weapons a bit more, but I was feeling stubborn and had to beat him then and there, rather than come back to it.

Next session it's off to see the Kitsune part of the map 🙌

Yes I will have to agree with you that Kengo wasn't fleshed out as much as we hoped for. I suppose one could argue this is Atsu's story, but you still need a captivating villain (can't remember how good the Mongol leader was) to interact with. I think there will 100% be story DLC in the future, but know idea what it could entail. I also wasn't happy that she let Kitsune live either, her back story didn't justify her action in my opinion, also is she a vampire or something she literally doesn't age?!? lol. At the start of play through I really did think Atsu was going to die, but doing all the side quests and the later missions I wanted her to live and was satisfied by the end. But please agree with me that there was no hints of Atsu and Oyuki being "lesbians", that's what is being thrown around Twitter and Youtube to rile up the anti-woke group, and I'm just sitting there thinking "that just didn't happen".

135 platinums and counting...

I've just hit the 50 hour mark. And i'm only just entering the snowy area for the Kitsune 🙃

I know some people went for this area ASAP, but wow, I've been so wrapped up in all the other starting regions that it only felt right to move on when i'd at least mostly helped everyone else first.

Again, it has been a while since i've even sniffed a main quest, although the Ainu stuff was a nice way to ask a few questions about Atsu's mission for revenge, whilst ramping back up towards the main story again.

I still like the way the game is laid out, and I still do not understand how anyone reviewed it as a 15 hour game 🤷‍♂️

I feel like I owe a photomode entry at this point too, but this is the last one I did. And it is more a concept for a future idea, if I can be bothered 😁

@Ravix I really like that screenshot!

@Th3solution thank you, good sir.

Have you decided if Yotei will be your next game after BG3? Or will you be going for something spooky? Bare in mind that Yotei will be a nice test for your ps5 pro 😄

@Ravix I’m going to wait on Yotei, as awesome as the game seems to be.

I’ve started a semi-spooky game on the side to coincide with the season, which I’ll comment on elsewhere once I get enough of it under my belt to have something substantial to say.

But I do want to play a game that pushes the Pro as my next main game, once I’ve dusted off BG3 (which I should drop an update on that process over on the corresponding thread as well - suffice it to say that Act 3 is just much more expansive than I was expecting). The leading candidate for that is Horizon Forbidden West right now. Maybe Death Stranding 2. I think I need something really action-y after the long turn-based affair of BG3. Certainly Yotei would fit the bill but I’ve had HFW sitting in the backlog for a really long time and it’s supposedly cream of the crop for Pro enhancement, up there with Yotei, DS2, FF7 Rebirth, et al.

I naively thought I could wait until Christmas.
After reading others' thoughts and seeing some cool screenshots, I am going to buy the game this weekend.

I saw a £15 cashback offer in the UK. If it works out, it will be even sweeter with a discount.

I promise I won't bombard you with millions of pictures, maybe a few here and there.😀

Have a good time until then.

@silverspeed bombard away. The photomode is a stunner, and definitely adds a couple of hours onto the overall playtime 😁

I've been "fashion-souls"-ing again (or whatever the non souls equivalent is 🤷‍♂️) and love this new mask with my stealth fit.

@JohnnyShoulder Yeah, that take pops up a lot. Setting ≠ origin.
Ghost of Yotei being set in Japan doesn’t make it any less of a Sony title; it’s about vision, not location.
The team nailed the atmosphere better than many Japan-made games, honestly.

Looking back at your screenshots again, I just can't believe how good the work is there:) Whenever I see something beautiful in the game, I simply take a screenshot and that's it. Those of my pictures look so simple compared to yours Well done.

The other day, I was checking out of curiosity how long to beat the game:
Completionist is like 58-60 hours?! I assume most of you have already completed the game —how long did it take you?
PlayStation says I played the game for 49 hours, but I still have missions to complete(Main mission on Ishikari Plain and Teshio Ridge as well) and foggy territories to explore on the map. I'd bet I won't be able to collect every collectable because I know I have many things missing from Ghost of Tsushima, too.

Now I wonder if I am just too chill a kind of player, or what?

Anyway, happy gaming.

@silverspeed 🙏🙏 thank you, appreciate the kind words 😄

I'm actually still playing the game, myself. I think i'm around the 60 hour mark. Yesterday I managed to play for a bit and it feels like i'm about to move on to act 2, so I was doing some exploration and base clearing with stealth and combat just to get a good feel for it before moving on with the main quest again. I do think the game will get more linear soon and thus I will be done much faster than the first open areas took me, but it is definitely not a short game, unless you rush main checkpoint to checkpoint or follow guides, I feel, as it is built around getting sidetracked and exploring to see where it takes you.

From what other people say, I wouldn't say you're too chill, there is almost a 50/50 split with how people play games, some will be laser focused and say they have done everything really quickly, others will say the only way to experience most everything is to take your time. I usually take my time and add a percentage on to the average times you see listed.

To me it's probably a 70/80 hour game, give or take time the game is idle. I could see others playing it for 80-100. I genuinely can't believe the 16 hour mark, but I could see fast players taking 20-30 hours.

I see. Good to see you have a good time ahead of you
I don't usually play that much for such a short time, but I managed almost 50 hours of gameplay because I hurt my back and couldn't move at all for days. But my fingers were ready for some actions
This game helped me to actually have a good time and get distracted.

I guess howlongtobeat and other websites are good indicators of linear gameplay, not so good for open-world games. Just checked Ghost of Tsushima, I played 100 hours, and Iki Island was about 50 hours.
Interesting, that I don't find "attractive" the other samurai games.

Well done! I am impressed.
But to be honest, Platinum games is not for me. It kills my happy gaming spirit. I tried to platinum the last two God of War games, but I stopped after the first attempt
I had to repeat one arena match over and over. I gave up after 2 hours of meaningless hit and run. I also needed to kill a valkyr, which was impossible for my skills
But my personal feeling shouldn't take away your great achievements. Well done!

But go back to Yotei:
I enjoy the view of those snowy places; it looks pretty.
What I don't understand is that in my gameplay, the weather is always dark, foggy, rainy and awful. Exceptions when I took these pictures. The only time I look up some videos is when I need to do some puzzles. In those videos, the weather is beautiful, sunny, and charming. I am so jealous! Seriously

@Elfuggingjefe I think our discussion got wrapped up in the site getting bot spammed this morning. The thread got removed and now it has been restored from a previous iteration.

I saw what you said anyway, and, as it is a full new area that unlocks, I will probably put the game on ice, for now, and then I will have plenty to get back to when I get back. I didn't particularly want to push on and end up having too much to do and still being left with the finale to go, as i'd probably be too rusty in combat for the final parts by the time I get back to it. But ending at act 1/2 should be easy to manage and it will make more sense as a stopping point. This way I will have plenty of time to ramp up the intensity with regular exploration, side quests and random encounters before going on to finishing the game proper! Cheers.

I might still play a little bit of side content before then, the game is awesome, after all, but knowing that me finishing it in a few sessions from this point is unlikely means I know not to force myself to try and get it finished.

Glad to see this topic restored. I wholeheartedly loved my time with Ghost of Yōtei and as soon as I saw the credits roll, I immediately wanted to replay it.

The sheer volume of wider discourse comparing it with Ghost of Tsushima (or, more to the point, comparing Atsu with Jin) feels kinda ludicrous. Like it's one of the great questions for the ages which must be definitively solved for the sake of human progress. I'm struggling to recall another sequel being interrogated so intensely. Tsushima still exists, y'know!

With that said... yeah, the first game had a better map, and I liked the feeling that I was learning about Japanese history along the way (no matter how embellished it might have been). Save for those two things, Yōtei was a huge improvement across the board.

Sorry for the selective quotation, but I'm particularly interested in this point. Both times I played Tsushima, I felt the need to take breaks and play something else. I expected to do the same again, yet was able to stick with Yōtei pretty solidly.

Do you usually mix n' match what you're playing at any given time, or is there something specific to Yōtei which is making you wanna stop?
