So I picked up the game. I’ve only played around 3 hours but I’m enjoying it. I was getting a bit frustrated as I had a ton of runes but no way to level up- so I definitely ended up in areas I really should not have been.
I did swap around the controls. Jump for me is triangle, interaction is X & dodge is is circle.

@Fight_Teza_Fight i messed about with the healing controls and that helped me if your remapping things I mapped healing and magic flasks to a pouch shortcut, rather than have to cycle through equipment at the bottom and it's really useful for boss fights.
@johncalmc don't worry, I haven't had to look in the margins for difficulty! After making it through stormveil castle, Godrick wasted me. I can cake walk that first phase but that second one wipes me out! . I went to Castle Mourn to level up some more and will hopefully have another go tonight.
@JohnnyShoulder Yes I did Castle Mourne before Stormveil, and felt it did well to prepare me for the tougher enemies!
I've done Stormveil, beaten Godrick etc, and now focussing on my build and levelling up / exploring a bit. The next stages following the Stormveil castle are proving pretty rough for me, so I figure getting some better gear and upgrading weapons would help me.
Going to spend some time in the smaller dungeons also. I love how the formula allows you to take the game at your own pace, breaking off from Main Story if needed... just so good! Good luck with Stormveil, am sure Bloody Slash will see you through
@kyleforrester87 It’s the ‘Hmm, maybe I should investigate that cave’ which makes me laugh. Horizon is absolutely stuffed with pointless dialogue like that. Especially telling me to check my bloody inventory 😂
I didn’t realise, until now, that some shields do not have the parry ability, and have no ability at all. Which means you can use your sword ability without being two handed. Which is nice.
That site of grace at the Dragonbarrow Fork leading up to one of the minor erdtrees is an amazing place to grind souls. The tengu enemies that pop out of the ground and ambush you award more than 1000 exp each, and there's around 12 of the things on the path, so it doesn't take long at all to level up around where I'm at (level 68ish, I believe).
EDIT: Err, is the giant white dragon supposed to just lie still while you hack it to death? Because it did, and I got 70,000+ souls from it.
Got Frozen Armament spell yesterday - was surprised it didn’t add any damage at all. Anyone know if that’s a bug? Is itr useful realistically in other ways?
@velio84 I ended up there last night, had a few swipes at the golem thing, but as I was only doing chip damage (even with Bloody Slash), I gave up and continued on my journey elsewhere.
Cleared Castle Mourne. Well that was a sad ending. And made a bit of progress in Stormveil and managed to get an npc back to the round table.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
I totally missed the fact the Weeping Peninsula existed. Went back and cleared everything there including getting the brilliant greatsword after beating that rather pathetic boss! Now to decide between going further into Volcano Manor or going inside the capital…
Been playing it for five hours and I absolutely adore it. The game is massive and gorgeous, and the open world is giving me exactly the same feeling that Breath of the Wild did, where I'm running towards something and looking around and I'm like "ooh that looks cool let's see what's ther-OMG WHAT'S THERE!?" and I go on about fifteen different tangents, it's amazing.
Quick question - I've seen online that the first "main dungeon" is Stormveil Castle. I love the difficulty in From Software games, but am a bit concerned about exploring Limgrave too much and overlevelling before going to Stormveil and it being a cakewalk. I'm currently in my low level 20s, should I head to Stormveil soon, or leave it until I'm happy with how much of Limgrave I've explored? For context, I've only really fully explored the central and east area of Limgrave, there's a lot left I haven't seen! I'm just worried about ruining the natural progression of the game for myself
