@LN78 Other than the fact the god is called Two Fingers? Anybody who’s read GRRM knows he’s basically a creep so that one seems like less of a coincidence and more a dirty old man joke. But yeah, his influence was clearly early in development in writing a structure for the story, which From then filled in the gaps. I do feel like the NPCs are a bit more interesting and well-rounded this time round though.
So following you guys advice I’ve been going South. It’s definitely where your meant to be going lol. I don’t know, but with no waypoints my natural inclination is to head north it seems😂.
So I killed my first npc today & I absolutely didn’t mean to. I was at Castle Morne Rampart at night talking to the merchant & next thing I know I’m in a boss fight with the night cavalry.
Now this fight was just a total cluster f. Both on our horses & we’re wildly swinging our weapons about. Then the merchant gets aggrod. I die, revive at the grace right next to him & he’s after me again- so I took him out & the donkey as I figured it might be carrying his loot (it did not).
I eventually beat the boss as I knocked him of the horse, whilst surrounded by some rocks. After I got a back stab & a few hits in he tried to summon the horse again but got locked in place in the horse riding position.

Was close to killing the Fire Giant, and then my game crashed. fml
While I get the sense that the GRRM thing was 95% marketing prowess and nothing more, I will say the NPCs is this game actually seem decent for once. There's a lot of straightforward character writing in addition to the usual cryptic FS nonsense.
With ER set to utterly dwarf their previous releases in sales (if it hasn't already), I'm hoping they build off this foundation for future games.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
Will try and keep this relatively spoiler free - earlier today I made a decision to slaughter a NPC character, who I am praying is not important to game progress!
Post-murder, I returned to the Roundtable for some routine upgrading... only to find the whole area blacked-out, and I was ambushed by a pretty ruthless red phantom!!
Really took me by surprise, and only just managed to win the fight...with a sliver of health left.
Honestly - this has been my favorite moment so far of this astounding game. Having travelled multiple times to the Roundtable, and constantly perceiving this location as my 'safe space', it was an absolute 180-twist to arrive and then be ruthlessly attacked whilst completely unprepared.
FS, I salute you... it is 'rug-pull' moments like this which really make these games shine. Great experience!
@Fight_Teza_Fight You can atone for your sins that will revive any Merchant NPCs that you have killed. I think it is in one of the churches, but I've not reached it myself so can't comment on where it is on how it works.

I think I might take the prize for the most deaths and swears before beating Godrick. For some reason I just couldn’t better my second attempt from last night when I was a sliver away for something like 20 to 30 tries. Finally done now and despatched the Tree Sentinel too.
I’ll be happy as long as I never see another bladed talon eagle ever again.
Anyone else using the Imp Head (wolf) helmet? It’s pretty heavy but it gives you an extra 2 points in endurance which absolutely balances it out.
Hoooo boy, completed Ranni’s quest and that final cutscene is stunning, especially by FromSoft’s standards. I’m sure most people will be more than chuffed with that reward too!
@JohnnyShoulder Man do I have a lot to tell you, but its a very, very long story, But just so you know, I upgraded my stuff and it made a world difference, I will write more about it later, along with yesterdays.
I also wanted to ask, because I kinda figured it out already, but is it worth upgrading to be able to carry heavy items, because I love this sword, but I had to take off some of my armor to do it, is this the right way to do it? Or i'm I going about it the wrong way?
Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

I'm level 42 about 21 hours in. All I have done is explore. I did beat stormviel and a few other minor bosses, but have not done any quest lines, nor found many to be honest. I feel like I'm missing out. I did talk to one npc that seems evil and had a giant pet dog who wanted me to fetch something for him. Of course I forgot what it was. I don't like to look up much at all as the exploring blind is so much fun. Anyone else in this boat or are you finding npcs and finishing quest lines?
Got the DMGS last night, and even though moonveil isn’t better I’m gonna have to use it, after so many games where I got it but couldn’t use. It does hit hard, hopefully the poise break balances the speed.
Edit: already have high int, so it hit goombas at gatefront for 1150ish with a charged r2, and at range same damage. That’s at +9
@Snatcher That is an option as I know some people wear little or no armour so they can wield a heavy weapon. There is not really a right or wrong way to play these games, if you enjoy doing that and it makes things a bit easier for you then I would carry on.
@Elodin I'm using the fextra game progress route on and off. It just lists the best order to things and what to do, then goes into a bit more detail if you want.

@velio84 That sounds like one hell of a journey you’ve been on there. Well done on getting out. Judging by my success so far I reckon I’d have still been there next week 😆
@Snatcher I played Demon’s Souls without armour until I upgraded to a point when I had enough strength to carry a good set and the weapon I wanted. I found it didn’t make too much difference as stuff hits pretty hard anyway and the lighter armour sets didn’t help massively protect against that.
@lolwhatno@velio84 yeah I have played most From games, this one however being open world makes me wonder if I'm breaking to many questlines by just randomly searching around the world and killing indiscriminately without having talked to enough NPCs.
@JohnnyShoulder I have peaked at a few things on fextralife, I just don't want to ruin the surprise of exploration aspect too much.
Based on your replies ill just keep going my random ways and I'm sure ill hit a few questlines soon.
