Hello, I wanted to ask about that guy at the start of the game. I attacked him and well, wile I never killed him he just left at some point, anyway to get him back?

Had quite the session today, made a heap of progress and felt like I explored incredibly hidden areas!
I explored Nokron and progressed Ranni’s quest. I also found a hidden jump I could make in Nokron which led to Siufra Aqueduct and those bloody gargoyles. After I beat them, a coffin led to Deeproot Depths which gave me insane loot including high levelled somber smithing stones and spirit upgrade materials. I beat a couple of bosses there, met back up with Hug Lady and unlocked a boss fight against a massive dragon which is basically impossible right now!
I then went back to the Divine Tower of Caelid which I forgot to do to unlock Radahn’s rune. I ended up finding a path down lots of platforms all the way down to the basement which had a fairly easy boss fight despite giving me 94000 runes for beating it. I also got a big sword with the yellow highlight meaning it’s legendary I think.
I then went back to the capital, beating Morgott first time mostly thanks to the incredibly good Mimic Tear summon. Seriously, that thing’s brilliant. I used the medallion to go on the big lift, killing the giant gargoyle boss on the way and now I’m in the snowy area.
Since I now have a +9 Bloodhound Fang and +7 Mimic Tear, I went back to kill the Full-Grown Fallingstar Beast, which was fairly difficult rather than impossible and I beat it. Got crap rewards though!
So yeah, got a bit of Ranni’s quest left plus I can finally access the last Volcano Manor contract now. I technically completed the Volcano Manor area but I’m waiting to beat the boss there since apparently that auto fails the quests.
So I finished my play season today, and boy do I have some thing to talk about, nope, I haven't beat the boss yet, But I did kill a few others. Pretty sure i'm having a hard time because I never upgraded my weapons....LOL, I will write it down later, because right now im just not feeling it.

Got Castle Morne and a few caves done this morning, including a crystal cave with a nasty bleed knight as it’s boss. Castle Morne was a little disappointing, I guess it’s like a halfway house between the small dungeons (caves etc) and large dungeons (Stormveil, Raya Lucaria etc). Still, definitely worth doing as got a nice UGS out of it (won’t be able to use it for a while though).
@LN78 yeah, there was that npc at Roundtable Hold when you first arrive there that asks you to search for some tomboy (haven’t found her yet but he’s disappeared anyway). He seemed very Jon Snow/Robb Stark to me… almost to the point of parody. Apart from him though I totally agree.
@LN78 Other than the fact the god is called Two Fingers? Anybody who’s read GRRM knows he’s basically a creep so that one seems like less of a coincidence and more a dirty old man joke. But yeah, his influence was clearly early in development in writing a structure for the story, which From then filled in the gaps. I do feel like the NPCs are a bit more interesting and well-rounded this time round though.
So following you guys advice I’ve been going South. It’s definitely where your meant to be going lol. I don’t know, but with no waypoints my natural inclination is to head north it seems😂.
So I killed my first npc today & I absolutely didn’t mean to. I was at Castle Morne Rampart at night talking to the merchant & next thing I know I’m in a boss fight with the night cavalry.
Now this fight was just a total cluster f. Both on our horses & we’re wildly swinging our weapons about. Then the merchant gets aggrod. I die, revive at the grace right next to him & he’s after me again- so I took him out & the donkey as I figured it might be carrying his loot (it did not).
I eventually beat the boss as I knocked him of the horse, whilst surrounded by some rocks. After I got a back stab & a few hits in he tried to summon the horse again but got locked in place in the horse riding position.

Was close to killing the Fire Giant, and then my game crashed. fml
While I get the sense that the GRRM thing was 95% marketing prowess and nothing more, I will say the NPCs is this game actually seem decent for once. There's a lot of straightforward character writing in addition to the usual cryptic FS nonsense.
With ER set to utterly dwarf their previous releases in sales (if it hasn't already), I'm hoping they build off this foundation for future games.

Will try and keep this relatively spoiler free - earlier today I made a decision to slaughter a NPC character, who I am praying is not important to game progress!
Post-murder, I returned to the Roundtable for some routine upgrading... only to find the whole area blacked-out, and I was ambushed by a pretty ruthless red phantom!!
Really took me by surprise, and only just managed to win the fight...with a sliver of health left.
Honestly - this has been my favorite moment so far of this astounding game. Having travelled multiple times to the Roundtable, and constantly perceiving this location as my 'safe space', it was an absolute 180-twist to arrive and then be ruthlessly attacked whilst completely unprepared.
FS, I salute you... it is 'rug-pull' moments like this which really make these games shine. Great experience!
