I don't think this being free on Plus is really disgusting. The whole Control Ultimate Edition thing kinda is bad on their part, but I don't think them adding this to Plus makes it worse. Obviously the Ultimate Edition is something people value, and would like to add to their collection. Which is why some people already did.
If there weren't people who owned and bought the game already, then it would mean it's a game nobody wanted anyway. So this disappointment of a few people over owning something already is inherent to the Plus service, otherwise it wouldn't please anyone.
And yes, this sucks for people if they bought Control, then the Ultimate Edition, but were a Plus subscriber so now get them for free. But that's what Plus is. The first half of 2020 Plus didn't have any games I was interested in, sucks for me, but that's the deal.
@Kidfried Yeah, but it is terrible communication from all parties involved. They told customers to preorder the UE for the PS5 patch, people did, and a month later it was announced it was coming to Plus, when the game hadn't even released yet.
With Destruction All-Stars Sony clearly communicated in advance that the game would be free with Plus in February, so people wouldn't pre-order and be disappointed. Because the only people being screwed over are the biggest fans, those willing to pre-order your games. The same people that already got Control day one and were being told that they wouldn't be getting the PS5 patch because of some weird reason that is still unknown to me. Even though they already gave everyone who owned the game and all access to the UE accidentally.
The PS plus announcement was just the drop that made the bucket spill I think.
