@PeaceSalad like I always say mate, I ain’t particularly skilled but I’ll keep banging my head against a brick wall until I’ve somehow bust my way though 😅
Made a start on Darksiders this morning, only got about 2 hours in but it’s decent. Initially I thought it was overly basic and a little bit slow… but within about 45 minutes I was enjoying myself. Definitely more character action than Zelda for the moment at least… but I can kinda see the comparison even this early on.
Very 90’s artstyle in terms of chunky masculinity but it’s not a bad thing… I actually quite like it. I quite like the lore and narrative too, which while it was never gonna win any awards is still pretty cool (at least to someone who was in their teens during the 90’s 😅). Looking forward to playing some more.
@Jimmer-jammer yeah even though I’m not from your neck-of-the-woods cheese ball vibe suits it pretty well to be fair.
Just popped back on to have a crack at the Aerial Predator trophy, which is both highly missable and supposedly the most annoying trophy in the list. I’d finished up my first session just as I’d mounted my flying steed this morning and had been doing a bit of research/prep here and there when the missus was preparing supper etc. Got it first time and hung the controller up for the night pretty happy.
Really enjoying my time with Darksiders… must be about halfway through now and the game just gets more fun, the more abilities you unlock.
It’s a classic example of something being greater than the sum if it’s parts, as if you were to critique each individual aspect of the game, I don’t think many would figure above serviceable (though no worse neither) but when it’s all put together, it works.
@graymamba Yeah I can remember (just about) when I played it, it did nothing spectacular and borrowed a lot of elements from other games. But I still really enjoyed it.
The only other game in the series I played was Genesis, but was not overly keen on it.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@graymamba
I didn’t really get on with D1 but I did like D2 and even more D3 which I think was fairly universally panned.
I haven’t played Genesis (the game not the band).
@Jimmer-jammer I was thinking that the change-up/trend-chase might well have been where a lot of the hate came from for 3… and I know you’re a particular fan of souls-likes so your two-penneth on the matter is appreciated.
I’m having a blast with 1 fair play. It’s continued to surprise and impress throughout my playthrough. I’ve just made it to the Black Throne so I’ve seen most of what the game has to offer by this point… and it’s been a pleasure. A proper unsung classic imho.
Ive been pretty much playing WWE 2K25 Bloodline Edition since really late last night. Played late last nght til 7 this morning. then took a nap. then woke up and went back to playing around in WWE 2K25. Still have some CAWs to make and replay the Yokozuna match in Showcase. I havent gone into MyRise yet or even Universe mode yet but Ill get into those two eventually sometime this weekend or later this month since im busy with other stuff going on gaming wise
Still enjoying the hell out of the original Darksiders. I finally made it out of an unbelievably long section full of some pretty testing Portal-style puzzling called The Black Throne this morning… feels like I was there an eternity. Just made it to Eden so I’m guessing that I’m getting pretty close to the end now.
@CaptD made a start on Generation Zero this evening and think that it’s pretty decent so far. I know that you liked it back last year, so I thought I’d tag you with my initial thoughts. It’s obviously very AA, so I can kinda see why a lot of people were put off… but I quite like the desolate serenity of it all. Not quite as Far Cry as I’d like but cool in its own survival gameplay way. Looking forward to playing some more.
