@TraCuz- I never played RDR so I am going into this game completely fresh, unbiased with regard to the protagonist being Arthur, anyway in terms of FF7R, I am greatly looking forward to it despite being, as you say, primarily a Souls player in my past, defeating Ludwig the Accursed in the Old Hunters DLC was my last great Souls triumph. What are you playing these days yourself?

@TheBrandedSwordsman Wow man, I think this game is gonna end up one of your favorites of all time. If you haven't already I think you should go back and watch a summary video of the 1st game. That ending is so... memorable. After you watch that video keep an eye on John Marston and his family. In case you didn't know RDR2 (1899) is set before RDR (1910).
@TraCuz- Yeah I knew it was a prequel, I'll try and watch a summary video, thanks for the info!

@TraCuz- Definitely agree that the ending of the original RDR was one of the most impactful game conclusions of any game I’ve ever played. Right up there with The Last of Us, BioShock Infinite, Metal Gear Solid 4, …. among others. Actually RDR2 was also one of the greatest endings. Just fantastic. And by “ending” I mean Arthur’s ending. I honestly felt that the epilogue where you play as Marston ruined the epic feel of the ending a little bit. It was a much appreciated addition to give closure and link the first game to the second game, but it kind of dragged on and on and took the luster off the otherwise legendary tale of Arthur. It felt like DLC, and I am glad that Rockstar didn’t carve it out and resell it as DLC, but would have liked it better if they streamlined it to just a couple hours of getting John, Jack, and Abigail set up in their home.
As for FF7 — I have played the original game and really liked it. It’s been some years now, so I’m not sure what it would be like to play it again now, but I’m familiar with the overall world, characters, and story beats to the game. I fully expect to like the remake. Did you play the Yuffie DLC? If so, how is it? Mostly I’ve heard positive things but then occasional someone says they don’t like it.
@Thrillho@JohnnyShoulder I’ve pushed on a bit with The Division 2, my mate though (who is far more multiplayer oriented than I) seems to have given up on it. It plays well enough but is just incredibly repetitive. Hopefully he’ll give it another shot though as it was definitely a bit more fun in co-op.
@colonelkilgore I played through the first one with mate but totally solo with the 2nd. The end game stuff felt a lot better handled in the 2nd than in the 1st. I gave up almost immediately when I reached the end of the first game but continued playing with the 2nd. Like I said, I didn’t think it felt repetitive until towards the latter part of the story campaign. But then some of the best missions were near the end.
It could be a 'problem' with that type of game as with both Destiny games I dropped off quickly after I finished the main story. Yet you hear of some people sinking hundreds of hours into the games, but I think it is more of a social thing and I played them on my own.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@JohnnyShoulder yeah, the only looter-shooter I’ve played prior to this was Remnant from the Ashes, which my mate and I loved. I’m gonna keep playing it as in fairness the gun-play is pretty good… and I’m starting to play around with the builds etc.
@colonelkilgore Yeah the rpg systems you can get pretty deep with, especially with the different loadouts you can get. Certain events happen in the game which help to spice things up a bit.
I remember playing the first one with a mate, and there was always a period of silence while we checked all our gear after beating a mission. Only broken by something like 'Oooooh, I've got a nice pair of gloves I needed'. 😂
I would offer to jump in with you, but I'm not sure how levelling works in the game and I'm a quite a high level.
@JohnnyShoulder cheers dude but it’s all good, I’m gonna keep pestering my buddy until he gives in… he’s never minded using that tactic on me so it’s about time I repaid the favour.
Love the story about the silence between you and your mate while checking through your loot… so true 🤣.
@colonelkilgore Have you not ever played any of the Borderlands games? Not sure if “looter-shooter” fits for what it is but in my mind that descriptor seems to fit and I thought I recall the term was coined to describe Borderlands. BL1 & 2 were really enjoyable for me, especially 2. I played them in co-op a little with a friend but mostly by myself.
As far as The Division, I liked what I played of the first game, but it wasn’t enough to hold my attention, for some reason. I think maybe I just don’t do well with military style shooters; I’m not sure why.

@Th3solution yeah I played Borderlands and started Borderlands 2 on PS3 (started the sequel straight after the original and got burned out, so moved on to something else). I quite liked them and have rebought them again (as well as the third) on PS4 as it goes so I may well give them another go. Always prefer third-person viewpoint though if I’m honest. I’ll plough on with The Division 2 though… I seem to be syncing with the loop and it’s alright. Think I was just expecting to enjoy it as much as Remnant, which at least right now isn’t the case.
@Th3solutionI very much so agree about the epilogue it was a shame since I welcomed the fan-service at first but pretty quickly lost that excitement. Especially when there wasn't much to do once you finished everything
The Remake is absolutely amazing(to me), revitalized my love for the series and easily one of most anticipated in the coming years. You're going to love it, especially the first time you control Tifa. Personally I enjoyed the Yuffie DLC, I liked how they expanded her character since she was honestly pretty inconsequential in the first game. The story is ok but nothing to go crazy about, but the gameplay... The gameplay.. Yuffie is soo fun to control and as a ninja main in FFXIV it was very touching to see her have similar attacks and visual fx. Synergizing attacks with Sonon is amazing and I can't wait to see how they evolve it.
@Jimmer-jammer I am taking a break from it at the moment and just watching the cricket, I played some GoT myself, got about halfway/three-quarters through the first act of the game before giving up, came across a really tough rescue mission and kept getting killed. Glad you appear to be enjoying your time with the game though.

@colonelkilgore To an extent, I think Borderlands is a victim of its own success. Borderlands 2 was such a huge game and really well done with a “gazillion” different guns and loads of content, especially with the DLC, that it made the sequels somewhat redundant I think. Speaking from personal opinion, I also got my fill by the time I made it to the end of BL2 so haven’t gone back to the series. I tried returning to play the DLC a couple years ago leading up to BL3’s release and was planning to play the Pre-sequel and BL3 but even the just the BL2 DLC was enough to satisfy my appetite for the genre. I still have the Handsome Collection via PS+ so maybe I’ll go back to the rest of the BL2 DLC and to the Pre-sequel one day. And BL3 has been in steep discounts really often (I think I’ve seen it for as low as $5 physical), so perhaps I’ll try it one day.
But yeah, it’s one of the few FPS that I have played a lot of, having a third person preference also.
@TraCuz- I’ll definitely drop impressions when I get around to it. Your praise has me excited to see it in action. I did play the demo way back prior to release and I liked it fairly well, but I’m not sure it gave me the full effect of what the game offers.

@Jimmer-jammer@TraCuz-@Th3solution Played through some more of RDR2, Paying a Social Call, this morning, it was another shootout with the O'Driscolls, got a double-barreled shotgun (a pretty tidy looking piece of kit, as guns go) and $600 from the fireplace, of which my cut is $110, all this tithe stuff breaks the bank a bit, but still, gotta contribute to the gang's funds! N.B Also, the O'Driscoll we kidnapped earlier is now a member of our gang! I'll be sure to keep my eye on him!

I'm currently playing Saints Row The Third. I started it once years ago and gave up after like three hours so I'm back by popular demand of my girlfriend who wants me to play it. Anyway, I was sour playing it, but then I turned the volume down so I couldn't hear the characters any more and now I like it loads more. Just bombing around the city blowing things up. It's a bit like when you can't be bothered to play the story missions on Grand Theft Auto and you just go on a rampage around the city for a laugh.
