@Jimmer-jammer @Th3solution I am still playing through RDR2 I just completed Polite Society, Valentine Style and Americans at Rest, where you have to save or kill the guy hanging from the cliff (I saved him) and then survive a barroom brawl in the latter mission a bit violent with all the punching for my tastes as I prefer the less direct gunplay in the game, but yeah, still a great game and experience and I like the fact that whatever mission you choose to do next is largely left up to you. How are your games going?

@Jimmer-jammer @Th3solution I also did some food and cigarette shopping with Uncle, as part of the 'Polite Society' mission, made the mandatory coffee purchase as well of course, it was all good though, as Uncle was buying!

@colonelkilgore I thought they’d really nailed the mechanics with The Division 2 but the overarching story was so threadbare. I quite liked the story in the first game but I genuinely don’t remember anything about it in the second.

I did prefer the setting though as the first game got a bit monotonous.

@Thrillho well, I haven’t felt compelled to return to The Division 2 at all today… and it’s very unlike me to feel this ambivalent about a new game (well a new game to me). Will see how I feel tomorrow but it’s not drawing me back right now.

@colonelkilgore Did you ever play the first game?

@JohnnyShoulder no, I picked up the both of them but my mate really wanted to play the sequel… in fairness, I have heard 2 is better. It just felt a bit samey by the end of my session yesterday but maybe because I’m so early game atm. Does it pick up?

@colonelkilgore I would say you are missing on a lot of the story setup by not playing the first game, and I found some of the game mechanics explained a bit better. I probably preferred the first game...just.

That was main complaint about the second game, that it got a bit samey, but I only felt that towards the end of the game. I did try and vary it up a bit and not just concentrate on the story missions.

@JohnnyShoulder we were doing the same to be fair, we were clearing whole areas of things to do before moving on… think we only actually got 2 main missions done as a result. Maybe once we get a little deeper in and see how things develop it’ll grab me a bit more.

Quite surprised by how much you liked the original… I hadn’t paid a massive amount of attention to it at the time but I kinda got the impression that it was a bit of a disappointment.

@colonelkilgore Like the 2nd game I didn't play the first game till about a year after it came out. By then most of the issues had been sorted out and was most likely a different experience from when it launched.

@JohnnyShoulder ahh, so the negativity was due to issues at launch... makes sense. Maybe we should've started with 1 then in that case.

What do have lined up after JC3?

Nice dude, love to hear people enjoy it as it did get some unwarranted heat imho.

So I’ve started The Division 2 with a mate but it hasn’t gripped me yet. I’m also ‘chipping’ away at Everybody’s Golf which has gripped me more than it should tbh 😅.

@TheBrandedSwordsman I really like some of the character interaction at camp. Uncle is a great character. A little annoying at times, but he’s pretty fun.

As for me, I’m one collectible away from the true ending in Returnal. I feel like I almost had it last night, but it was so late and I had to really go to bed so I finally had to give up on my run. Not sure if I’ll have time to play later today, but I’m just one or two play sessions away from finishing that hame. Same for A Plague Tale. It’s taken a really long time to finish because of playing it alongside Returnal, but I think I’m close to the end there too; maybe one or two play sessions left as well. Then I’ll be ready to start something new, probably by the end of the week. I might start FF7R, but if you want I can wait until you finish RDR2 and play alongside with you if you still plan to play it soon? I’m flexible. I have a ton of backlog to choose from other games instead, so it’s no rush. I know from where you are now with Arthur and co. that you’ve got a long way to the end yet. But if you can make it to the end, it’s fantastic — One of my favorite game stories ever.
How are you liking the music in RDR2?

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN

@Th3solution I won't be done with RDR2 for a long time, as you say, so feel free to go ahead with FF7R if you want to, that way you'll be able to guide me through it when I come to play it later. Good luck with finishing Returnal and the Plague Tale game, over the course of the next two or three play sessions.

With regard to the music in the game, I must confess I haven't really noticed much of it.

@Th3solution @TheBrandedSwordsman Sup guys haven't been too active on here recently, so it's been a while. Good to hear you both are playing some of favorite games. Red Dead as a franchise is in my top 10 of all time and as you could probably tell from my picture I'm an FF fanboy.

On the topic of Red Dead Arthur, Sadie Adler, and Charles are some of my favorite characters in all of gaming. RDR2 takes it's time building up but by the end of chapter 3 that slow climb up the story rollercoaster really has a dynamic shift, chef kiss. I was also a big fan of all the random encounters and to see a morality system in a game that really change the character you play as.

As for FF7R would it be a first playthrough for you both? First introduction into FF7 entirely?

@TraCuz- Tra! How’s things bud… you still finalling that 14th fantasy?

Temet Nosce

BlAcK_Sw0rDsMaN

@TraCuz- I'm loving playing as Arthur, and the morality system certainly is intriguing, to say the least. Yes, it would be my first foray into the FF world, dunno about sol.

@colonelkilgore Yessir I am still fantasizing the final 14th, I am neck deep in that game and don't myself coming out anytime soon. It's to the point where I don't even care about new releases. Only thing to get me off would be God of War, FF16, or FF7R part 2.

I have to say though I doubted all of the hype but Shadowbringers is easily one the best gaming stories/experiences I've played. It is unbelievably good.

@TheBrandedSwordsman Dude I remember when they revealed Arthur as protagonist, I was disappointed it wasn't John. But by the end I wholeheartedly loved Arthur more, that is so challenging to accomplish but Rockstar pulled it off.

I gotta say with the way you love Soulsbourne games I think FF7 is gonna be a nice change of pace for you (it is by no means a soulslike) I bring up the comparison because of the incredible boss fights and just the immense amount of options you can approach fights. Me and you could defeat the same boss but use different methods/builds to execute strategies. Not to mention the graphics/animations are amazing, story is great, and has probably my favorite action combat in any game.
