Just a heads up if you do purchase The Sexy Brutale. The game has 2 sets of collectibles; 9 Guest Invitations and 52 Playing Cards. You can easily keep track of the Guest Invitations as there are only 9 of them. However the game, quite strangely, does not keep track of the Playing Cards that you have found.
I would suggest keeping a written list, and adding each Playing Card that you have found to list as you collect them. I had to watch a few videos on YouTube to find about 5 cards that I didn't collect through my initial run. Fortunately, once you complete the game, you can free roam throughout the entire locale, so there aren't any missable collectibles.
As for Enter the Gungeon, I managed to beat the Tank boss on Level 3, and I made to the boss for Level 4, the Kill Pillars. I got my backside handed to me, and my run with The Marine came to an end. I'm still enjoying it though.
@Thrillho I went Gunzerker… i liked the name and it seemed like it would be a fun one to play. Having said that though, I have taken to sniping a few head shots before I go in guns blazing as the sniper-rifles are just so powerful. Then I whip the shotty out when I’m in amongst it. Hopefully I’ll unlock a third weapon slot soon as I really need an assault rifle on hand for the ‘tweener’ range.
I started playing Doom (2016) over a week ago. I think it's the first time I have played a Doom game since Doom II in 2000. I'm not massive fan of FPS games, but so far it's not so bad. The aesthetics are a bit washed out in terms of colour, but then again, I've only seen the first level.
Why do you say that Doom: Eternal is one of the best games you've played?
@colonelkilgore Nice, that’s what I went with when I played on PS3. Running in with dual rocket launchers against a boss can be pretty handy! It can also help to have weapons with different abilities, ie one for taking down shields and another to do damage, rather than constantly switching.
Started Guacamelee today and can only echo what a lot of peeps (@Voltan, @Thrillho as well as others) have said previously, it’s very, very good. I started it on Hard to avoid two playthroughs… and it’s definitely a challenge… but the varied combat can just be so intuitive when in the flow.
Just past the rising lava inside the volcano… which was particularly tough… and then beat the next combat room or so. I think I understand the appeal of Metroidvania’s now, so I’m definitely gonna play a few more of them in 2022.
@colonelkilgore The game is very good at showing on the map where you’ve hit an area you can’t progress without a certain ability by colouring it on your map.
It makes it easy to find those areas later and the colour correlate to different abilities so you don’t end up going back unnecessarily. It’s a bugbear of mine when games don’t signpost those areas for later.
@colonelkilgore Sorry, I don’t remember that much. Last time I played it was right after the sequel came out (I got the plat for the sequel and then went back and got it for the original, which I originally played on PS3).
@Thrillho yeah I was more thinking about around about how many hours I have left-ish really... no worries though. I got a feeling I’m maybe around halfway... maybe a bit past that even.
@Voltan no worries... well done on plat’n both though!
Started Bastion yesterday. I’ve been looking forward to playing through the Super Giant games a lot… and while it didn’t impress me quite as much as I was hoping, it is good… and was only getting better the more I played of it. I only had a couple of hours free yesterday but should be able to invest a decent chunk of time this week.
@colonelkilgore
Same. I put it on last week, played an hour or two and it's not get clicked for me either. Will definitely get back to it over the coming days/weeks So may be interesting to compare notes?
