@colonelkilgore Yeah I have that game on Switch but haven't played it yet. It's made by the Danganronpa developer so it should be pretty good. If you want more visual novels from that developer then the Zero Escape trilogy (999, Virtue's Last Reward, Zero Time Dilemma) is also pretty good from what I've heard.

@colonelkilgore
Fine by me. I don't really mind the format but maybe people would be put off if they didn't get six done. I'm just interested in the communities impressions and perceptions, and maybe also noting down the ones people class as easiest (would be surprised if we don't both include Donut County in that one - ahem - possible spoiler)

@colonelkilgore Yeah, the Danganronpa games are probably a good place to start. Thing about 13 Sentinels is that it’s not a pure visual novel, and in fact is quite unique so as to be hard to classify. But from the time I’ve spent with it I’d say it’s a lite VN with the added tactical combat stuff. Danganronpa likewise has some gameplay to keep you engaged whilst you do a lot of reading character conversations and story elements in between the gameplay parts, so it might be the best series that will keep you engaged, …hopefully. I got the first platinum, but it was a fair amount of end game grinding, but the 2nd and 3rd games have even more end game grinding for the platinum and so it was prohibitive for me. Fair warning on that.
But yeah, if you get along with Danganronpa then I’d say the Zero Escape games would be a safe bet.
Another that’s kinda similar genre-wise is Oxenfree. It has that 2D indie feel to it and is primarily narrative driven with some basic input required and choices for dialogue. It’s much shorter but does require 2 or 3 playthroughs for the platinum, but still pretty easy plat. Good game though, for a primarily story driven experience.

@Sorteddan yeah that's a good point, well no pressure... we can just post our own personal highs (& lows) of trophy hunting during 2021 in any format we see fit 👍

@Th3solution okay cheers bud... quite a lot of info to be getting on with there. I'll probably try and cycle in one per year if I can.

@RogerRoger cheers mate, how are those couple of plats coming along that you mentioned the other day? (what you playing btw?)

@RogerRoger just started Spider-man: Miles Morales what with the humbug festivities and all that, so it’s gonna be that I guess. Enjoy your humbug buddy 👊

@Keith_Zissou I've seen quite a few if these on sale throughout the year actually so I might stick some on my wishlist and wait for another reduction 👍

@RogerRoger mate 😌… after those 10 & 1/2 playthroughs of MGS4, two playthroughs sounds like frikkin’ bliss 🤣

Platinum #99 - Knights and Bikes (PS4)
Simple enough indie adventure themed around childhood imaginary adventures. My favourite thing about it was the art style - reminiscent of old paper cut out animation techniques.

And on to the next one...

@Sorteddan well done mate, good luck with DC Super Villains for the century!

Thrillho

@Sorteddan I really liked the game! Did you play it solo? It must have been great fun co-op.

Best trophy is definitely the one for spelling BUM using the crane

@Thrillho
Agreed that was also my favorite. I played it mostly solo as well. I haven't decided whether Nessa was actually an imaginary friend or an actual character. And I like that the game has still got me pondering such things

Wrapped up the platinum for It Takes Two last night. The game was really fun in the most part and a lot of the trophies are ones you just unlock through doing random things which I always quite like. We only had a few that we hadn’t got so we must have spent a lot of time just messing about rather than progressing the story but it was easy just to mop up the last few with chapter select.

@render congrats buddy, the missus and I have been playing this too… and agreed, it’s great. So good in fact that I think we’ll play through the PS4 version too at some point.

@colonelkilgore Good thinking on playing the PS4 version too. Think I’ll borrow your suggestion and do that sometime too 😉

Just this morning wrapped up the Platinum on Demon’s Souls…. Wow, what a journey!

I actually approached this game from Day 1 with a ‘Platinum Mentality’, as I didn’t really fancy 3-4 potential runs (when my existing game backlog is as large as it currently is).

I must say though this game is surely impossible to platinum without resorting to a guide? The world and character tendancy mechanics are beyond convoluted, with no real explanation as to how they work ha

I went with a DEX build (first time in a Souls Game) and really enjoyed the samurai sword & longbow combination.

Planning to go into Elden Ring blind, might also try to squeeze in DS3 before release…

Next game up is REVillage, although I hear the platinum is absolutely horrendous- has anyone here platted it? If it appears too daunting, I might just do a single playthrough for fun

@CJD87 Hey well done, you totally beat me to it. I’ve still got to go back and finish this off as I’m about 1/3rd the way through a NG+. Which bits did you find the most challenging trophy wise?

If you want another challenge after this you should definitely try Kena which can be ridiculously hard even compared to DeS.

render

CJD87

@render Thanks man!

Let me know if you want/need any co-op support through NG+… I’d welcome an excuse to return to Boletaria!

Honestly, I didn’t find this as challenging as Returnal… but it was actually the early NG+ Of DeS that nearly broke me! I needed to do about 70% of a Ng+ Cycle to clean up the purchasing of final spells, and couldn’t believe the scaling in difficulty vs standard NG

Started NG+ around SL 75… and found that incidental enemies (like the mobs in 1-1!) were actually 1-shotting me. I spent an afternoon grinding to get my SL a bit higher, which then allowed me to progress - but you really need to play a cautious game. How are you finding NG+

Ha ok I actually kicked off Kena straight after Returnal… and shelved it so I could play DeS instead. I did a couple of bosses in Kena, and would argue strongly that they were much tougher than any of the bosses in DeS!!

@CJD87 congrats mate, one of my favourite games ever and it sounds like you had a good time with it too (apart from the start of your ng+ run that is).

I haven’t played RE Village but my mate plat’d it earlier this year and said that it wasn’t too bad. I think there is a hardest difficulty playthrough required… but I’m sure he mentioned something about having access to maxed out weapons by the point that he got to that playthrough and it made it more than manageable.

CJD87

@colonelkilgore Thanks mate and yes I loved every second of it… I can imagine it is very replay-able also, messing around with different builds etc. But yes the start of NG+ was a very unpleasant welcome call!!

Much respect to you also for your MGS 2 conquest/ordeal! I think I saw a few posts remarking about your tremendous effort for the platinum… a true hero among men ha!

I’m actually leaning towards a blind ‘fun’ play of Village and might completely avoid the platinum. I think sometimes that going into a game with a platinum mindset can take away a little bit of the ‘magic’….. although saying that I might change my mind and pursue it if I’m still hungry for more game once I complete the initial playthrough.

Excited for Elden Ring?
