This is a semi update in my game preservation topics from the Sony perspective. I will focus on the PS4 since it is more widely available. I will also focus on digital games because come on they are cheaper in discounts, and you want to have all retro games readily available at any time, not changing disks. I will cover the major publishers and game series. I will focus on series that I think are popular for Retro + Sony fans. Feel free to add anything. Please note that I have no real nostalgia or care for first party Nintendo (every generation except Gameboy) and Xbox (I only have a Series S and mostly play retro games and game pass indies).

SEGA first party games:
Very good selection on first party games if you are a Mega Drive fan and some more minor Master System games. (MD Collection, Sonic Origins, Wonder Boy games, Alex Kidd and more). Also, some more modern stuff like Virtua Fighter 5 and Shenmue. A LOT OF WORK is still needed. Master System, Game Gear and arcade first party titles are still missing and will not come any time soon. We are also missing Saturn and Dreamcast first party games but tbh most are hit or miss3. Notable omissions are Daytona, Sega Rally, older Virtua Fighter, Sonic Adventure, Phantasy Star 1, 8bit Sonic, OUTRUN 2006 !!! (come on remove the Ferrari licence and port it, I LOVE THIS GAME). If you are a SEGA fan the Xbox has way more games like Daytona, Crazy Taxi, Sonic Adventure.

Konami:
Castlevania? All games except the DS Ones!!! I love Castlevania as you can probably guess. I play the games in my PS4 regurarly. Contra is here, and soon we will also have ALL the TMNT games!!! Gradius and other
They are two glaring omissions that are PlayStation staples: Metal Gear (COME ON!) and Silent Hill (I really miss this series)... I know there are issues that make re-releasing them not easy but I think most people miss them. You need a PS3 for those unfortunately...

Final Fantasy:
WHERE ARE FF1 to FF6?? Where is the Lightning trilogy (I love the FF13 trilogy)? Why there are steam only? In any case all FF that are connected to Sony are here. I am sure that Square likes money and we will see the FF1-6 and the 13 trilogy some time. Crisis Core is coming soon though.

Other Square Enix games:
TBH I love Square. In the pace that SE keeps re-releasing old games we will have most of them sooner or later. For me I would love FF Legend trilogy and more Star Ocean but it is fine really.

Capcom:
Due to recent collections (even though they are overpriced) we have ... well everything!! Old arcade? All Street Fighter games? Mega Man? Updated Resident Evil games? Ace Attorney? EVERYTHING is here. From a more personal persective I would like the OG RE2,3 and Dino Crisis but it is OK.

Neo Geo:
I am not familiar with it like at all but most games seem available in overpriced standalone versions

Other Classic Series available:
All classic Disney games by Capcom and Virgin are here, we only miss the Sega created ones (illusion series etc.). Doom is here in all its g(l)ory. R-Type is also available as well as tons of classic arcade games.

Missing games:
For me I guess Ridge Racer, the OG Mortal Kombat games.

Sony itself:
TBH I do not have nostalgia for pre PS3 first party games and those have been ported. However due to the new plus I think we will see most of them sooner or later.

I know I missed a lot so fell free to add anything. For me I would love more Sega but this is up to them, not Sony. For series that Sony may have a say I guess the missing Final Fantasy and Metal Gear or Silent Hill are what I would like to see but fell free to add your own preferences.

Obviously, since PS5 is fully BC combatible all those games are preserved for a long time.

@belmont
I played these games on PS4 because I'm different.

@colonelkilgore speak for yourself.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

@Anti-Matter Genuinely interesting to see a bunch of DQ spinoffs, but XI S is nowhere to be found. Do you own it on Switch or something?

Currently Playing: Yakuza Kiwami 2 (SD)

@Anti-Matter Not that different. I also own physical copies of dragon quest builders 2 and ratchet and clank.

Honestly, i'm not a fan of Dragon Quest games and every games with Akira Toriyama art style (Dragon Ball, Tobal, Chrono Chross) but Dragon Quest Builders 1 & 2 are the only exceptional that I approved since they have Chibi design and I like Chibi looking characters. Also, it has similar gameplay as Portal Knights and Animal Crossing in term of house building.

DQB 1 was okay, not really fan of the default looking of main character.
DQB 2 was better since the boy character have like Saiyan hair style in Chibi form + the DLC have better wigs.

I don't play Dragon Quest XI since I don't have interest with mainline Dragon Quest games, only the spinoff (Dragon Quest Builders, Dragon Quest Heroes) I played.
But somehow.... I still curious with Dragon Quest X Offline since that version have cute Chibi looking.

Oh, I also have Dragon Quest Heroes 1 PS4 if you take a look closely on the right, near of Crayola Scoot. It was the only Dynasty Warrior style game with Dragon Quest characters I played since I have some interest with the male character design (looked similar as Matthew in Golden Sun Dark Dawn).
I have no interest with Dynasty Warrior main games actually but I only pick one game from Dragon Quest Heroes 1 just for curiosity and testing the water.

But, my majority games collection are completely different.
Who else want to play games like Youtubers Life 2, My Universe, Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles, Paw Patrol, Horse Club Adventures, Epic Chef, Dodgeball Academia, etc? 😛
Raise your hand if you have ever played those obscure games. 🖐

@belmont The most glaring omissions for me are Sony published games. Ps2's Champions of Norrath 1 and 2. Some of the most fun isometric games I ever played.
