Man, those are brilliant! The original boxart was already convincing enough for me to buy the physical copy of this game.

So No Mans Sky will be in yet another legal battle last time it was with Sky for the name. Next for the formula they have used for the game without it being licensed to them. Such an intergral part of the game and yet they did not respect the person that created it.

@dryrain: I've read the articles, I was surprised, as it was the same formula I have been working with a couple of years ago. It's a pretty big thing, because the formula is also applied in non-gaming fields, such as biology and physics. They're even working on specifically shaped antennas created by the formula to better tune in to specific signals; It's a pretty awesome invention, and no surprise it has been patented.

Anyway, it's sad to see that they didn't even bother asking Gielis. He even contacted Hello Games, but got no response. I think he's okay with it in the end, as I don't think he's after them for any money. He's a pretty chill guy from what I've heard. Crediting him is the least they should do.

@octane I admire anyone in that field of work I see a formula and most of them make no sense at all. Its quite amazing how a formula can impact on so many different aspects of science and technology. Yeah the guy does not want to block the game or anything like that but he definatly does deserve credit for his work and I am sure they will come to some agreement regarding the situation. Its just a massive oversight which in this day and age should not happen. Especially on such a high profile game.

If it get's delayed again because of this I will cancel my pre-order.

I'll probably get No Man's Sky, but not urgently. I'll have to see what the reviews turn out like, but I think it looks very promising. It might feel a little empty and the sound direction doesn't seem too special. It might be a bit boring at some points, but I don't know enough about it to make a proper prediction.

@Speedy67: I've heard there's a Kentucky Fried Duck shop somewhere in the universe of NMS....

@get2sammyb: What tweets, I don't use twitter so have no idea. Is it the dude who spent $1300 on a copy?

When this was first announced, I gave it a quick glance. At some point earlier this year, it was on my mind so i did some research on it. After that followed the usual Like on FB, the follow on Twitter etc etc..

Now these past few days i've been fighting with an inner monologue JD-style. Do i need to pre-order this game and will it be worth it..

I very rarely pay more than £40 for a game these days. Exceptions being the Joel Edition of TLOU and Uncharted 4 Special Edition. The thing that's playing on my mind and making me sit on the fence is whether or not it'll stay fresh for me for more than a week or a month. How many planets can i explore before i grow tired of it for example, is there enough tasks in the game to keep my mind wondering and excited.

Help me out guys (I've just joined today)

@daveofduncan: Welcome to the forums buddy

Of course, my advice has to be wait. You'll only need to wait half a day or so to see what general impressions are from everybody which should help your decision. Or just buy it, worst case scenario it sucks, you trade it in the next day and lose a tenner, no biggy

@kyleforrester87: Thanks dude! I take it they're generally quite active?

That's probably a good idea tbh. Part of me likes to be ahead of the game though too, especially when it comes to new releases as it happens though, i get paid tomorrow so i'll make a decision then. Cheapest i can find it at just now is £39.85.

@daveofduncan: I'm sure there will be enough feedback on here and other sites to help make a decision pretty quickly. I watched someone streaming for 30 minutes or so on Twitch yesterday. It looked pretty cool, nice music and some cool space flight but honestly all he was doing was gathering a ton of resources. I think I'll still wait for a few days after release, but I'll be getting it for sure!
