I want this game so bad but i worry about planet hopping. Will it be necessary or optional? Like fishing in Zelda. You can fish forever but its not needed in the game or like Black flag with your ship? You need to upgrade it to a certain extent but its not needed to complete the game. I guess i just want some incentive to go planet hopping because right now, just updating your finds doesnt sound appealing.
@cloudrunner64: if you want a good place for NMS info go here https://repo.nmsdb.info/
Unfortunately the website has problems on Microsoft edge and internet explorer
@cloudrunner64: I think one factor that will drive you forward is the sentinels who police the planets. If you mess with the ecology of a planet too much (killing wildlife, mining for resources etc) they will begin to come after you, and your wanted level increases. This discourages you from spending all of your time on any one planet which, you're quite right, you could just spend all your time on, otherwise.
Plus, I've heard Sean Murray say that only around 10% of planets will contain life, meaning a heck of a lot of barren planets. They're probably still rich with resources, but apparently the developer wants finding a life-supporting planet to feel special and rewarding, hence the decision to not have wildlife on every single one.
So basically, if you don't want to spend all of your time bumbling about on a single deserted planet and never see the varied alien life and locations, you'll want to explore as much as possible.
I am purchasing a Playstation 4 due to this game. Usually, I stick to Nintendo consoles, but this is awesome! Gonna get GTA V and Far Cry Primal to cover the wait as well. About the multiplayer, I'm not to worried about what it is, but will I see other players if I happen to be where they are? Cause I hope to run into someone atleast once. The center of the universe seems to be a good meeting place too.
Do you like videogames? If so, you must know
It's dangerous to go Alone.
@justlink: Heres a thing about multiplayer from this website "No Man's Sky is not an MMO
While it does feature multiplayer, it does not affect gameplay at all. The offline experience will be almost exactly the same as the online experience
Friends will show on the galactic map
You will be able to see other players
Only a few people can be seen at one time. If lots of people converge on an area, then you will only see a few of them
Friends do not take priority in regards to who can be seen
There will be PvP
It is unknown whether players will be able to trade between them"
Also guys If you want new news IGN is going to be getting new no mans sky info for the rest of the month only really time I'm going to sub to them then after that unsubing they started to day by releasing 21 minutes of new gameplay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D-uMFHoF8VA
@Splat: That's fair enough. You've probably got the right idea. The game is largely a mystery and that's a major part of its appeal
I can't help but watch any videos or read any info, though. No Man's Sky is fascinating and I feel like I'll still be surprised by it even if I do watch footage.
Sorry for double posting, but there's another video (not from IGN this time) looking at No Man's Sky's art direction. It's pretty interesting, and it's nice to see people other than Sean Murray (as nice as he is) talking about the game.
@Quintumply: Anyone but Sean Murray. He's an uncomfortable watch, like watching a porno with your parents.

@adf86: Yes! I'm so pleased for Hello Games, they've been through a lot to get to this point. They can all breathe a sigh of relief now development is done. I hope they take a break before they start work on future updates/patches!
Very much looking forward to 10th August!
Edit: Looks like they celebrated pretty hard last night!
