I think most people would agree that Uncharted 2 is one of the best games on the PS3 (or any console even). But my favourite game is Burnout Paradise, single player is a bit boring but online it's amazing.
I'd have to agree. I don't understand how anyone could dislike Uncharted 2. The only real argument I could see would be the excessive linearity, but given the stellar direction and storyline, I can't see that as anything but a bonus. Both Uncharted games are among my favorite examples of third-person shooters, period.
I gotta say, one of my most unexpected loves would have to be Infamous. I bought it completely on a whim--I downloaded the demo way back in the day and surprisingly enough really enjoyed the gameplay (TPS control, shooting lightning bolts, in an open-world? Yes please.) and insta-Amazon-ed it. Tons of content, a decent amount of mission variety, and a cast of characters I really enjoyed.
I personally also think everyone who owns a PS3 should play Heavy Rain (for the same reasons all Wii owners should play galaxy and all 360 owners should.....hell I dunno buy a Wii or a PS3 I guess ) because it's an experience no console has attempted to provide before. It's just a genuinely captivating story, and so far the 3 people I've lent it to (who had all, respectively, just gotten PS3s) have been blown away and heartily thanked me for the opportunity to play it.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.
Off the top of my head, my standout PS3 titles are God of War III, Killzone 2,Red Dead Redemption and Batman: Arkham Asylum. Only two of those are first party, PS3 exclusives, though.
I think that it is also worth mentioning the first Uncharted and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Both of these games have received sequels, so could be overlooked, but both are brilliant examples of earlier PS3 releases and can be picked up nice and cheap!
I am passionate about retro gaming, from antiquated consoles to the continuation of classics. Obviously I love PSone, and PS2 retro games. I blast my ears to breakneck melodic punk, gruff vocals and nimble alternative guitar hooks.
The best game I've played on PS3 so far is *Valkyria Chronicles*, an absolutely fantastic tactical RPG from the masters, SEGA. It's got characters from Skies of Arcadia in it, winning it triple mega points, but it's a fantastically well-designed piece of gaming that's full of charm and subtlety and tanks.
@Wolf... thanks for finally dropping in Demon Souls, way too long this thread has went without its mention lol.
@Swerd... actually, there have been others very much like Heavy Rain. In the PS2/XBOX era you had Indigo Prophecy and Dreamfall, both of wich are Fantastic games. Heavy Rain borrows from Indigo Prophecy Heavily.
SoldnerX 1 and 2 Joe Danger
are a few of my favorites that havent been mentioned yet
