Topic: Does anyone know how to fix my PS2?

I found my old ps2 but not the power cable so I had to buy a new one. As far as I could tell it was an official Sony product. I plugged it in but the ps2 would only turn on if I pushed down on the power cable. I saw online that this likely meant it had to be resoldered, but I haven't got any solder at the minute so held the power cable in a position that worked with tape as a temporary solution. It worked fine for about 40 minutes until it just shut off, about 2 seconds after there was a 'pop' noise, but I couldn't tell if it was from the power brick or the PlayStation. I felt the ps2 and the power brick and they were both warm. I had assumed that maybe the tape was covering the fan and that caused it to overheat but it wouldn't turn back on after it cooled, not even the red light will come on, and there were no running issues with the console before it shut down. I tried a different fuse in the plug head and that's not the issue. I have also noticed that now the power brick rattles when I move it so I think that it's something to do with it that's the problem. Could the power brick have overheated and broke itself? Or, even worse, could it have overheated and bricked my console?

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, but if it isn't could someone tell me where to go for help? Thanks
