Topic: Batman Arkham Origins on PS Now corrupted

Hey guys! I was just curious if anyone is having the same problem that I am having with Batman Arkham Origins on PS Now? For the last couple of months I've been trying to figure it out, but I cannot find ANYTHING online that can explain it, and Playstation themselves couldn't tell me anything. Everytime I try to play Arkham Origins on PS Now, I keep getting a message every 5 to 10 minutes, and it is EXTREMELY annoying!!! The message simply states:

"The data is corrupted. (80029206)"

But I can not figure out why!!! Besides this screen that comes up every 5 to 10 minutes, nothing else is effected?! It let's me back out of the screen and continue playing, it does not effect saves or anything else that I can find! It's just EXTREMELY annoying!!! I've done everything that PS help has told me to do, all the way to wiping out EVERYTHING from my PS4, like the day I first brought it home!!! The screen STILL does it every couple of minutes!!

It's bad enough I've already lost so much, now I just want to know how to KILL whatever issue is causing this!! Is anyone else having this problem?? For me, it's just Batman Arkham Origins on PS Now!! And does ANYONE know how to make it stop??!! I really appreciate anyone's help... especially since Playstation themselves weren't any!

@Proud2serv It's a shame to say that Arkham Origins is a notoriously buggy game on PlayStation, so this might just be an unfortunate result of Sony streaming poorly-optimised code. I'm sorry to hear it's hampering your enjoyment of the game, but I can't see anything via Google to suggest a solution.

This might be an insulting suggestion, so I apologise in advance, but it's probably better to buy a cheap original copy for PS3 or a gaming PC, if you have that capability.

@RogerRoger No, not at all! Thank you for taking the time to reply!

I've played, and finished, the game in the past on PS Now. It's actually one of the reasons I got PS Now in the first place. I simply wanted to play it again out of boredom after my shoulder surgeries. Sadly, because it is a PS3 game, there really isn't a way for me to buy a physical copy of the game, unless I buy another PS3(or a computer good enough to play a PC version, if there is one).

I mean, it is what it is. If ultimately there isn't a fix, it sucks, but there is nothing I can do about it. At this point I'm more curious if it is like this for everyone, or if it is just my system. Because, so far anyway, Origins is the only game on PS Now that I am having this problem with. So at this point, I think it's more pride than anything else, because I'm a problem solver, and it's driving me crazy because I can't solve this one!! Haha. But I've looked everywhere I can i think of, and everytime I find someone with this same problem, on a different game, I click the link to see how they fixed it, but literally NONE of the links work! Every single example of this happening to someone else has been wiped off the internet for some reason! If I was a conspiracy theorist, I would think something was fishy!!

@Proud2serv From what I gather, there is a PC version and it works a little better than the console versions (particularly nowadays, with incremental hardware improvements). I've recently gotten a new PC and have been looking back at those last-gen games which arrived on PS3 with... let's say "complications" and Arkham Origins is most definitely on my wishlist. That's why I haven't bothered with PS Now.

I'm sorry this specific issue has become such a mystery for you, and that similar experiences are leading you down dead-ends. That is strange! When I did a quick Google the other day, it was all surface-level glancing, but even I was surprised to find nothing about similar issues. I get that the current pandemic has been causing problems for some online streaming services but, from what I hear, Sony have kept PSN and PS Now running comparatively well, so it can't really be a result of that.

At least you've been able to enjoy the game before. It's my favourite Arkham game, and I'm really hoping that the forthcoming announcement concerning a new WB Montreal bat-game sparks some motivation for a proper remaster, one that fixes all the bugs and framerate issues.

Hope your shoulder recovers from its surgery soon!

@RogerRoger Thank you for the kind words about my shoulder, it is greatly appreciated!

And I agree with you, Origins was my favorite Arkham game as well! I also agree that I do not believe it has anything to do with the pandemic. And, as much as I would really love the idea of playing it again, especially now, considering the mystery behind it. I suppose it is what it is.

That doesn't mean my curiosity has completely escaped me though! So I'll keep trying from time to time, and I might do a very low key investigation here and there, for nothing more than the hope that someone will be able to answer this better than I have. If that should happen, I will definitely let you know, in the slim chance that someone else might run into the same issue and hopefully find the answer on here.

@Proud2serv - Have you tried playing it on a different account? It sounds like the save data tied to your account is the problem. Seeing as Now works across all accounts on the PS4 it's worth a try.

Do you mean on someone else's account altogether? If that is what you mean, no I have not been able to because personally I don't know anyone that has PS Now, besides myself. That is the primary reason that I tried posting the issue on here, in hopes that's someone has either had the same problem, or even if they do not. At this point, even if it does work on someone else's account, it is at least a small hint of what the problem could be.

I have tried everything else I could think of. Even canceling PS Now all together, taking it off my Playstation altogether, and then getting it again. Actually, I even got a new internet service, and different equipment.(but just by coincidence, not because of this issue, I had other problems with the internet provider I was using. I had hoped that since I was changing providers anyway, that it might have resolved the issue with luck. Haha, but this was not the case)

@Proud2serv - I just mean create a second account on your PS4 and try it on that. I have Now and use a second account to try out games I'm unsure about before I play them on my main one.
