RoboCop: Rogue City (PS5)

With its scrappy first-person shooter Terminator: Resistance, developer Teyon attracted quite the cult following. It’ll be looking to build on that with RoboCop: Rogue City, a game that’s gunning for a similar audience, and has original actor Peter Weller on board.

Scars Above (PS5)

New intellectual property is always exciting, and Scars Above is hoping to establish a name for itself in the third-person shooter space. Promising tense, challenging combat encounters and an engaging alien-themed storyline, this could be one of 2023’s surprise hits.

Sea of Stars (PS5)

Developed by Sabotage Studio, this is actually a prequel to The Messenger. Sea of Stars swaps the ninja platforming action for turn-based RPG adventuring, and it looks wonderful. The visuals are great, and we know the team can pack its writing with personality, so this has a lot of promise.

Season (PS5)

Announced years ago, this indie adventure game looks like a peaceful, meditative experience. With the world on the brink of some cataclysmic event, you'll explore a picturesque environment and talk to its inhabitants, all with the aim of preserving what's left. On foot or by bike, you'll record sounds and conversations, take pictures, and take down notes on your surroundings as you learn about a world that's on its way out.

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened (PS5)

Ukrainian developer Frogwares revisits one of its earlier Sherlock Holmes titles in this top-to-bottom remake of the Cthulhu tinged Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened. Taking Arthur Conan Doyle’s detective to New Orleans, the release will expand upon the open-ended gameplay first introduced in Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One.

Silent Hill 2 (PS5)

Bloober Team gets its biggest gig yet with this full remake of legendary PS2 release Silent Hill 2. Upgraded gameplay means it’ll adopt a third-person, “over-the-shoulder” camera perspective, with a massively revamped combat system. The same eerie atmosphere will remain, however.

Skull and Bones (PS5)

Delayed, then delayed again, and then delayed once more, Skull and Bones should release in 2023. We should be safe saying that, right? Upon every showing, the ocean explorer hasn't looked particularly impressive, with poor menus, drab combat, and soulless environments. To be honest, this is one of the few games we've included to make the article a nice round 60.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (PS5)

Building on the fantastic 2019 Game of the Year contender Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Cal Kestis returns in a sequel that promises to be bigger and even better. New features and mechanics have been promised, along with a continuation of the story. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be one to look out for in March.

Street Fighter 6 (PS5)

Capcom learned a lesson or three from the subdued launch of Street Fighter V, and it’s not going to make the same mistake twice. Street Fighter 6 is not only shaping up to be one of the strongest one-on-one fighters in some time, but it’s also looking like a knock-out package, with a sprawling World Tour single player campaign that will take you right across the globe, from Metro City to Paris.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (PS5)

Rocksteady returns at long last in this upside-down take on the DC Universe. With the Justice League brainwashed by Brainiac, it’s down to the eponymous Suicide Squad to save the day in this open world action adventure featuring four-player co-op.

Tales of Symphonia Remastered (PS4)

Still running at just 30 frames-per-second, this will hardly be a remaster for the ages, but the classic Tales of Symphonia is coming back for fans and newcomers. Still considered one of the best entries in the JRPG series, this will be a welcome trip down memory lane for many.

Tchia (PS5)

Tchia has looked delightfully enchanting since its announcement. Set in New Caledonia, you play as a child exploring the archipelago, but you also happen to have some special abilities. You can possess animals around the islands, allowing you to swim through the water as a fish or fly through the clouds as a bird. This open world platformer is brimming with personality, and we can't wait to play it.

The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners - Chapter 2: Retribution (PS5)

As irritating as its title may be, The Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners – Chapter 2: Retribution is practically guaranteed to be one of the PSVR2’s early highlights. A massively expanded sequel to Skydance Interactive’s open-ended survival game, this virtual reality release will challenge you to think on your feet, as you make use of your scant resources to survive a zombie apocalypse.

The Wolf Among Us 2 (PS5)

One of Telltale Games' best-loved titles was The Wolf Among Us, and the patience of its fans will finally be rewarded in 2023. A sequel to the adventure game picks up six months afterwards, with a new case brewing in Fabletown. Expect the same noir-tinged fantasy and an engaging mystery in this narrative adventure.

Trails into Reverie (PS5)

The Trails train stops for no one, having been running since as far back as 2004. Trails into Reverie is the latest to make its out of Japan and onto Western consoles, having first launched in the East back in 2020. It marks the end of the Crossbell and Erebonia storylines, and sets up the events of the latest instalment Kuro no Kiseki, which launched late last year in the Land of the Rising Sun.

Trails to Azure (PS4)

PSP ports have been popular of late, haven’t they? The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure marks another conversion from Sony’s first handheld format. This, the sequel to Trails from Zero, never made it out of Japan a decade ago – but is finally being localised for PS4, over ten years after it first debuted.

Wanted: Dead (PS5)

Scrappy b-tier combat stars in this off-the-wall blend of third-person shooting and melee-based character action. Metal Gear Solid 5 actress Stephanie Joosten cameos in an in-universe cooking show, in this love letter to the PS2 era from veteran Ninja Gaiden developers.

Wild Hearts (PS5)

Veteran developer Omega Force has teamed up with juggernaut publisher EA to bring this spiritual successor to the Toukiden franchise to a more mainstream audience. Wild Hearts is a Monster Hunter-style action game, where technology gives you the upper-hand against otherwise unthinkable odds.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty (PS5)

Essentially Nioh in all but name, Team Ninja is back with another take on the Dark Souls formula. This time around, you'll be working your way through the era of the Three Kingdoms, with a fully customisable character being your eyes into the world. Expect an absurd amount of depth in terms of builds, combat encounters, and weapon variety. It's the Team Ninja way.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox (PS5)

If you want to talk about long-running franchises, let’s talk about Ys. The first entry in this JRPG series dates as far back as 1987, and it got its start in the West on the Master System a couple of years later. Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is already available on the PS4, but this upgraded PS5 re-release will include all previously released DLC at launch.
