Time Flies PS5

Time Flies is a curious little game in which you experience the fleeting existence of a common house fly. It's a meditation on life and death, but it's a subject treated with a humour and lightness that makes this short adventure a joy to play through. You're given a bucket list on each stage, and the challenge is to accomplish everything within an extremely small lifespan. Funny, silly, and quite unique.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 PS5

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 is another fantastic skateboarding title that revives some all-time classics, albeit with some caveats. It's a shame that 4 couldn't be more faithfully restored, but what is included still makes for a fun arcade skating experience that fans of the series shouldn't skip — especially considering the brand new levels and other neat secrets. It may not be the greatest remake, but it's further proof that there's life yet in this timeless series.

Unicorn Overlord PS5

"Vanillaware doesn't miss" — a statement that grows more and more meaningful with every game that the talented Japanese studio releases. Unicorn Overlord takes the developer in yet another new direction, channelling the spirit of strategy RPGs like Fire Emblem to create one of the finest examples of the genre that you'll find in modern gaming. Growing a huge army of characters and finding unique ways to squad them up is the crux of the experience, and it only gets increasingly addictive as the adventure continues. Couple that with Vanillaware's amazing, trademark art direction, and you've got a surefire recipe for role-playing success.

Unpacking PS5

Unpacking proves that even the simplest of concepts can have impact. The act of moving a young woman into her various living spaces by unboxing all her possessions is a surprisingly effective storytelling device, and what's more, it's incredibly relaxing to do. Gorgeous pixel art and chill music enhance the vibe as you follow the main character through her life. While it doesn't last very long, it's a memorable game that does a lot with a little.

Untitled Goose Game PS4

This game hardly needs an introduction; it spread like wildfire online, and remains a beloved little experience. Untitled Goose Game is about embodying the chaotic life of an antagonistic goose, living near a quaint English village. Each location has a selection of objectives to meet, and working those all out using a wide range of interactive objects is a constant delight. It may only be a few hours long, but few games are able to keep you grinning constantly from start to finish, and this is one of them.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 PS4

When it comes to gameplay, Valkyria Chronicles 4 is the most fleshed-out title in SEGA's strategy series. It builds on the property's trademark mix of real-time movement and command-based action really well, adding new unit types, character integrations, and battlefield hazards. The story's still pretty good, too, following yet another ragtag band of soldiers as they fight for their homeland. A little slow to get properly started, perhaps, but a tactical treat once you're in the trenches.

What Remains of Edith Finch PS5

What Remains of Edith Finch is a difficult game to talk about without spoiling what makes it special. It's a narrative-driven experience that only lasts a few hours, but it packs in so much inventive design and imaginative sequences that it will stick with you for longer than anything else. Playing as the titular Edith Finch, you return to her rickety, unusual family house and unearth what happened to everyone. It's emotional, surprising, characterful, and unique. Now also on PS5, there's no excuse to skip this excellent adventure.
