Batman Arkham Asylum Has Toppled Wii Sports Resort On The British Sales Charts.

Rocksteady’s masterpiece Batman Arkham Asylum may go on to be many people’s game of the year, but it all counts for nothing if it doesn’t sell. Thankfully the title has topped the UK charts, offsetting Nintendo’s Wii Sports Resort and resting a comfortable victor. The XBOX 360 version narrowly outsold the PS3 (with a 55% share) — we assume the exclusive Joker content on the PS3 version of the game ate somewhat into the 360’s share. Sony will be reassured to see games on their platform selling relatively similarly to the oft-lofted “greater” multiplatform system.

Wolfenstein came in at four, which is a decent first week outing for the shooter. There was no sign of Soul Calibur Broken Destiny on the list, which launched this Friday.

Wolfenstein is an entirely competent yet woefully uninspired first person shooter. It’s perfectly playable, but the Playstation 3 has much better to offer.

So the Nazis have unlocked some kind of time warp into another world allowing them to become super-charged super warriors. Thankfully one American dude can save the day with a bunch of one-liners and presumably an arsenal of weapons.

If it wasn’t so utterly predictable and devoid of anything, we’d probably say this is an alright concept for a game. We’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. Maybe.

… If their game sells more than Madden 10 based on the NPDs. Knowing there is little to no chance in hell of such a thing ever occuring in this world, we think Manveer Heir’s cash is safe.

The software designer Tweeted the contest stating the stipulations that the offer only applies to sales in August and that you’re limited to one copy per person. Haha. Of course, the chances of Wolfenstein outselling Madden 10 are slim to none. Still it could happen. And you could end up with a free game. Right?
