Oh PCB Productions. How you have broken our hearts. After listing Syphon Filter 5 and more recently SOCOM 4 in the credits section of their website many believed the reality of new games in the popular franchises being under development. Alas, they are not.

“I apologize for the confusion. There appears to be some errors on our credits,” said a PCB rep.

“Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror was recorded a few years back with Image Metrics,” they said, adding: “We recently worked on Socom FTB 3 for the PSP.”

So no SOCOM 4 nor Syphon Filter 5 then? Well, not yet anyway!

Syphon Filter 5 In The Works For PS3? Probably.

Sony Bend, the team currently putting the finishing touches to Resistance Retribution, may well be working on a next-generation version of Syphon Filter. According to multiple sources, the team responsible for every Syphon Filter to date have been looking for a full-time programmer who has PS3 experience.

“Means nothing,” you may scoff. And we agreed until we also found out about a “Credits” page on digital content company PCB Production’s website. Scroll down a little bit and you’ll see they list their “Facial Mo-Cap” work for… Sony Bend’s Syphon Filter 5.

Colour this rumour for now but expect an announcement at E3.
