SCEE Put The Brakes On Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City

Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes From Liberty City Is Coming... Just Later Than Planned.

Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes From Liberty City Is Coming... Just Later Than Planned.

Well, we’ve waited months and months for Grand Theft Auto IV’s XBOX 360 “exclusive” content Episodes From Liberty City, right? What harm’s a couple more weeks going to cause, right?

Rockstar’s announced this morning that they’ve delayed the PS3 version of GTAIV: Episodes From Liberty City by two weeks due to some minor changes demanded by SCEE. The game was originally scheduled to release on March 30th but will now hit on April 16th here in Europe (April 13th in the US).

“Due to a last minute game submission request from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe to edit some of the in-game Liberty City radio station, television, and internet content – we are forced to delay the worldwide release of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City for both PlayStation 3 and PC for an extra two weeks,” Rockstar posted on their blog.

“The new release date for Episodes from Liberty City – and the two downloadable episodes The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony – on those platforms is now April 13th in North America and April 16th in Europe.

“This new date will enable us to rectify these changes for Sony Europe, and still allow for a level playing field for all of the Grand Theft Auto fans that have been waiting patiently for this release. In the meantime, we’re moving full speed ahead towards the new game release date. On that note – please be aware that the Grand Theft Auto IV PlayStation 3 leaderboards at Rockstar Games Social Club will be down for maintenance for one week starting March 22nd as we work on their re-launch in support of Episodes from Liberty City.

“Unfortunately, with each round of changes comes fully re-testing the game and a full re-submission to PlayStation. This is the nature of the game submission process. Believe us, if we could expedite the turnaround any sooner – we would. We are dying to get this game in the hands of fans who’ve waited for it for so long in the first place.

“This was a tough decision but with a simultaneous release, everyone can experience multiplayer simultaneously, take part in online events together, be on level ground on leaderboards, etc.”

It’s pretty bumming news to be honest, that must frustrate the publisher no end. But these things happen and the delay is not particularly huge. Two extra weeks is all guys. Hold out.

Stop What You’re Doing: New Red Dead Redemption Video Is Balls To The Wall Amazing

Y’know, with each video that comes and goes for Red Dead Redemption we’re getting closer and closer to the words “game of the year potential”. There’s been about 8,753 trailers for Red Dead Redemption (trust us, our inbox can vouch) but every trailer has something different in it.

Tell us this: which other game can have a truck-load of trailers, with each one still providing new information? The answer is: not many. It honestly seems like Red Dead Redemption is literally chock to the brim full of content.

And that’s why it’s going to be amazing when it launches in May.

Watch, drool, preorder.

Gaming might be all about youngsters, but the Wild West – that was for the experienced gun-slinger. Men who look wizened, old and, frankly, fucking hard.

Kotaku’s got some shots of the older generation of Red Dead Redemption. The game continues to look bloody awesome.

Red Dead Redemption Delayed For An Extra Layer Of Polish

You'll Have To Wait An Extra Month To Play This. It'll Probably Be Worth It.

You'll Have To Wait An Extra Month To Play This. It'll Probably Be Worth It.

Red Dead Redemption has been pushed back until May 18th (21st in the UK). Boo! It was originally due in April, but Rockstar have told Kotaku it’s been delayed for an extra layer of polish.

“We at Rockstar have always prided ourselves on the uncompromising quality of our games – and will always opt to take a bit longer to polish and fine-tune a game to be as perfect as possible when we think it necessary,” Rockstar told Kotaku.

“With Red Dead Redemption, we felt that these extra few weeks will make a big difference in helping us deliver you an experience beyond your expectations.”

Interestingly, Take Two’s CEO Ben Feder claimed the delay was due to “optimal release timing”. Whatever the reason, the delay means an extra months wait for what is being heralded as the “next generation of sandbox games”. Bummer.

L.A. Noire Goes Beyond Motion Capture, Claims To Set New Bar For 3D Performances

Apparently This Dude's Gonna Have Amazing Mo-Cap.

Apparently This Dude's Gonna Have Amazing Mo-Cap.

Team Bondi’s claimed that L.A. Noire’s motion capture goes above and beyond traditional methods. “MotionScan” is said to bring “to life the subtle nuances of the chaotic underworld”, which would be impossible with “tradional motion capture”. Apparently.

The tech uses “32 high-definition cameras to capture true-to-life three-dimensional performances at up to 30 frames per second,” providing super “emotional performances”. Of course — if the actors are tosh…

The game’s due in September.

I Love Games Set In The Wild-West – “Twiggy” The PushSquare Opinionator

Something About Games Set In The Wild-West Has Me Excited Like Nothing Else.

Something About Games Set In The Wild-West Has Me Excited Like Nothing Else.

Growing up, I’ve never had any interest in movies set in the wild-west. Sure, I can remember cold winter afternoons, sitting next to the fire with my Grandmother, watching some tired old tosh set about Pawnee Bill; but I’ve never once considered the genre a favourite. Which is strange, because anytime I think of wild-west games, I think of them with great fondness.

Soak it in folks. This is the first ever screenshot (ever) of Team Bondi’s L.A. Noire — the thriller that’s been in development for almost forever.

There are more shots over at GameInformer. If you have even a passing interest in the title, then you’re probably no longer reading this.
