#26: Beaterator on Playstation Portable.

We said: “Beaterator is not a game, but a portable music studio inside your Playstation Portable. While being a particularly powerful tool, Beaterator succeeds mainly because it’s aware of its strengths. If you’re a beginner with an interest in music production or an experienced musician looking to compose on the go — you’ll be hard pushed to find a more complete package than Beaterator.”

#27: Noby Noby Boy on Playstation 3.

We said: “Noby Noby Boy is a baffling concept with ideals of teamwork and childhood strung together into a neat package. Few will scratch the surface, which considering the microscopic price tag, will suffice. For everyone else, there are hours of playtime to be had.”

#28: Gunstar Heroes on Playstation 3.

We said: “Gunstar Heroes was bizarrely excluded from SEGA’s Ultimate Mega Drive Collection, and while it’s irritating to not have an entire collection of Mega Drive titles collectively under one roof – it does make the PSN version of Gunstar Heroes worth so much more than it might have been.”

#29: FIFA 10 on Playstation 3.

We said: “Fifa 10 doesn’t seem all that different from Fifa 09 on the surface. In fact, you could spend hours with the game and not be able to pin-point any precise things that are better in Fifa 10. But, let this be known, subconsciously you’ll be enjoying it more. And that’s because despite familiarity, this is Fifa 09 polished to infinity.”

#30: PixelJunk Shooter on Playstation 3.

We said: “Despite an agonisingly premature campaign finale, PixelJunk Shooter maintains the simplicity and raw invitation that has made Q-Games’ pseudo-retro-genre-hopping franchise a clear winner.”

Noby Noby Boy: Still Amazing.

Remember the over-arching co-operative nature of Namco Bandai’s Noby Noby Boy. That’s right, we’re all increasing GIRL’s length in hope of reaching new planets and subsequently unlocking new levels. Know then that GIRL has finally reached Jupiter after stretching to a length of 576,682,810 miles.

Hurrah! Well done folks.

Noby Noby Boy Is Pretty Damn Mindblowing In Many Ways.

We kinda thought Noby Noby Boy was awesome. However, we can understand why people would pick it up and curse its very existence. It’s bonkers and proud to be so. Still, creator Keita Takahashi remains unsatisfied with the product.

“Ultimately, with Noby Noby Boy, I wanted to break the barriers between toy and game,” Takahashi told Develop. “But for me personally, a bit more could have been done to the game. I’m not completely satisfied with the game, in terms of quality, due to the restrictions on budgets.”

Given a bigger budget, Takahashi believes his game could have appealed to more people.

“I won’t go in to what I wanted to add to the game, because that’s a really long list of things, but as an overall assessment, I think the game could have been much more detailed and easier for everyone to understand.”

Still, none of this is putting Takahashi off. Already he is working on ideas and concepts for a game that is “even harder to explain than Noby Noby Boy”. And personally, we can’t wait to see it.

Not The Biggest Hit Ever, But Still One Of Our Favourites.

Ahh Noby Noby Boy, the game that we just assumed everyone had downloaded to their PS3 because of the decent reviews and amount of coverage it gets. Sadly, seems like not everyone has been giving it to GIRL. Despite a potential 24 Million install base, Noby Noby Boy has gone on to sell just 100,000 copies.

Perhaps that’s a lot for a game that’s about a worm eating people to add length to GIRL but, we think it’s a little disappointing to be honest.

This Is What It Looks Like On Mars.

We knew our calculations weren’t wrong. When we said it would take 5 years for Noby Noby Boy’s GIRL to reach Mars, we did not “fail” (like one certain N4G poster claimed); Namco cheated.

Apparently, Namco multiplied player’s submitted lengths by 765, speeding up the process. Essentially, it cheated, though undeniably in a good way. Which seems like it was actually quite a good idea. It’ll be interesting to see if they maintain a similar philosophy for the next planets in the universe.

If there’s an octopus on Mars, who knows what’s on Saturn.

Well, somewhere along the way our calculations messed up. We claimed it would be 5 years until GIRL from Noby Noby Boy reached Mars. We were wrong. She’s there now. That’s right – new Noby Noby Boy level for everyone; MARS!

We had a tinker about and you’ll never guess what’s on Mars – an octopus.
