Ever Wondered What The Biggest Online Game On The Playstation 3 Is…?

The Biggest Playstation Network Game Apparently.

The PS3's Biggest Online Game Apparently.

Killzone 2? Motorstorm: Pacific Rift? Resistance 2? Nope… SOCOM: Confrontation. SCEA’s Mark Rogers is basing this statistic by counting the number of simultaneous Playstation Network connections. He bases the game’s success off the community’s commitment to the franchise.

Rogers concluded that dedicated fans will be rewarded by an upcoming patch that will change the scale and scope of the game.

We wonder what MAG will have to say about all this?

Guerrilla Will Take A “Step Back” From Killzone 2, Taking Time To “Reflect”

You Probably Won't Be Seeing New Stuff Involving These Guys For A Little While.

You Probably Won't Be Seeing New Stuff Involving These Guys For A Little While.

Speaking on the European Playstation blog, Guerrilla Games producer Seb Downie has commented on the companies current status with Killzone 2, and that they’re looking to take a break from the game for a short period.

“Right now we’re going to take a step back from Killzone 2,” said Downie. “We’ve been working non-stop since the disc version was released on patches, DLC and http://www.killzone.com updates, so need some time to reflect on what is actually out there.”

We doubt this means the end of new Killzone 2 content for a while, there’ll surely be something to reward fans of the game later in the year. But it sounds like today’s Napalm & Cordite pack might be your lot for a while.

New Killzone 2 Expansion Available This July 23rd

This Thursday is shaping up to be a crazy day on the PSN. We already know Shatter and Wipeout HD’s Fury expansion are on the way — but how about some more Killzone 2 aswell?

Given the barren spell we’re enduring with retail releases just now, we’ll take everything we can get! New Killzone 2 maps “Suljeva Cliffside” and “Arctower Landing” should do very nicely. Both are set in locations taken from the single-player; Suljeva taking place near the mining village and Arctower in the urban hotzone of Blood Meridian.

Guerrilla will also allow players to use the flamethrower and bolt gun respectively on the new maps. They won’t be available on any of the older maps.

Killzone 2 V1.27 Is Available Now.

Guerilla Games have announced that patch 1.27 for Killzone 2 is available for download now. The patch includes the “high precision” control mode we posted about earlier in the week. We’ll be on hand to give some impressions on the new controls, and whether they lose any of Killzone 2’s personality in the wake of making the game a CoD clone to appease “fans”.

The full list of updates are after the jump.

Killzone 2 Getting A “Control” Patch

Killzone 2 To Receive New "High Precision" Controls.

Killzone 2 To Receive New "High Precision" Controls.

Some people really hated the “heavy” controls of Killzone 2. We loved them, it gave the game some personality. But, y’know, they weren’t for everyone unfortunately. Hence why a new patch for the game will namby-pamby those who just can’t adjust.

When this option is switched on, it makes the analog sticks more responsive to small movements. Turned off, the controls behave exactly as they did before the patch. It’s not a radical overhaul of the control system, so the layout and the ‘weight’ of the controls remain the same.

Still, a lot of us here at Guerrilla really enjoy the new High Precision option, so we’ve decided to switch it on by default for new players. Existing Killzone 2 players will have the option turned off by default after patching – we wouldn’t want to force a sudden change to the controls on you!

We’re glad they’ve kept the original controls in there. Hopefully this makes everyone happy.
